Surely saying it was xx miles away from Newport or Cardiff would help more.I personally had no idea where Caerphilly was either!!!
-
You seem to have a fair bit in common with my family!!! You lived in the same street in Tooting as my mum and her parents. And my sister was also married in Morden,Registry office in Morden Hall Park to be exact
-
But you yourself have stated that one of your all time favourite riders is jack Parker. The Jack Parker who threatened to kill a young Ronnie Moore if he got in his way.So you are no great judge of character and dignity

It wouldn't feel right to count a whoosh on gustix

Speedwaygb Needs To Get The 'handbrake' On ! - Bradford
iris123 replied to thebaron's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Firstly i don't think speedway is in any position to take on the 'green staszi'.The environmental movement is strong, getting stronger(despite Trump)and isn't going to go away.Speedway on the other hand is getting weaker,no doubt about it.It doesn't really have a lobby or rich backers and full stadiums or any real prestige within society, unlike say, football.Even other lesser sports carry some prestige within the community and people/politicians want to be associated with it.Cricket is one sport i don't like and see empty stadia more often than no when i have accidently tuned in,but it carries prestige within the media and bussiness community and attracts i think good sponsors, unlike speedway The greens are against motorsports per se.There was an attempt here in my city to attract the Formula E Grand Prix,i.e electric cars and the greens were against even that,on the grounds it would cause traffic chaos with roads being closed. Now it was pointed out how ironic this was,as the greens are normally the ones suggesting plans that cause traffic chaos As for the governing body,i think they are making their statement of faith every season,by putting on a reasonable product in many towns and cities against the odds. You can't expect them to do miracles when so many obstacles are in their way.Just one person in the area can put the mockers on such a project. We even had restrictions placed on football pitches in my area because of the noise.I mean on the one hand we want kids to do something productive, then someone complains about the noise of all weather pitches.......what chance does speedway really have? -
Glad we have finally got that cleared up ,so we know it has nothing to do with London Buses or not having any friends who will take you there
-
Think i know the one he is talking about
-
Absolutely.Never had a red card yet,but gustix has recieved quite a few over the years i think Ok as a Belle Vue fan do you know how the move to a new stadium affected the crowd?Up,down or same?Genuine question mind And my thoughts on the "no harm in conjecture" i that gustix has for a long time been predicting the end of speedway and often uses any sort of negative conjecture to spread his negativity onto other threads by pointing out someone on another thread thought the crowds were dropping etc.....that is how he works all a bit lively for a lazy sunday afternoon,i must say
-
You were asking what people think the trend will be.But do we have conclusive evidence of the crowds for the last 3 years to judge them? And will we get facts for this years attendances to compare?
-
Yes i see your point.Rather like me being able to see the difference between Borussia Dortmunds game when all the stadium was open and the other one when the stand holding 26,000 people was closed
-
Ah,but can you give me a year for year break down on how the attendances were from the 1970-1980 period?
-
Isn't it possible to buy a player that plays both?I have no idea, but back in the 80s when those bad American B movies came into fashion,Johnathon Ross for one had a tv series about them,I got a video player that could play both zones,so i could mail order unavailable(in the UK) videos straight from the US.Think it was a Philips make
-
Did you read the word "most".If not then read again and you will get your answer
-
I would have given you quite a few on the general discussions topics,so no problem with that idea But i go back to my earlier post.If there are no official stats how does gustix know where the crowds over the past few years are heading and how will he be able to compare them with this season? Without wanting to get too personal, most topics you post on are dragged down by your depressing attitude. You have such a big downer on present day speedway. No positives with you
-
Some people have friends who will pick them up,take them to a meeting and drop them off back home again. Now why am i not surprised you don't fall into that category
-
For me there are two important things here (1)Without official crowd figures from the sport it is very difficult to know just what has been happening in the last few years in terms of falling or levelling out or a slight rise etc.And so it will be hard to judge how this season compares.Mostly hearsay from people who aren't great at estimating crowd figures (2)Funny how the thread has attracted the "usual suspects" who don't go to meetings. If you get out of your armchair maybe you will be part of a revival? Nuff Said

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
iris123 replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes,but Buzz Burrows on parade is enough to get excited about in itself -
Quite right HertsRacer I didn't realise it was just a nonsensical comparison just because the leagues share the same name.I guess that the reputation of the old National League had dropped so far that on a re-launch in 1965 they decide it was best to drop it and re-brand the product
-
As the saying goes "when in a hole, stop digging" Chris Holder is a former world champion,Jason Doyle was fighting for the title before injury robbed him of that chance.Niels Kristian Iversen;Freddie Lindgren,Matej Zagar etc are all top riders.
-
If you read it again there is no mention of a "B.Leigh".You are making things up.I mention a Barry Leigh and a B.Lee.You are the one who has magically brought a B.Leigh into it to confuse things-yet again To balance things up,i have also had pms and mails about your strange behaviour.Bombarding people with pms complaining about some sleight or another.Or how certain riders disliked your attitude..... .
-
Surely that very fact puts your case on dodgy ground. The fact a couple of late 30 year olds could come in against the top riders could in fact show that the similarities between then and today are very close? It has a number of times on here been pointed out that in the "old days" riders could get on a bike and within weeks get a team spot, which shows it wasn't very professional. Not a case i have made, but one i think BWitcher has on ocassion made
-
In essence there are quite a number of similarities between 1951 and 2016.Neither state of affairs were very healthy and neither season was the world champion riding in the league. You probably just made a typing error and picked the wrong year?
