If you are lucky enough to live in or near Denmark, you can make 3 meetings on a Saturday quite often. This weekend I could go to Esbjerg 10:00,then Grindsted 13:00 and have plenty of time for some food and even a nap before going to Holsted for 19:00......I won't though

Agree BWitcher.Strange turn around I'd agree with Steve Roberts in that having,if you were a BL track,a sister track did provide a chance to see some of the top up and coming youngsters. At Wimbledon we didn't really have that.Ok a few like Gordon Kennett and Ted Hubbard would appear, but generally our record in the 70s and 80s of bringing youngsters through was fairly poor.We did have the bonus that when a big meeting was held at Wembley some of those overseas riders might turn up for an 'after meeting' run out.Which was then even later than the second half We also got an early look at Scott Autrey and Sumner McKnight who appeared in a second half at the start f the '73 season Like I say,i stayed for everything even after meeting laps, but the fact is most went after the last heat of the main meeting.

Oxford was a favourite destination on Bank Holidays for me.Remember the Dons supporters bus stopped there for an Oxford v Coventry meeting on our way to see the Dons(well it was a bit of a made up team with Bernie Leigh,Mick Bell and John Davis )get spanked by Neil Street + Crump in 1974.Was there earlier in the season to see the Dons in the BL.Then the next season we had a home + away double with Oxford on august Bank Holiday.Oxford had the amazing Helgi Langli...... What ever happened to Wayne Muddle?Remember seeing him in a second half at Oxford and looking at his results it seemed he only appeared in 2 meetings a few seasons later for Barrow?

Norway could take a few points off GB I think.Frederiksen is not a bad rider and in Moi at least they have another who has a lot of experience on Danish tracks.Sundvor I think also. Not sure about the others -
It is what used to happen in the 70s and 80s.I generally always stayed, but I was in a minority. Some I guess look back through rose tinted glasses or maybe the tracks I visited were different to those others visited and most people stayed, though I doubt it

World U21 Team Championships 2016

Was thinking of going to this(Holsted) as it looked fairly even.Denmark not as strong as previous years.Australia look fairly good with one form Fricke and Kurtz having had a season of riding for Holsted before he came to GB.Now with wajkneckt in the team looks a lot weaker and as they are shutting the motorway I think I will just look at the result n the net -
It is difficult to punish. It is obvious Andersen broke the rule of not racing at all times, but how can you prove Ljung was in on the deal unless you overheard them discussing the heat in the pits? I do recall passing two riders in the pits at a meeting who were discussing what they were going to do in a heat,so it does happen......

Yes,i think Phil just means that when he hides the first post,he also hides the subsequent posts that are following on or they just don't make sense.I know this means that some of my excellent remarks are no longer to be seen, but it is a price I am willing to pay -

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

As a country we have a tradition of free speech or even free silence.No-one should be forced to sing a bloody anthem. It just isn't important -

I feel very close to both clubs and of course Cities as they are of course traditionally German cities.I think one of the earliest references to Zielona Gora was a document that mentioned Gruninberg(Grünberg) and of course Gorzow was Landsberg and both were protestant for many many years. It is only relatively recently that the Germans were forced out and Polish people from other areas populated them But of course Eddie and Zenon were the daddies of polish speedway and had the men from the green mountain in their pockets -

I can tell you how many world champions Poland have had and even name them within 1 second. Not many countries you can do that with. All other speedway stuff is a side issue -

Woffinden isn't really bothered about Ekstraliga. He uses it as practice and to get very many €'s in his pocket,so he can win things that matter -
2016 Speedway Gp Qualifiers
iris123 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Very hard on the riders, but also hard to say someone would probably have qualified.King still had to go up against Smoli,Jedrzejak and Wölbert for instance.Could quite easily have come out of that with a zero.Find it very unfair when the heats aren't completed as it is pure luck who you have met at that stage.Looking at the Ljubjana U21 EM semi and the top 3 were due to meet in the next heat before it was abandoned,so someone was bound to drop points and Härtel looked to have his easiest heat and a few other should have picked up points or dropped them,so the end results would have been different .I know Kevin was happy to get out of the meeting without injury -
Thing is as you have admitted,it was tried and scrapped. And if it was just because of a lip,i think people at the time would have been clever enough to think ok,we make it a 30 degree angle and job done.Doubt they just thought it had to have a lip or it won't work If you came up with a new idea, then ok,suck it and see.But you have just thought about an old idea that was kicked out after a number of seasons. In America they had wooden board tracks that went for a number of years and then were scrapped and haven't been resurrected even though they were very spectacular and even dangerous.Sure now they might be able to make them less dangerous, but times have moved on

This is a fact and no mistake.Since Jerzy was lucky to win the first title for Poland...... Denmark have won 13 titles Sweden have won 8 titles USA have won 7 titles UK have won 6 titles Australia have won 4 titles Even New Zealand managed 2 titles then we have the minnows of Germany + Poland who have both won 1 title each!!!!!! Think enough have been said on the subject. When Poland can get above Germany and New Zealand then come back and talk to us about world speedway

Fritz Dirtl has been mentioned a few times on this forum. Was in the same meeing in Vienna when a tragic accident happened to a polish rider who rode into concrete stairs that were incredibly over the track at the time.Dirtl himself was tragically killed in 1956 when another polish rider rode over his head after he had fallen http://www.reisemosaik.at/Oldtimer/Personen/Rennfahrer_Sandbahn.html#Dirtl Actually Gem,on the other thread previously you mentioned a rider,Sid Hipperson who flipped and had a bad accident. Are you saying this is another incident at the same track,as someone else mentioned Billy Bales having a bad accident at Leicester as well!!!
