Fim Longtrack 2017

Thanks for that.I was wondering just where Katt was...... on his way to a medal if that carries on!!! -
Guess it explains why speedway crowds have declined over the years. The few months break over the winter are the cause and fans have forgotten what speedway is and have found something else to do.........
-
I would agree.Football manages ok with a home game every two weeks. To say speedway needs to be every week is totally wrong and generally not accepting how modern speedway runs. You can also get a whole load of sporting events that don't run that often, but people still turn up in their droves.F1 or as you can see on tv at the moment Wimbledon tennis.Because it isn't on every week doesn't mean peple forget all about tennis ..........

Yes,i have to say when i watched the first video i was wondering if it was the end of a race(poor editing i thought) and they were riding back to the pits, until they just kept going.....That is just an observation and not a criticism by the way. -

But there is handicapping in speedway and not just in league speedway.Even in the GP's and all competitions of a lower level. There are quotas for each country. In the GP's they try to balance things out so that no country dominates things. If there already happens to be 3 or 4 riders from one country in then a fellow countryman no matter how good isn't likely to get a wildcard.Think that is what happened to Hans Andersen one year when despite being one of the best riders didn't get a wild card. Also happens in ice speedway where they put a limit of 8 Russians in the GP series and after a few Years of the top 8 being Russians they dropped the limit to 5.So no matter if the best 20 riders in the world are Russian, only 5 can make it into the GP series And the same goes for football where only a limited amount of teams from certain countries can enter the champions league or each continent has limits set on how many teams can reach the World Cup Finals, which means for Europe some strong teams don't make it,in favour of weaker teams from other continents. That is sport -

But is it a coincidence that when Secher was in charge after his first poor season he then had two wins and two second places before he packed the job in after an argument about Jepsen Jensen. Then Nielsen took over and they have two big failures!!!!!! Plus we heard year after year that Middlo was a great motivator and obviously should have some good day to day knowledge of how to set things up,but didn't really happen. And now we also have Rossiter who is much the same on the motivation front.I always have said we need someone who can get that extra bit out of each rider, just like our old 400m relay team always done far better as a team as they could as individuals. We need someone who can get that sort of display when we go out as a team -

But as i said on the night, nobody has the record at this years SWC that Hans has,yet the Danes were complaining about their set ups at the beginning of the meeting!!!! I agree it could be of some help to have an experienced rider in there. But like i said,Secher had a better record(if counted over the seasons in charge) with basically the same riders than Steachmann....... -

How necessary is it to have an experienced rider at the helm i wonder? Take Denmark for instance.Anders Secher managed to win 2 golds and 2 silver in his 5 years in charge.Which is the same as jan Steachmann managed over a longer period. And Hans Nielsen after two failures to even reach the final has now no chance of matching Sechers record in the 5 year period....... -

Update Maxxis 2017 UK Flat Track Championships Round Five July 7, Adrian Flux Arena, Kings Lynn Report by IAN OSBORNE Round five of the 2017 UK Flat Track Championships put on by the DTRA (Dirt Track Riders Association) saw the series continue in spectacular fashion at the Adrian Flux Arena in Kings Lynn. A well prepared and fast riding track, live online coverage and a warm sunny evening that led into floodlit finals provided the perfect setting for some top class flat track racing. The Pro class A-final saw Tom Neave get a flying start as he led Alan Birtwistle, Toby Hales, Aidan Collins and Sam Hurst through turn one. Neave was on top form and started to open a gap on his competition. He continued to ride with flawless precision to take the win. Behind, Birtwistle held his line to take second with Hales continuing to ride well as he beat Collins for the final spot on the podium. In the Restricted class it was Louis Breton who had the edge into turn one with Neil MacQueen, Jon Bell and Joe Banks hot on his heels. It remained tight at the front but MacQueen found his way through into the lead. He continued to ride well to take a well-earned win. The battle behind continued with James Andrew snagging second and Bell held on to third. The Vintage class saw some closely fought action as Gary Birtwistle, Frank Chatokhine and David Webb all hit the first turn together. It was Birtwistle who pulled ahead with Webb second and Chatokhine chasing hard in third. The battle of the top three continued all the way to the line with Birtwistle taking the win. Chatokhine got the edge on Webb in the final turn relegating him to third as they hit the line. Mike Hill continued his dominance in the ever-competitive Thunderbike class. Hill got a fast start, moved straight to the front and pulled away for another win in the series. Behind, Geoff Cain was in second with Ross Herrod third. A fast charging Jon Bell worked his way through taking both Herrod and Cain to take second. Herrod held strong for third. In the Rookie class Grant Martin instantly grabbed the holeshot as he led Lee Sadler and Martin Mills. Martin was on fire as he pulled away for a classy victory. The battle behind continued all the way to the line. Sadler held strong for second with Mills having to settle for third. The Youth Junior class saw Charlie Kelly back on fine form as he took the win with Wilbur Skip and Thomas Hunt taking second and third respectively. In the Youth Intermediate class Jack Bell rode a brilliant race to take the win ahead of his rival Ted Wilkinson. Luke Gardner rode well to round out the podium. Round six and seven of the Maxxis 2017 UK Flat Track Championships will place at Amman Valley Trotting Track on August 12-13. Ian Osborne -
