  1. The first point is the reason promising newcomers like Järf and Tschatschin left or couldn't progress further.Have to hope your boys don't hit the same problem And the second point is what i was refering to with an extended season causing problems for riders who do Polish speedway. The money in Poland is too good to get in the way of a problem of fixture congestion. You can bet that riders would rather ride for a Polish contract than Ice Speedway.I was just wndering if Ice Speedway as an FIM event would have priority and the Ice riders would be made to ride. But then knowing that they might just refuse to qualify for the GPs.Ok it is nly 1 or 2 riders anyway.....
  2. Certainly the revival really got going with Autrey. But as you mention Keeter and even Steve Bast were in the BL a few years earlier.Wasn't it down to Jack Milne getting the revival going in California?
  3. I think it goes without saying that the early riders were the pioneers.Maybe i am misunderstanding what you are questioning?
  4. Got to give the Russians credit. They are trying to help by offering team spots to non-Russian riders.Sadly there just isn't the facilities in Europe to get enough riders interested long enough to really get that far.The world outside Russia is contracting.othing much from the Netherlands,Järf looked a good prospect but fell away as it seems has Weber for Germany. So along with Czecho and Poland neither the Dutch or Germans really have a decent prospect on the horizon and with the retirement of Seifter neither have Austria. The Russians look set to dominate for the next few years. What good would a longer series do as the title could well be decided long before the end and so would the domination of the Russian riders be even more enhanced One country dominating a sport to such an extent just isn't interesting to most people other than a novelty one off visit
  5. Anyway, enough of that mularkey, let's get this thread back on track with the now sadly retired former world champion from either Finland or Sweden, depending on the way the wind was blowing
  6. No it doesn't,because the rules have been changed since then,i believe. That is why a speedway track in Poland hosted a round of the world championship back in 2014.And just because there is no GP this year or last year why do you come to the strange conclusion that "apparently there is no British venue suitable for this type of racing"?It seems you don't really know much about this type of racing and are yet again chipping in with a little bit of knowledge that can be dangerous,as they say
  7. Why do you say there is "no British venue suitable for this type of racing"? Surely a trotting track is suitable if it is ok for Flat Track? They have hosted Longtrack in the UK before.Haldon race course for instance. http://exeterfalcons.proboards.com/thread/642/long-track-video-haldon
  8. Hmmm. Not sure. When i have been to a Longtrack meeting there has been more activity than action
  9. Remember the time i went up to Denmark for the Danish 80cc Final, only to find just as the meeting should have started that they had forgot to book a doctor and had to ring around on a sunday afternoon to find one.Of course we had to wait around until one arrived.About an hour or so and just as the meeting started,so did the rain and got heavier and heavier!!!!!
  10. Just random postings about Longtrack when i get something Wasn't working earlier, but here is a photo.Interesting style
  11. Belgium? As far as i can make out there is one Flat Track meeting in Belgium. Are there more? Can we say if the scene is growing or failing?
  12. Lots of problems i think.Extending the Ice season into the speedway season is a problem for fans,British at least, where the season is well under way,but could cause clashes with the few riders who ride on ice and dirt. The Polish season is getting warmed up by then with training meetings and not sure the Polish clubs will understand one or two riders missing when they have contracts and should be in attendance in Poland
  13. If you look at the official name of North Korea, you will see it is the Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea!!!! Nothing Democratic about the country though......
  14. Think they are all sections of the same forum. But if you want to confuse the situation, then calling each section a different forum is a good way of going about it!!!!
  15. Found some wonderful proof that Flat Track has a foothold in Argentina.Looks quite a decent stadium, that compares well to the Motoarena in Torun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ5Qyn3F_kM hmmmm
  16. Seems like the injury Joonas had training for this Flat Track meeting has meant he has announced his retirement from track racing
  17. Here is the Motoarena in Torun where last week for the "Mickey Mouse" best pairs competition it is said it was half full at 10,000.When there are meaningfull meetings it is packed. Is it worth Flat Track trying to get a meeting on in such a stadium or are they better of at places like Lelystad or Rye House,i wonder? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKUKG7ZUROc
  18. Found this about a launch of Flat Track in the Speedway heartland of Poland back in 2015? Obviously hard to get a foothold in a country where the record crowd in the US of 9,000 plus is weekly on a number of ocassions bettered at speedway tracks around Poland.Any news of how the sport has progressed recently or can we add Poland to the list of countries where Flat Track has failed? The headline states "Flat track with MotoRania in Poland: We are about to open a ranch - how does it work?" http://motormania.com.pl/newsy/swiat/flat-track-z-motormania-w-polsce-juz-niedlugo-otwieramy-ranczo-jak-to-dziala/
  19. I see from a report about the sport in Spain it mentioned that it was tried in the 1980s and 90s but failed to gain a foothold. Now there is a new attempt and who knows how that will pan out.We also had the BMW report that pretty much backed up what i mentioned about the sport in Germany, that it has few fans and even fewer riders.So....... 1.Spain 2.Germany 3.Netherlands 4.Poland Been tried and not really taken off in the Netherlands. Is it worth putting that on the list or should we wait?Any more countries to add? I'll put the unconfirmed countries in provisionally
  20. Are there?Seems from one of the many previous threads on this subject someone is suggesting there is to be an ammendment which will free sports like speedway from this
  21. Could it be that certain meetings might have been held at Tilehurst on a saturday?I never went, but seem to recall attending Smallmead on an afternoon maybe for the British round of the WTC?Not sure if that was on a day other than monday evening,so maybe there was the odd meeting on a sat or sun?
