  1. Money i guess.Think the club make a mint from their Bergring grasstrack weekend A very good meeting on the friday night as well with a Peace + Friendship Cup with German and Russian riders at nearby Wittstock Team Russia Andrey Kudryashov Viktor Kulakov Renat Gafurov Emil Sayfutdinov Vadim Tarasenko Gleb Chugunov Team Germany Mathias Schultz Steven Mauer Christian Hefenbrock Matten Kröger Michael Härtel Mirko Wolter Mads Hansen (Denmark)!!!! ® Maximilian Pott Might be a change or 2.Think Hefenbrock was in hospital a day or so ago.Might be wrong there Wittstock was used by the Russians for bombing practice back in the old communist days and it is estimated that about 100,000 unexploded bombs are still in an exclusion zone there. So there are old traditions of German/Russian "friendship" which i think is what this meeting is refering to
  2. Wasn't sure how to word it.I thought of "Individual meetings for living riders",but then they all are and "Individual meetings in honour of living riders" was too long to fit etc
  3. Came up on another topic about Jerzy Szczakiel being shunned in his homeland, but i mentioned there was actually an annual individual meeting in his honour held at his former club Opole. Then it came to me that far from being shunned this was actually quite an honour.Maybe even unique in speedway.Generally we have memorial meetings for deceased stars, but are(were there) there any other meetings in honour of a rider still alive? Of course we have the Ove Fundin trophy for the SWC,but the actual meeting isn't named after him as far as i know, just the trophy. And if i am correct both the Ronnie Moore trophy meeting and the current Nicki Pedersen one are trophies donated by the riders themselves for young up and coming riders, rather than being in their honour.Think i read somewhere that the young Dane Mikkel Bech will also start a competition for juniors in his name. This is something different to what i am talking about anyone?
  4. Just saying like..... Thinking about it,just how many world champs have a meeting in their honour? All i know of are the Jack Young meet in Austraia which doesn't have a great line-up and that Peter Craven meet which has been on-off over the years and i am not sure but that line-up is also not great. So Jerzy is the only living world champ to have a meeting
  5. You make snide comments at Steve just because he has a bit more techie knowedge and tried to help people!!!Basically accused him of lying that he really could see meetings just because you couldn't.Get over yourself. How many times have you said you are leaving now?
  6. Ignore him Steve.Another of those trolls like tremmor and gustix.
  7. That is part of the problem Denmark faces. He probably is,which indicates for me that Denmark is at a low at the moment. No real talent on the near horizon. But it is a problem around the speedway world excluding Poland.Of course Denmark have to have probably 2 riders in the series and Iversen is probably assured of 1 of them.Just he doesn't bring much to the show for me.I want riders who add something and he doesn't apart from a Danish race jacket. He never seemed that popular as a rider,in Denmark.Behind Nicki + Hans and for me is about as interesting as Hancock without the success. If i was picking two danes then Nicki for his past success and his media/fan following and he always seems to get good sponsors because of that, and Kildemand because of his excitement/crash stuuf, which leaves Iversen as the odd man out.Just my opinion Sometimes the best riders in the leagues just don't do it on the world stage.Ok he did make 3rd and 4th,but for me i can't even see him repeating that
  8. Whatever happens unless Iversen shows some sort of improvement over the last few GPs then no way would i put him in again.Blows luke warm and cold too often, hasn't got anywhere near being hot this season and doubt next will be any better.Kildemand is good for a bit of action now and again. For me Nicki would only be in because of what he has done in the past, not for what he has done this season and i fear next will also be slightly worse than this. For me Emil is a must if he wants it and Jarek deserve it.They are for me the 2 i would certainly give it to.But the world isn't as fair as me
  9. But if we follow Ljungs way of thinking then there would always be a decent rider at no.5 so BSI get who they want.Doesn't seem that was the case in previous years. As for quality of rider, didn't Smoli get through the next year and then win a GP in NZ after that?
