Ice Speedway Fixtures 2015 - 2016
iris123 replied to Hawk127's topic in International World of Speedway
It was an official FIM release that was on FB and then the link to speedweek gave the reserves And now I see Krasnikov has the first wild card in Krasnogorsk -
Don't have time to give that much of a summary today, but the basics are talking about the rivalry between her and her brother and how he always wins, but she is getting closer and closer. Her mum thinks it is dangerous, but still comes to support them. She has a trainer,Rene Woytazcek who is an ex East German rider who I think still turns out in one or two oldie meetings, but often her dad stands in and trains them. From memeory Rene took them round the track at teterow before the meeting giving them tips, such as part of the track was in the shade and wouldn't dry out so be careful of different conditions and to keep the helmet right down as coming out of one bend they will be riding into the sun and could be riding blind for a second or two.And she enjoys cleaning up her equipment !!!! All come over really well and a good advert for the sport I think

Seen a bit of video from Strömsund and after all the fuss about an ice wall and lack of straw bales in Ylitornio, what do they have at Strömsund? An ice wall and no straw bales!!!! -

What does Seppänen say about this 'rule' or accepted practice? He really seems to have jumped into the frying pan so far this season -

Ok,didn't know about that rule.Could at least have used the rule to give a new young Finn a chance. As much as I like Antti,if he isn't fit then why not give someone else an opportunity?Pity there are no Poles or Dutch guys or even a Brit who could have made that 6th nation spot -

Few strange decision there though.Aakko right out of the blue really after his poor performance in Ylitornio,Jan Klabo finished 2pts behind his brother.Maybe Tony declined? And of course Bauer pulls out of the Challenge and still gets nominated.....Basically they have the guys they want in mind and they will be in regardless of how they perform or don't.Guess Simon is just not going to make it or he would have been in as well..... http://www.speedweek.com/eisspeedwaywm/news/86673/Bauer-und-Pletschacher-permanente-WM-Fahrer-2016.html -
I did see Keynan Rew this year in Denmark.Looked pretty good to finish behind some top Danes.Just 1 point behind ex 80cc world champ Mads Hansen. The same rider who won one of the 250cc world titles and just lost out to Gilmore in the other.Unfortunately I didn't stay for the second meeting in Skaerbaek to see Gilmore

Wild cards have been handed out to Niklas Svensson (Sw) Daniel Henderson )Sw) Jan Klatovsky (Cz) Stefan Pletschacher (Ger) Günther Bauer (Ger) Antti Aakko (Fin) to join D.Koltakov (Rus) D.Khomitsevitsch (Rus) D.Ivanov (Rus) I.Kononov (Rus) E.Myshkovets (Rus) M.Seifter (Au) F.Zorn (Au) O.Ledström (Sw) S.Svensson (Sw) plus one wild card for each GP weekend -
Think you are right. It is counter-productive and easily spotted and that is why I guess the Beeb nominate the candidates and probably fix the thing themselves now

I gave up long ago the hope of a folder. It was that quote and the folder never expanded,so I put it in the 'one quote wonders' folder instead

The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup
iris123 replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
There is nothing stopping someone from Germany sponsoring three german riders and getting their company out on tv.Emil was on his way to his german sponsor yesterday.so it might be that a german company is sponsoring a made up team. The same goes for any country/firm.Any company that wants to get their name out there can do that by sponsoring a team.Personally I don't think they get much interest in their products anyway,it is more a self satisfying decision.I imagine they will get enough sponsors, though they won't be BP or Shell or Gazprom or Microsoft. As for who wants to watch it,that is the same with any speedway. It is down to the line-up.As long as they have good riders then I will watch it on tv.Just like the Champions league,of course it isn't an important meeting or title, but can still have some great racing and that as fans is what we want -

Ok thanks.I thought Roger Newton had retired,so that boosts the squad a little Yes and looking at the Russian Championships,it is obvious the numbers even there have fallen quite dramatically, unless a lot f riders didn't bother to enter. What happened to the Blago riders like Tschajka and Baraboshkin etc...... -

The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup

Riding as a pair, to be in second and third place you have won ,as one rider from the other pair has finished last... -
I don't think Mud ever played at Plough Lane.Neither did Alvin Stardust nor thank heavens Sam Fox,though they all made celebrity appearances at the track. At least one of the guys from Mud lived round the corner from me.Me and one of my mates knocked on their door on our way to school to get an autograph, but was told by the lady of the house he wasn't at home Think I am right in saying Marc Bolan lived in the shadow of the stadium.Don't know if he ever went to the speedway though, but he might have bought a record or two from Briggo's old shop....

Agree it looks a nice track and set up,but there are about 50 people there and I guess most are friends and family.Just like a Danish 1st division meeting, only the standard of racing is much poorer. It is hard to charge people for that level. In Denmark those meetings are free I don't disagree with the idea. The problem with running outside of the BSPA/ACU is where are the riders coming from? They would be amateurs I guess.OK like scb said the locals wouldn't know the difference at first. But after a meeting or two you can at that level have a big difference and see that some guys or girls can hardly get round the bends and it doesn't really have much of a future....Maybe looking at the big picture of this whole venture they could afford to run meetings at a loss though, and they can attract a few youngsters who would progress to league speedway......

I thought it might. It is a 'pairs' meeting and the idea is the best 'pair' win -

What happened to Järf? Not interested in international meetings?Could be a world championship without any Finns.Would be nice to see Weber get through and one of the young Swedes.Have one or two new faces and not the same old same old...... -
I do agree with scb that the new track should stick to the idea he put forward and training schools. The worry is though and I have said it a few times before is that the BSPA don't imo want a track to do their own thing.Everyone has to play the same game and join the league.I hope not,as it could be the future and the saving of one or two tracks that can't afford regular speedway nights. Is it a worry that if one track makes a small success of open meetings that one or two others would join them and you are left without enough teams for the leagues.....
-
No.Steffanie Jensen.I remember seeing her ride 80cc in a team with another young girl(Nanna Jorgensen),who eventually signed, just for publicity purposes for a polish team.Never rode for them though.I think Stef had a bad accident and broke her leg maybe very soon after moving on to 500cc

Ha ha,it wasn't meant to be a how many brothers and sisters have ridden speedway.Just a thread to show a tv report on these guys As it is I think ex Halifax rider Kurt Hansens son and daughter both ride speedway in Denmark Also a brother and sister rode ice speedway in Finland but I won't try to spell their names!!!!

Howdy Byford was another rider who often done a turn after the meeting. Here after a meeting in Vienna http://www.technischesmuseum.at/motorsport-in-oesterreich/veranstaltung/articleid/2189 Although this is not after or before a meeting, the Hurricane festival is a major music festival held at the Scheeßel longtrack stadium. It probably funds the motorcycle clubs season, rather than their longtrack activities and it says it was at this festival in 2004 that David Bowie gave his last full concert....... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Festival
