Surely wiring can be sold as scrap metal? And plastic seating can possibly be sold on.The speedway stadium at Norden is fitted out with the old seats from Werder Bremens stadium. The thing i don't understand though is it has been stated that the seats were broken up.That sounds a bit crazy

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
iris123 replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If you start off using false information you will end up with a wrong conclusion London "these days" isn't populated by over 50% of citizens who were born in a foreign country. Some parts of London have a population where 50% or more were born in a foreign country. But a large number of these were born in Poland,a big speedway country.Even if we know in real terms not that many Polish peple attend speedway Totally incredible conclusion at the end.Have you never seen stadiums in India or Africa full at sporting events? Are you saying outside of WASP's nobody is interested in sport? -
Is it possible Jack Keen can help you?Or maybe Pengepics?

Things Looking Brighter For Young British Riders
iris123 replied to Wildcat Steve's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Trying to answer my own question to some extent i have looked at the final green sheets George Piper ended with 3.00,Brendan Johnson 6.21 and James Purchase 3.59.Not overly promising on that front. Also looking through i noticed Sam Woods on a 3.00.Kelsey Dugard 4.28 Zach Wajknecht is up on 8.59 which is promising.Matt Williamson sounds promising with his average, but many seem to have been around for an age and probably won't get much better now.Adam Ellis,Mitchell Davey,Ashley Morris -

Things Looking Brighter For Young British Riders
iris123 replied to Wildcat Steve's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
What is the end of season result then with the new young riders and those that made a comeback this year?Did they all make it through till the end.Who was a success and who didn't live up to expectations? And who can we look forward to making progress next season? Just read someone suggesting Nathan Greaves needs another year in the NL,which seems a bit disappointing.Remember the old Greaves/Lambert thread announcing the arrival of 2 promising youngsters. Now Robert is on the way to establishing an international career, whilst Nathan hasn't progressed much -
Saw him ride at Briggos farewell meeting at Hull and then met him years later at Vojens. Was very nice and had a laugh at how he was disliked by the Wimbledon fans and they used to throw things at him because he beat Ronnie Moore

Met him in the Wimbledon pits after a Sheffield meeting. Was a bit weird.Started calling me the wizard and even wrote his autograph "To the wizard...",but don't remember him wearing glasses

There are always two sides to a story. For every horror trip there are trips that went without problem. The Ice Speedway riders travel through Russia alone mostly without problem.Think one of our members Mark246(?) has done the trip by road with his bikes. You can i think he said get stopped and the police will find any problem to pocket some money. But the likes of Harald Simon do the trip year after year,so it can't be too bad.Just luck or bad luck I did though see a programme about the Russian pull out of East Germany and at first Soviet soldiers were travelling back on their own and getting robbed and beaten up passing through Poland and in the end the heirachy had to put a stop to it and only allowed groups to travel together. Remember also seeing a docu about two motorbike riders travelling through the old ex Soviet Republics and i think in Kazakhstan had trouble and waved down a passing lorry for help. The driver got out and pulled a gun out and took one of their expensive video cameras with him.....But this sort of thing could also happen in the US i guess, out in the middle of nowhere -
Wasn't only th face gear. You could also recognise some riders just by the boots

That is poor.If the families were entered into the Olympics, those 3 golds and a bronze would place them higher than a gold and a silver.By your reckoning the Collins family are getting help from the Morton family or some others to gain thse 10 golds. It is like Brazil getting help from Columbia. If the Collins brothers wona pairs title together then ok,you can include it,or if the Collins family formed a World Cup team and won a medal, include it.Trouble is for the Crump/Street family they are at a disadvantage in your calculations because for Jason there wasn't a pairs title to compete for and for Street there wasn't an Australian team for most of his career. If we use anything other than individual titles it is quite possible for someone to gain a medal without scoring or hardly scoring, just because his team mates(not in his family) have performed great So on individual titles it is the Crump/Street family or the Riss family followed by the Collins family
-
Surely Jason with 3 wins and Phil with a 3rd,trumps that

If we are just naming families what about the Tomiceks or Janssons(Joel,Tommy,Bo,Jimmy and now another coming along),Drymls

British Based Polish League Team?
iris123 replied to Knightime's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But this is exactly what the PZM want to do this season. That is ban riders who ride in too many leagues. It is what the British League done in the past by banning anyone who rode in the Swedish League. As i said if the BSPA aren't happy with the competition then they go to the FIM and tell them so and it wouldn't be allowed. You can't just open up and start an opposing competition without the home associations agreement. And why would the PZM want something like this?Nothing in it for them really. Why would the BSPA want something like this?Takes away from their own competitions.A no go.Just another wacky fan idea -

Apart from anything else,Brexit might make it unlikely for a non-EU team to compete within th EU.But i don't think it would be allowed anyway -

It is a rival to the BSPAs own leagues. They ain't going to allow that, just like they weren't going to allow someone to set up their own speedway series or allow someone to run pirate meetings. They just threaten any riders who ride to ban them from BSPA tracks etc It is a bit different to Daugavpils,Debrecen or Prague who don't have a league or not one of any real worth entering. -
Not saying it is right, and not saying it is wrong.Just saying if i was in their position that is what i would do.Money talks. In my opinion there are only a few big meetings that are going to bring in decent crowds. They ain't going to holst a GP.So it is SWC rounds and an SEC Final.SWC finals will only be given every few years. So it has to be an SWC quali and an SEC Final.U21 finals don't really attract that many in my experience. I am a supporter of the little men as much as the next person.Realistically you should be looking to get Sandhoppers into the Champions League
-
As i said on another thread, the BSPA now have a National Stadium that needs big meetings. In reality there are only very few big meetings and there are a number of tracks after them.It is absolutely necessary now for the BSPA to climb down from their high horse and deal with One Sport so that they can get one of the few big meetings that is reasonably possible to host each year i.e an SEC Final round

British Based Polish League Team?
iris123 replied to Knightime's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never happen. In Hamburg our Ice Hockey team closed down last season despite crowds of 7,000.The Russian League looked into starting a team here as they have done in a few other countries(so i have heard),but of course this idea was blocked by the German Budesliga as it was seen as a competitor. The same as the BSPA would turn down this idea as fighting against their own leagues Nice idea, but a definite no-goer -
Not forgetting the Riss family.Gerd,Erik and Mark.10 individual world titles there.Though all Longtrack
