  1. Danish docu on Ole Olsen. Some great film and photos even if we can't understand what they are saying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv_oSG1TYyU
  2. Wonder if Frank 'Satan' Brewer ever drove around the 'Fastest speedway in the world'???? The city that doubled as a speedway. The original 'frying pan' maybe?
  3. As i stated when this idea was announced,it was a no-goer.I was just surprised anyone thought there was ever a chance......
  4. Long time ago since i read this article, but from memory Anders wasn't a big fan of Olsen
  5. Here is a bit of track history from Aalborg, which is in Denmark and this is a danish site.Baltzer beating a Dick Wise in an international race and later losing a couple of races to ex Wimbledon rider Alfred Rumrich in a Denmark v Germany test http://speedwaylife.com/danske-baner/aalborg-stadion/ Another piece in english about the early days Here is an article in the modern Danish Motor Union magazine,MotorBladet from 2010 which on page 36 has a historical article which mentions Baltzer Hansen https://issuu.com/motorbladet/docs/mb_web_06_10_2 Not sure where you are getting your info, but obviously a spelling mistake has cropped up and maybe even then copied further..... And a very interesting article by well known Danish speedway historian Sören Kjaer, which gives a few mentions to Baltzer, for the speedwayplus website i guess? http://www.speedwayplus.com/pdf/SvendEngstrom.pdf
  6. Oh dear gustix despite being a journalist proves he cannot read plain english
  7. I actually think his nme is spelt Baltzer, rather than your version?
  8. Wal Morton!!! Just how many teams did he ride for? Wandering Wal of the Raceways!!! Some info on Wal http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=16517&page=2
  9. Not a relation of Sadiq, who was born and grew up near the stadium?
  10. Think you just have to look at someone like Peter Collins, maybe even Lee.You would have put money on it that they would once they got that first title have added to it......but they never did.I could speculate that Tommy would have gone on to be a multiple champ, but it is just that.Guess work
  11. Yes as i said before i missed his career.I might possibly have seen him before the Dons closed down, but by the time i came back to the sport he was on the way out anyway and i never saw him at that stage.By all accounts a great rider on his day,but lacked discipline or was it that he liked the booze too much? Not sure on that and don't want to attribute something to him that is wrong
  12. As mentioned i think Henka matches at least a few of those Individual world finals 4 6th,5th,4th,7th and then 8 GP series with an 8th,5th,5th and then a fall off with nothing better than 14th after that. But a 2nd in the world U21 championship as well as a 4th and a 2 time Swedish champ
  13. Narrows it down a bit,but the east of London is a strange place.Don't suppose you were also in the pub when Ronnie Kray killed George Cornell? If you weren't that does narrow it down even more
  14. Bruce qualified outright for the 1988 World Ice Speedway Final in Eindhoven. You can see him on the parade behind the England banner and around 15 minutes he finishes in 3rd place in one heat.Sure you can find more of him throughout https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7lotyYN9a0 http://www.speedway-yesterday.de/html/body_eisspeedway-einzel.html
  15. Missed Henka's career, but heard he was a really exciting rider.Tbh i wouldn't call myself a longtrack buff Sid.Only been to a few meetings and couldn't rate Anders in that scene, but on the speedway track he did have a few seasns where he was fantastic
  16. What about Henka Gustafsson then sid?Does he deserve a mention?Well he got one there anyway, oops!!
  17. Oh that has put the cat amongst the pigeons. We had quite a few 'Mr long haired herbert's it would be hard to find out which one you were as most at the time had long hair and flaires and lairy shirts.I give up
  18. What are the chances Laguta gets a wc?And then wins the meeting!!! Great result for Cook.Must be the best performance abroad by a Brit since the last great performance.......
  19. Shanes looks like he could become a power.Thought Harris would do a lot better at Longtrack tbh
  20. If i can help clear this up.The way i understand Jespers post is that the FIM were still including de Jong in the line-up although he was banned. So jesper using his noddle was guessing Tebbe would be riding instead and the FIM hadn't got their arris in gear. That is how i see the picture using a few brain cells.Jesper having previously posted on here that de Jong had failed a test and was banned helped.Someone who doesn't spend half his life on the internet might not have known that, but someone who spends half his life on the internet and still can't work it out is quite clearly.......gustix.I was going to put something else there, but it would only confuse the old boy
  21. Same goes for Per Jonsson with me.When i saw him he was never that good, only getting around 6 or 7 points in those meetings
  22. Good call with Olle Obviously two pick themselves in Ove and TRick.Knutson must be the best of the rest. Then i would say Michanek and Olle.Sadly Tommy would only be included on potential rather than achievements in his career. At the point he sadly died he looked like he might well go on to be a true great. We will never know and can only speculate. He will always be my all time favourite though