  10. Sounds like a poor loser to me.First this interview seems like it was an after meeting one.If it was a statement from before the meeting then ok But by looking at past GP Challenges then the no.5 doesn't seem to be a great draw 2016 Covatti 10th 2015 Hans finished 10th 2014 Lahti finished 15th 2013 Smoli finished 11th 2012 Ulamek 8th 2011 Zetters 5th...... think i am a year out with those....
  11. Egon back on tv today and back on his bike again for the annual revival meeting in Hamburg....with an Ariel Red Hunter sidecar as another special attraction. Only 2 minute report in at 0:20:30 http://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendungen/hamburg_journal/Hamburg-Journal,sendung551476.html
  12. Bjerre in with a chance if Freddie gets into the top 8 anyway.......pah!!!
  13. Guess it is just fate that Jerzy was associated with a team who are not really one of the high profile ones......Tommy Janssons memorial meeting was also a 2nd tier meeting with 2nd tier riders when Wimbeldon dropped down. And on the other point i don't really remember any of the old British world champs being ever or often present at meetings or on tv.The likes of Freddie Williams or Tommy Price.Maybe they were and i missed them?.Maybe Jerzy was and you missed him?.Maybe he attends most Opole meetings? No doubt he wasn't the most popular rider ever in Poland. That is fact
  14. Mikkel Bech got the hump after being dropped and has resigned from the Esbjerg squad
  15. Of course they should and in an ideal world would. Not always possible with the itinerary they have.Meeting, lift to the airport, fly to another country, lift from the airport meeting, maybe travel in their mobile home/workshop to another meeting etc etc.I often see riders on Facebook asking if anyone can pick them up or take them to a track or airport. They rely on friends and it seems fairly often these plans go awry because of an accident or breakdown and the expected time to get some kip is gone and they turn up to a meeting cream crackered.Seems it is often small jurneys which don't really give you much time to get some decent sleep. If you travel 60 or 90 minutes to an airport and then check in and wait and then have a 60.90 minute flight etc where is the time for a deep sleep?
  16. Surely you point out where drug use can be of benefit?Racing several times a week in different countries, sleeping in different hotels or on the road, waiting at airports etc.Must be a drug that helps keep you on it and as also mentioned being a bit hyper will help you go for the gaps, take chances that when in a normal condition you might not take.....
  17. You don't seem to understand a perfectly clear statement.Mama didn't say league racing wasn't the most important part of speedway. He just said it wasn't the only important part of the sport.
  18. I can cope with making myself look stupid once, not that it has happened today, when you make yourself look stupid every time you post!!!!!
  19. Yes,probably more interest here than there was in Poland, looking at the crowd.Or was there something interesting on tv today? hahahahahahahaha
  20. Says the guy who has spent his time posting on a thread of a meeting hardly anyone could be bothered to attend.Guess there was a big womens basketball game in Poland today hahahahahaha.......i know they normally use mice to do experiments on,but i think this guy has also had some experiments done on him hahahahahahaha
  21. Hahahahahahahahaha....obviously more prestigious than a packed stadium for the world championship. An empty stadium for some title no fan cares about!!!! hahahahahahahahaha
  22. Didn't they also sponsor one f the Russian teams?Might have been a meeting in Russia......
  23. Basicall y Steve Poland just aren't a sporting country like we know them. They don't produce many reat sportspeople and the people of Poland don't go to many sporting events.Maybe they like watching it on tv or now livestream, but look at their attendances and it is really very low If you look at the recent Olympics,Poland with a pop of 38 million were below countries like Denmark and Sweden, who have populations of 25% of what Poland has.Look at their attendances at Speedway and football and their gates are around 8,000 average in the main leagues. With 25% of their population Sweden get more at football and Denmark get about 1,000 less.Poor crowds, poor performances and we get some clown trying to big it all up When Pland can compete on the world stage in sport then we look forward to hearing from him.Until then...........GP in Poland and their only chance is 4th
  24. There is a song about travelling to Lodz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Eo-8ZDaTb0
