  1. Similar to the Bundesliga.Swapped from one to the other.Would be a bit strange to recognise the Bundesliga champs from a few years and not from others just because some years it was a 4tt format
  2. Ex-riders.Let them in for free you b....u.....g.....g....e.....r......s.Spoiling the sport not being able to stand next to some old guy you have never heard of telling you throughout the meeting what a great feeling it was racing around Hyde Road and how the riders of today don't know how good they have it and how we are better out of the EU and should send back all the scrounging foreigners etc
  3. So far as i know watching a stream won't get you into trouble.Only if you have to download something like Sopcast to watch them, could get your collar felt, though very unlikely
  4. Hahahaha Comedy Gold.A Reading fan and a Mickey Mouse fan having a battle of wits
  5. Is this post saying that once someone retires the access passwords should automatically be handed over? Do we know if Dave Hunting or Huntley or both have retired?Or at least were retired before they passed away?Seems like you might have stumbled on another scandal ripping pensioners off. Then again, maybe he didn't pay his fees and the people with access took the site down? Pity, because if that was the site with all the British Champions etc listed from the 40s or 50s it was a very informative site
  6. What if he qualifies and then decides not to ride in the EL?
  7. The Racers and St.Heliers Saints were based by Mitcham Common. The Broadsiders in Streatham. So would seem to have nothing to do with Mitcham Stadium or Jimmy Kilsby By the time of the St.Helier Saints he league consisted of Tooting Tigers, Wandsworth Aces, Washington Wasps, Cheam Cherokees, Chessington Aces, Battersea Broadsiders, Battersea Racers, Clapham Racers, Clapham Phantoms, Beddington Hammers, Carshalton Comets, Tolworth Tigers, Raynes Park Racers, St. Helier Saints, and Morden Stars. http://www.heliermemories.org.uk/page_id__289.aspx
  8. Holland definitely in the past few years had a league of sorts.3 or 4 teams.Austria had clubs challenges(Ove Fundon amongst others riding for the Vienna club i think, but have never seen any evidence of a league
  9. If i remember rightly Hungary did field a team in the lowest polish leage in the last 10 years, just like Prague had a team as well as Daugavpils from Latvia, who are the only survivors of the foreign teams Sandor Levai is listed as having raced for Honved i think, but might have just been a club like Debrecen that organised meetings and had a few challenge matches against others?
  10. I have posted a few times the numbers over the years and i do seem to remember a lot more 50cc riders than are now active.Must be a bit of a worry that they are nearly 50% down on a few years ago.Just a blip or more permanent?
  11. Just in Denmark(ok there are a few Germans etc included) There are about 100 500cc,120 85cc and 80 50cc(quite a bit down on a few years ago I think) and then about 40 old boys riding
  12. Did get a few mentins some years back and i did manage to find a photo http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=42554&hl=+mitcham%20+stadium
  13. Yes,that is why i tried to put up some photos from that period.Doesn't show the pitch from a birds-eye view, which would be better, but does show how far the crowd is from the pitch and how low they stand at the front
  14. I do wonder how suitable the old Arsenal Stadium was for speedway.Don't think it was that big, there was no fencing around the pitch, and the front rows of the terracing werea few feet below the pitch so spectators heads were about pitch level.Any speedway fence would have made the use of the first dozen terrace steps useless,i'd guess. Not the same at Stamford Bridge and Wembley and White City for instance as they had a different shape that allowed a track outside the football pitch.Ok Wembley had to have the corners up,but at Arsenal the track would have caused far greater problems i would have thought http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/worlds-greatest-ground-photographic-centenary-celebration-highbury?page=0%2C4
  15. Think people in England have other things on their mind this week, rather than how poor Harris has rode for some rubbish polish team.Krakow must be Krackers to make the same mistake twice. No sympathy
  16. Maybe there were two attempts at speedway in Charlton?I am sure I read it in the Speedway Star and found the article in one of my Stars a few years back. And I didn't start buying the Star until 1973........
  17. That is what I thought re rules changed.Glad you seem to agree with me
  18. Wasn't there another London football ground where it was announced speedway might move into?Down at Charlton Athletic in the 70s.Not sure what happened there apart from nothing much
  19. Just going back to the op,and this was discussed years back when Hans came in and went really well, but I can't remember the answer.Do Freddies points actually count officially?Sure I remember some saying as Hans wasn't one of the original 15 riders his points didn't count towards the title.....Sure someone will know the answer
  20. Not bad for a Reading fan.Worked that out in under an hour
  21. Not really sure what is interesting there. Most of the ebay things are no longer available to see.Just a strange guy called 'tulse hill terry' who is asking about the date of an item and a few posts later states It is all a bit weird and wonder if John Hyam has any input to that piece?
  22. I must admit to not being a big fan of Gerry Humble, but he got his place by right and when fit should ride in the remaining GPs Vote keep Gerry Humble in the GPs.Vote Remain
  23. The real drop in Andrews average happened in 1963 though. The drop in '64 was less dramatic
  24. I'd definitely say there should be some tiered pass, but whatever the tiers, and I think someone like PC or Olle Nygren should get a life time free pass, someone like a 'Rob Homer' shouldn't be considered as anything more than part of the paying public. You can't go giving privileges out to people who done a hobby for a short time with little success. They lived a dream and like I said before, got out of the sport as much as they contributed, which was very little
