  1. Oh,i did see a comment that there were more fans before the delay!! Wish you better luck tomorrow
  2. I guess so.Doesn't seem that Biddle was in the class of Jack Parker.Unless the "show" was Biddle was a great starter and Jack toyed with him before making a pass
  3. It would make sense if he was a BSA employee to be riding at the track by the factory..Possibly where he started out.But what is the connection with Jack Parker?Wasn't he at Coventry at this time(1929)? Again having checked the Researcher it seems some data isn't available,so he could have ridden.Maybe it is though just false info
  4. Have seen in the 1958 American Motorcycle mag that there is a listing in Hancocks Bridge,New Jersey for a Biddle's BSA and Ariel sales and services.Could this be the same guy who went back and set up a shop? Not unlike former riders of the time
  5. Some info http://www.wikivisually.com/wiki/Sprouts_Elder
  6. Todays GP has been put back a coupleof hours because of heavy fog,but it looks like it will be hard to get a meeting!!!!! http://medeu.com.kz/cameras/ Not many fans turned up,unless they are all in the bars keeping warm Edit:Now it looks like the fog has cleared and they are working towards starting the meeting
  7. You also had the brother of Leopold Killmeyer,Karl, who was a well known entertainer as well as rider https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrXTKP3uuW0 Pre-Egon Müller of course
  8. Here is what Peter Morrish had to say in his review of the 1951 season "37 teams were due to contest the 1951 league programme but the decline continued and Southampton and Sheffield fell by the wayside.Something near to panic set in as the year progressed with the usual subjects of pay rates and the entertainment tax looming large.March saw promoters seeking to cut pay rates by 12.5 %,and a Wimbledon meeting was cancelled as the inevitable dispute dragged on.Two First Division tracks admitted they would prefer to join the Second Division for racing with more variety at lower cost...."
  9. Wiggy. The sport needs someone of his class, badly.
  10. A quote from gustix Regardless of who he was talking about riding for New Cross.in what shape was the National League by the time we get to 1951?It looks just as it does today that most teams were doing ok outside of the top league.Division 2 looks quite healthy whereas the top division much like today seems very stale with too few teams riding against each other time and time again The inclusion of the great youngster Ronnie Moore in the top 10 obviously a major plus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951_Speedway_National_League
  11. Here is some information on the National League in 1951 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951_Speedway_National_League And the National League Division 2 http://edinburghspeedway.blogspot.de/2013/04/1951.html Even some famous names in Division 3 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951_Speedway_National_League_Division_Three I have started a new thread on the 1951 season,so i think all further comments should be placed there
  12. It all depens on who is doing the commentary i think. You can get a good presenter and i guess it could be good.Unfortunately we don't in my experience seem to attract that sort,so i'd rather have just the necessary information of who is lining up and in what position they finished etc.We have in recent years here in north Germany a presenter who seems to think he is as important as the riders and gets on my nerves quite frankly
  13. Russian Junior(Team) Championship,live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30dzKjUJvoA&feature=share
  14. Yes,but this is the Council who were giving out the building contracts. They would ensure they go to reputable..........oh,forget that
  15. If i remember correctly i think it opened about 2 years ago.Seem to remember the young German/Austrian rider Mike Jacopetti(think his stepfather is Austrian Ice Speedway rider,Charly Ebner) riding there
  16. I am talking mainly about the GPs.He was great to watch because you never knew when he would blow a fuse.Once he calmed down he just wasn't as interesting. That has nothing to do with how many league meetings and in which country i saw him
  17. He was box office for his pits tantrums on their own. When he cooled his temperament down he did become a bit boring
  18. As i have already said, not really a problem for someone at home watching streams. That has nowt to do with those on this forum, just people who sell boxes or download things.
  19. Fact is,no company is going to be bothered about a handful of people in the UK who are watching streams.Speedway isn't big enough for that.Football is another matter, but i don't see too much in the news about companies going after people watching illegal streams either. They might go after those providing them. And as a news item i posted here about a year ago stated,it is only when you have actually downloaded something that they even bother to try and track someone down.Look at a stream without a downöoad and you are fairly safe, particularly with speedway. It isn't even as if you might have popped down to watch it live........
  20. Actually i got that wrong. The Night Wolves were partners, not sponsors. They were trying to help find some sponsors, which are still lacking at the club
  21. Also footage of day 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKpbCuCUbB8 Footage of Ufa 28.01.2017.Not heard anything, but wonder if the Night Wolves sponsorship has ended? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR3QaKrDkyk Day 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdpaZEXoIKg
  22. I remember seeing it for the first time at a Motorbike Show at Olympia or Earl's Court.in about 1975.There was a stand(quite possibly Motorcycle News)that was showing film of exotic bike racing and they had Ice Speedway. They also had a great piece about that Japanese "speedway" which i found fascinating for its pure theatre.Riders getting n the back of an open truck and were driven out to their bikes.Still have some of the promo bumpf that you get at those places from Suzuki etc.Remember my school mate was more excited in a Vincent Black Shadow they had on display though
  23. http://eisspeedway.blogspot.de/2017/02/video-ice-speedway-gladiators-world_6.html?spref=fb
  24. And what happened in the 1950s with all that news coverage? The sport nearly collapsed and lost a lot of the main teams and had to re-group and only recovered when the BL was formed in 1965.......
  25. Doubt it.Probably following the german example of having exclusive 250cc races within a team meeting
