  1. A former speedway rider was convicted and jailed for stealing a bike off of another speedway rider...........
  2. Agree.I was thinking about this and wonder if they quickly knocked out a simple jacket, which the early season one was, because the other one caused them difficulties?Maybe the new colour caught the firm out,who had year after year always had the same colours to deal with?Sounds pretty unrealistic, but just wondered........
  3. Thought it was from memory.Sounds reasonable that there was a problem getting the bibs on time
  4. Strange that the design was used on the programme cover from the start, but took a while before the riders had the new snappy design Was the design used for that seasons badge?
  5. In the end Smoli's statement was disappointing.Said the track was terrible, but blamed himself for riding too safe, which is fair enough.
  6. Not sure what i am waiting for most, the draw or Smoli's excuses!!!
  7. Maybe like other sites recently there was a compatability problem?Maybe the person running the sites lost interest. The guy was your old New Cross pal Jim Blanchard.Maybe ask him?
  8. Crazy ruling yet again from the FIM.OK we got the benefit, but total bonkers
  9. Typical of my experiences at Longtracks.Pretty strung out after a lap.But good to see some sort of revival in Sweden
  10. Swedes seem to be making a big effort to get a rider through!!! Not noticed a previous attempt on this scale before
  11. At least 3 of my family rode for them and i also had a "novice" race there myself. But i thought the track is in pretty bad condition. They do have a fairly decent group on Facebook with some great old pics and some meet ups
  12. Same apart from adding Ronnie Moore to that list and possibly Jerzy as well.I do know i met him and got his autogram at Plough Lane. Not sure if i saw him at that time ride though
  13. Controversial. After the problems that the Poles have made for British speedway, why should British speedway help kick start any Pole having problems??? If he does kick start his season,he is likely to be off at the first opportunity........
  14. But surely it isn't just about Cardiff???? How anyone can include Gollob and Pedersen i don't know...........such is life
  15. Seemed to have all blown up again this morning when i looked into Facebook. Stefan Andersson stil ,who i guess is the former rider, but didn't have time to investigate was stating that riders need to have their bikes checked every meeting as average riders are beating good riders too often and stated Poland as the worst. What made me think it was the Stefan Andersson was a couple of former eastbourne riders also jumped in.David Norris said Poland was terrible for cheating and he had a long list of riders he could name.....Another former Eagle then asked him to name names, which he as usual didn't.Even Joe Screen seemed to have a jibe as if he knew something Why is nothing ever done?No-one comes out with any facts, just the usual accusations.......
  16. Certainly looks like someone has something to hide
  17. Great result.Let's hope there is more to come in the Final and it also inspires more from the UK toenter in future.Or should we say inspires those in charge to ask for spots in future competitions
  18. Is there no way you can let people see those posts you chose to put on HIDE?Then it would all make sense and people might get the answer they seek.
  19. Remember Eddie James being involved at Wimbledon.Wonder if it was the same Eddie James who won the world suprstox championship at Plough Lane twice in the 1960s?
  20. From my trips to 'ackney What always struck me first was the strange smell of the place as we approached about a mile away!!! Think it might have been a nearby brewery? Big Arthur the Speedway Mail man standing at the entrance was one of the first things you noticed Len Silver throwing the 50p into the crowd and i managed to get it one week The two souvenir huts as you came in.Always wanted the new season badges The old beardy guy in the back straight stand who used a light and/or magnifying glass to see his programme.Always wondered how bad his eyes must be and now i am approaching his age i am almost as bad!!!! The time i was cycling to the speedway after work near Covent Garden and just as i was coming down through Whitechapel almost falling off my bike with shock as the call to prayers from the nearby mosque started!!! Frightened the life out of me
  21. Not really sure if there is a big difference in sitting in a restaurant, which you say you do on a weekly basis and sitting in a speedway stadium. Is it down to the quality of the seats?
  22. In my defence, even if i was at the meeting i would have been too young to have taken much in.Certainly not individual performances
  23. I'd say just because of his 'world titles' in Paris, that Claude Rye should be included.Because of his motorcycle shop it might also be a bit easier and cheaper to find some memorabilia?
  24. Exactly To be fair,in those days there were it seemed,so many riders about there was always a rider or two who would be someones favourite.Even some in the lower leagues that you used to love to watch.Even as a Dons fan i really liked Paul Whittacker.Never a world beater, but someone who kept me interested..
  25. For me i found him a bit boring considering the other riders around at the time.He was middle of the road.I did appreciate him as being a decent rider, just not a PC or Lee or Chris Morton or Ronnie Moore/Briggo or Ole Olsen. He wasn't a favourite, but also never done anything to make me dislike him either.I wouldn't cheer him and neither was he someone you'd boo,he was that for me ,boring inbetween........until he dropped down to that 'ackney and then he did brefly become interesting. But only briefly
