  1. Just something i saw being discussed on FB and talk of having to get a lawyer...... i hope someone has got the wrong message though
  2. Can you give us a clue ?
  3. Well i guess we can rule out the Ashes, as instead of cheering it would have probably caused a riot
  4. Is it right that Esbjerg are so far keeping the ticket money, so if you want to go to Vojens you have to pay all over again and then hope that you can get a refund from Esbjerg ? Or can you just use the Esbjerg tickets for Vojens, which would seem the rational solution
  5. You would have thought that a few local sponsors had got involved, and are now a bit miffed. Certainly Vojens have little or no time in getting many other than those already involved at the club and maybe some of those that Esbjerg managed to get. Another favour done for the FIM again
  6. I'd agree on that. The sport needs to be as independant as possible. especially away from animal sports I did notice in Germany over the past week that both equestrian and horse racing are now coming under attack.
  7. Yes, a sport already struggling due to costs , climate change and lack of interest, then had Covid added on, and now with the Russia- Ukraine war to boot, it is going to be an extremely difficult winter for the sport
  8. The actual cost of hosting an Ice GP in the west on an artificial track in a stadium they presumably rent out, must be astronomical. Only a healthy sale of beer and grub can make it pay i would guess. But Berlin have been steadily bumping up the prices. Even charge now to watch the training i think, which used to be free
  9. There was hardly a song too bad for Andy Stewart to sing, but he would have baulked at that one
  10. Nice piece for us enthusiasts to watch. But the actual racing sequences were very tame and would only back up the idea that first out of the gate wins. And the commentator gave that more credence by roughly stating that, although he mentioned the top riders Pity really, as surely there was some more exciting clips to use. Not sure where this was shown at the time, but wouldn’t have helped the sport out of the doldrums it found itself in But I enjoyed it
  11. Seems as far as i can see that Thaysen retired in 2019 And at least on FB, the Skaerbaek site has no posts after 2018 , which is a shocker
  12. While we are on the topic and because it popped up on my FB timeline. Possibly the last YGT i attended was when Christian Thaysen won at Skaerbaek Wonder what ever happened to him. Plus as far as i can make out Skaerbaek are no longer running ? At least i couldn't see them in the race calendar
  13. And i would guess those numbers for Denmark are actually boosted now with a handful of German youngsters. In 2002 i think there were very very few. I think Katt did race in Denmark, but that would have been before 2002. All i remember were riders like Sönke Petersen doing 500cc there Wasn't really until the 'Drift Kids' got going, first at Güstrow then moved to Parchim around 2010 that a push towards Danish league 85cc started
  14. I take it some young Finns still ride in the Swedish youth leagues ?
  15. Notable that the entries from around the world have shrunk Always remember Penti Kiski i think his name was with his team of young Finns, who i seem to remember were mostly riding in the Swedish junior league Then the amount of young Aussie talent that came over. Saw Darcy Ward, Arthur Sissis and a host of other youngsters from down under have their first european meetings in this
  16. That is the problem that the local council has stated the Leipzig track must close. It is in a forest and they say although they have nothing against motor sports, it doesn't belong in a sensitive nature area. They say they will help the club find a new area for a track, but we have heard that one before It also i guess puts some of the Swedish tracks in jeopardy, as i think they are also out in the woods etc. Ok some years ago it seemed that was the ideal place, away from suburban areas. Now times have changed and i imagine Sweden is far ahead of Poland etc in that aspect
  17. There are many problems and maybe more meetings in Poland is one of the few options open For one, travel is most probably going to become very expensive in the near future. Which could rule out meetings being held outside of Europe. Will anyone want to take the risk of moving the whole thing down under, to the US or the mooted meeting in Argentina at this time ? Then you have the lack of other alternatives Germany and Teterow are being criticised. Middle of nowhere, bad track etc. And rightly so Denmark has the expensive Parken that lost its popularity. Too expensive and far away from the Danish speedway centre. So we are back at the oft criticised Vojens Then we have Prague. Good city, terrible track and the alternative at Pardubice is as ever a no go because they don't want it We have had goes in Finland, Latvia, Italy etc that were all rubbish in many peoples eyes The one option of Togliatti that might have been ok will seemingly be a no go for years to come at a guess
  18. See Celina Liebman has been given a wild card for the Flat Track world championship meeting in Diedenbergen. Also another female rider Yasmin Poppenreiter from Austria in the meeting
