  1. Just wondering how the number of Polish riders this season compares with say 10-15 years ago.To me there seems to have been a big drop in the number of riders, but could probably be wrong
  2. Seems sad that speedway can't even run a fairly simple league of 3 teams without running into trouble.Maybe I am missing something, but I can't see the controversy in the decision, although those running the league were obviously caught out by not having a rule in place for this
  3. These days you just have to search youtube or such and you will normally find something...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l0qaTI1ihI
  4. Short video from Berlin.Think more is to come.Probably as usual on sunday night http://mediathek.rbb-online.de/tv/Abendschau/Die-hohe-Kunst-des-Schlitterns/rbb-Fernsehen/Video?documentId=33878942&topRessort=tv&bcastId=3822076 http://mediathek.rbb-online.de/tv/zibb/Motorsport-auf-dem-Eis/rbb-Fernsehen/Video?documentId=33879190&topRessort=tv&bcastId=3822084
  5. On the German forum it states that Seifter is out injured for Berlin. His place is taken by Niedermaier and Max's wildcard goes to Hans Weber....not sure if that is confirmed
  6. Not sure it really matters. Also you just have to look at the state boxing is in.Back in the 70s there were just 2 or 3 world federations, now anyone with a bit of money seems to be able to set up a federation and hold world title fights. Is there really anything to stop someone doing the same with another world or European speedway title ?But in any case it is all ok'ed by the FIM and so money should be going back into the speedway pot
  7. Does the Spengler Cup qualify?Does seem a number of leagues take a bit of a break for that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spengler_Cup In any case,it doesn't really matter....all this do any other sports etc.Speedway is fairly unique in a lot of ways with most riders riding in a number of different leagues
  8. No,but someone has got more money than sense.............3 Germans in a team facing those others
  9. It is here, mostly in German.I guess they have got it from the FIM track regs, which I tried to look at but couldn't because I can't seem to open the blooming pdf's!!! http://www.speedway-forum.de/index.php/Thread/13267-FIM-Standards-for-Track-Racing-Circuits-2016/?postID=231194#post231194 What I do know is that some German officials were at a couple of meetings in the past week.I think one in Switzerland and 1 in Hamburg and all this came out after that.Think one convo was on facebook from someone saying they are just back from Hamburg and there are to be changes to all tracks etc and how can they afford it,but couldn't find that today .But there has been one or two discussions about the FIM standards at the Ice Speedway, which must also come under these regs,
  10. I also haven't read it from the beginning, but it seems to have developed into a 'pick the bet pair for a country'.Now obviously Morton wouldn't feature in hardly anyones best pair for England, but given you say Belle Vue then ok.But Ivan and Barry were super there. In the pairs meetings that were held at Belle Vue Ivan beat PC both times(74 + 77) and at their best i'd take Briggo to beat Morton even if he didn't beat PC,which he probably would have more often than not.So at best i'd say a 4-2 to NZ .I understand what you are doing, but by choosing BV,you are choosing one of the best tracks for the NZ pairing
  11. I think I would take Mauger and Briggo over those two.Ivan had a few great seasons there(11.67,11.18,11.33,11.37....some record) and what about Briggos BLRC record......
  12. Seen a discussion about new FIM standards for tracks,in particular new tracks must meet these. The older already approved tracks it seems have a bit of time to get up to standard.I guess the new Belle Vue meets this kinetic energy absorbing fence standard? From what I gather the fence the whole way round the track must meet this, not just on the bends
  13. Seems Luca Bauer agrees with me about his starts and that he can't give better competiton that advantage(i.e German Championship),but seems he did have technical problems rather than just being a bad gater http://www.speedweek.com/eisspeedwayem/news/88215/Luca-Bauer-Miese-Starts-dann-Angriff-auc39fen-herum.html
  14. Just seen this and not that it makes much difference and turns Austria into a great side, but surely Leopold Killmeyer should be one of their riders, having been runner up 3 times in the Paris run world finals?Neither Funk nor Hauzinger had anything like that record Uhlenbrock's inclusion for East Germany is also very questionable considering his record https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Deutschen_Meister_im_Speedway And not a great fan of Smolinski, but maybe his record of actually riding in the series and winning a GP and a few national titles puts him ahead of Maier?Just a thought there
  15. Emil is box office. You don't ask him to qualify. It would be like asking Marlon Brando to do an audition
  16. Doubt it.Will be a spontaneous decision based on what my kids are doing.I have the Assen weekend free, but again that will be a day before decision based on weather, because we have a great speedway meeting on that weekend with Nicki P and Emil etc
  17. Looking to Robert Lambert to really come on and smash his way into the top this year.Hope all the young British guys do well.Looking to Wajknecht and 1 or 2 others to improve big time
  18. I saw the Wild Angels at the Hammersmith Palais supporting Little Richard. Not that this has anything to do with bands playing live at a meeting
  19. Could there be a German going to King's Lynn?Saw mention of a rider looking for a mechanic in the east of England area......maybe another team, but who else is looking for a rider in that area?
  20. You mean one person got it wrong and two people followed like black sheep.Hardly everyone
  21. Yes,i saw that Greg was back on the ice, alongside some of those Russian riders I thought were missing from the season like Akimenko and Baraboshkin.Think Laguta scored about 5pts.But wonder if there has been some sort of break with those riders in the far east or is it just down to finances that they didn't compete in the Russian championship.Eduard Krysov won the meeting if my memory is correct Link for day 2 of the Euro Finals in Ufa.Start in just under an hour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PcvKQbeYKQ&feature=share&app=desktop Krasnikov wins easily. Not really troubled the whole 2 days.Again not a good meeting. The only exciting parts were Luca Bauer passing Ebner jr and the guy in the crowd who slipped and fell just when the camera was on him ....Simon fell whilst leading on the last bend of the run-off for silver.Looked like Solyannikov wasn't happy on the first lap.Seemed as if he was indicating Simon kicked him out of the way on the first bend, but got going again and put pressure on Harald, though why he fell I have no idea.He seemed t be cruising on the inside a bit to easily.Good crowd though. 1.N.Krasnikov 2.D.Solyannikov 3.H.Simon
  22. That is unless the champs decide they don't want to be in,so they ask another team You can't force a team to be in I guess.Just like you can't force a rider to be in the GPs..... Don't think they want it to be any more than a 1 meeting final, just that they might open it up to maybe Germany and Czecho and then have a quali meeting...
  23. Bauer does need to gate better though. From what I have seen so far he isn't that fast from the start and with a better standard it won't be so easy to pass. But a super international debut..
