  1. Amost a new thread in itself. They came, they saw, they conquered and wished they never came back
  2. Think this is the third time this has been posted over the past couple of months?ACU press release and threat to speedway?
  3. I do remember Lofqvist being named in one or two Wimbledon programmes, but he never turned up.And i do seem to remember Bast riding after one meeting.Think it was also suggested that Ivan was coming back to Plough Lane and it was almost a done deal, before he went to Exeter
  4. Wasn't Andrew Silver the classic case of a rider who had a great style for small tracks, but Ivan Mauger,i think warned him he had to change if he wanted to become a top international star?Don't think he ever did manage either, but he was very exciting and could get around Blunsdon quite well
  5. What about Pavlic.Didn't he get a max on his debut? What track was that and did he ever return?
  6. Wasn't it Jan Steachmann who when he had trouble with a track went back again and again to try and better himself? The great Hans Nielsen had for years trouble with big tracks, but went on to become one of the best ever. You could look at how Australians and Poles, who generally have big tracks fare on the world scene against Americans, who generally have small tracks.Although back in the 70s i do think riders like Autrey often rode big dirt tracks like Ascot as well, though that wasn't speedway
  7. Great stuff chaps. Is there any chance that someone got a max at Shelbourne and never returned?
  8. Well i suppose they could divert the funds that were going to some Ethiopian girl band!!!!
  9. And just this morning is see that GB could well be the first Country to recognise jumping around buildings i.e Parcours as a sport!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saG4EdyAgUQ
  10. Think after Härtel comes a Czech(Stichauer?)in the waiting list, but offer enough money and you're probably in
  11. Yes,just seen Michi Härtel is now in,so at least one young German and old man Katt. Not a great line-up German wise without Smoli or Riss.Really would rather Härtel concentrated on speedway like the rest. From Härtels press release it seems almost certain Berge won't ride.........like you say,the sport is a bit of a joke, though i have been saying for years Harris should concentrate on it rather than speedway GPs where he is well out of his depth
  12. Super info Bavarian But were there 2 F.Meyniers in the team v Hackney?Guess it was L.Boulard re-reading it as you say there were no changes
  13. Seems from FB that Erik Riss wil be joining the City Team alongside Tobi Kroner and Kai Huckenbeck. He also announced a day or so ago that he is giving up Longtrack racing
  14. http://www.speedwaywa.net.au/Rob-Woffinden-Classic-Wrap-2017.html Final https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzpKmdVuiDQ
  15. Just in case anyone thinks gustix moves on when no-one comments, here is a little sample just from this thread,in case someone has missed the message
  16. We now have two new Austrian additions in Daniel Gappmaier and Fritz wallner, who will be making another appearance this season after their start in the PL last year.
  17. That is your opinion, but facts seem to show otherwise. He has certain subjects that he keeps repeating year after year, not only for a few days or weeks. He never moves on,so gets the same response time after time As the old song goes Will the circle be unbroken By and by, by and by? Is a better home awaiting In the sky, in the sky?
  18. All seems clear now Bavarian Wonder who the foreign reporter for the Speedway Star was, though?????
  19. It is a danger. Some of the people who actually attend meetings are seemingly not that keen on him, whilst one of his biggest fans doesn't attend nay speedway nowadays......... It is a whole new ball game.I personally love this level of the sport, love to see young riders making their first steps in the sport, but admit an experienced rider can help.I just hope Lakeside make a success of it and fans give this level and these riders a chance
  20. Gets harder all the time to have sports facilities near housing.Just had a problem here where an all weather football pitch had its use restricted because a neighbour complained about the noise.Luckily the restriction has just been overturned, but one person complaining is all that is needed
  21. Of course. You have just made some guess work of your own which might also tarnish innocent reputations.Guess work is what makes up more than half of this forum. Thanks for the input
  22. Mick Bell, only had a relatively short career, but won a couple of team titles and was a steady performer.Luckily for me he wasn't in anyones shadow as far as i know
  23. I agree.I thought they were flying around Europe looking at tracks trying to see what they wanted for a shape and surface etc,and not just looking at Vojens covers. So why they made a detailed plan of what they wanted and then just left it to someone else is strange.Basically it all seems a bit strange from before last season
  24. Yeah,Ned Kelly would be around the time of my great grandad give or take.Bit further back than Flash Gordon But his job(Deep sea diver) was going even further back.Around 1830 And of course if you consider Ned Kelly's head piece to be a full face helmet then why not one of the old Knights? Not Milton Keynes,i hasten to add Or Romans or or or