  19. Tbh 50 years ago was another world The UK was the centre of speedway. Access to fairly good stadia, good crowds and tv interest. Half of the speedway world was behind the iron curtain with little money for the sport and fan access from outside was restricted. Even in the west things have improved. For instance since i started going to Denmark Esbjerg and Holsted have made major improvements to the stadium and Vojens less so. But the major change is Poland is for all to see. Stadiums are great and sponsorship to match i'd imagine The UK has been left behind without a doubt. That can't be denied and the centre of garvity has moved east Commonwealth riders had to qualify through British rounds and ride for the British team and US riders had no route into anything. That is how unfair the speedway world was back then
  20. Not having a go at anyone. Just correcting a mistake . That is all
  21. HOLSTED TIGERS 1. Rasmus Jensen 2. Rohan Tungate 3. Lasse Bjerre 4. Adrian Gała 5. Marius Nielsen
  22. Speedway Ekstraliga Camp is our idea for an impulse for foreign federations and help in the development of young slag adepts. We are all responsible for the fate of this sport in the world - says Michał Sikora, President of the Polish Motor Association. The Polish Motor Association and the Speedway Extra League are organizing a Camp for young competitors and adepts of the speedway sport in Toruń. For a week from July 18, licensed competitors from the 125, 250 and 500 cc classes will not only have the opportunity to train at the Toruń Motoarena, but also participate in training competitions. All this so that in the future the world speedway will feed the next generation of competitors, and the geography of speedway did not end with a few countries. - In Poland, we have the best speedway league in the world, the existence of which requires players with the broadest possible geographic potential. Our strategy is global speedway development in cooperation with the International Motorcycle Federation. Using the conditions that we have in Poland, in a few years we can have new Finns, French or Americans in the league, more Swedes and Danes, and maybe even the first Estonians, because there are camp applications from this country - adds Wojciech Stępniewski, President of the Speedway Ekstraliga. PZM and PGE Ekstraliga are organizing a summer Camp for speedway riders from around the world. It will be like in the NBA! Tuesday, June 21, 2022 - Speedway Ekstraliga Camp is our idea for an impulse for foreign federations and help in the development of young slag adepts. We are all responsible for the fate of this sport in the world - says Michał Sikora, President of the Polish Motor Association. For a week from July 18, licensed competitors from the 125, 250 and 500 cc classes will not only have the opportunity to train at the Toruń Motoarena, but also participate in training competitions. - The idea of organizing such a Camp was on our minds before the pandemic, but objective conditions stopped the project - explains Wojciech Stępniewski . - It's not like the speedway will survive thanks to this potential that we only have in Poland. And it is not the case that when we bring to life the U24 Ekstraliga game, we already have all the players in the country who in the coming years will be a direct base for the world's speedway. We believe that many talents can only be released when they show themselves in Poland, and hence a straightforward path to professional organization of their careers. The selection and observation of players for our clubs is one of the premises of the Camp, the possibility of training with the participation of our coaches - this is the second. I am convinced that all roads will be used and that it will bear fruit in the future - adds Wojciech Stępniewski . - We prepared carefully for this event, because we knew that it had a long-term sense, when in Poland we would give young players not only an opportunity to train, but above all we would provide them with conditions and confront some of the best Polish players - emphasizes Michał Sikora , adding that the total costs of the Camp are covered by the organizers, which is a great help for speedway adepts from many parts of the world. - Motoarena is a real motor complex, where we can boast excellent conditions for mini-speedway cultivation, but at the same time we have a stadium and a track ready for 250 cc and 500 cc competitions. Under the care of such coaches as Rafał Dobrucki, Robert Kościecha or Jacek Woźniak, young people from around the world will raise the bar even higher and it will be an incentive for them to train in order to get involved in our leagues. The extra league for speedway riders is like the NBA for basketball players. This is our real professionalism, which young players are sure to strive for - says Michał Sikora . Classes with a tuner, psychologist, physiotherapist, photo sessions, go-kart integration or the opportunity to talk to speedway stars such as Bartosz Zmarzlik, Leon Madsen, Tomasz Gollob or Janusz Kołodziej are some of the many advantages of Speedway Ekstraliga Camp.
  23. The only clip i have found from the meeting and unfortunately it is from the Malek camp and their man trails at the back until just before the end, thus missing any possible other action. But maybe there wasn't any
