Russia really have had no end of problems over the years, going back to the days when Greg wanted to become a Latvian because of some dispute or other with the Russian federation. And i thought at the time they put in a protest about him getting the wirldcard for the Latvian GP.Hardly ever seem to be able to put out their best team and now it looks like that chances has gone for the time being.......

England obviously with a team of ex private schoolboys just won another trophy in football. Two in the last few weeks -
You gotta better view than me,so i take your figure Another great race there from Kai,but do they have to stop the race when someone goes inside the line?????Seems new to me.Thought they just exclude someone and keep the race going Wooo what a ride from AJ there in ht 20!!! last to first with inches to spare no-one is going home early at this meeting.German fans certainly have something to cheer about tonight.Looked good for the final for about two seconds then lost it!!!!

Sounds like you have had a run in with someone who holds a grudge? But surely putting your site back up on the web is actually honouring your work? Also gives credit to you,so i wonder why you think it is somehow shameful? All mysterious......

Wonder whether it is worthwhile to offer a night out at Wolverhampton speedway to any local objectors?Put on(probably) a mini bus and a free night out so that some of the locals who don't know the sport that well can see it for themselves.Cost a few hundred pounds but it might be money well invested?

Tai might not have attended a school in the UK,but I am guessing Jason Crump did? -
You will always get some residents complaining.I have mentioned on here before that a local sports club ran into problems when they laid down an all weather football surface so that local youngsters had somewhere to play all year round. Some complained at the noise and so the times people were allowed to play were restricted. Now these are probably the same people who would complain that kids are hanging around the streets... The important thing to take into account is that some people will complain about anything and weigh up that with the importance of the benefit to the community of a new sport/team in the area. The noise problem,we know are greatly reduced in modern speedway. That has to be an important issue as probably any complainers have no experience of the sport and will be going on cliches of dirty noisy motorbikes and riders

I am guessing the bit about contacting the webmaster is just what was there previously,so even if there was a link,it would be to the wrong person. Not the mysterious person who has resurrected the site?

Entirely different to trying to say as a nation we are not winners and putting the blame on what is anyway a falsehood on schools..... We could be a bit worried that a school teacher comes out with such stuff though and also the bit about Latvians and Russians being Slavic brothers.Schools can only be as good as the teachers that work there -

As I said before, the reason isn't that important, whether it be foreign coaches, private schools or money being thrown at sports, the fact is we are fairly successful as a nation.OK there could be improvements in some sports, but to come out and state as UK Martin did that we lack the mentality to succeed and think it OK to fail,so do more often than not is just nonsense. The facts speak for themselves. -

That is basically what i said.Contrary to what you said Germany aren't that great at sport over the past decade. We have overtaken them by a good bit at the Olympics. You should hear them crying on tv about how they are now pretty poor at one of their traditionally strong sports of swimming!!!And whilst they were far better than us at tennis in the Becker era their great attitude hasn't taken them further. In fact we are now neck and neck, maybe even better than them. They are now taking a keen interest in a few 'sports' where we do particularly well.At least far better than Germany.Darts and Rugby.....Not sure what the state of play is now,but it was only a few months ago they were alarmed that they only had one world boxing champ!!!! So basically looking at our sporting attitude,we do win an awful lot and have an attitude as good as most cuntries in the world. We might not be that good at speedway at this moment in time, but you are better concentrating on that than trying to bring in sport in general into the debate, because it just makes no sense in this case -

Here is one stat.Medals per capita and you can see we come out pretty damned good in the world http://www.medalspercapita.com/ plus we know success at boxing and football isn't just down to private schools.very little to do with private schools i would guess Finland with their one hour PE per day and Germany with their fear of losing come out far worse.Strange that -

So that must show Finland are much better at sport than we are?All i know is Finland are good at racing cars, but that doesn't have much to do with how often PE is on the school rota???Are you saying that they are better?Ok they are pretty good at Ice Hockey...... -

Not seen any stats to prove or disprove what you say and i certainly ain't going to look each medal winner up,but.... Although the likes of Froome and Hoy went to private schools other medal winners like Victoria Pendleton,Jason Kenny,Bradley Wiggins and Mo Farah, maybe Jessica Ennis? didn't.Another Joe Joyce the boxer went to a school just down the road from where i used to live and that certainly isn't private!!! -

You and UK Martin seem to being going a bitt ott.Ok i am used to seeing that sort of thing from UKM,but does it reflect the reality?Do we always need to know the UK at sprts etc?Is this just harking back to some old saying that might never have been true and i don't think is nowadays Forget speedway for a moment,if what you say is actually true and the problems start in schools then we would be as bad at every sport as we are at speedway unless speedway riders go to different schools to cyclists etc.The fact is we are pretty good at sports lately.Just look at how many medals we won at the last 2 Olympics as a guide. We actually won more medals in those two Olympics than we did in any previous Olympics going back 100 years-In fact we won double triple or quadruple the amount as in many Olympics from 1924 to 2008!!!! Just look at how great we have done in Cycling over the past decade or so and also look at Tennis just for a few examples.Football? We are currently Under 20 world champions and in the final of theEuropean Under 19's,so what was that you was saying about schools? -
Think it strange some are implying speedway fans are somewhat inferior to fans of other sports!!! For a start there are an awful lot of speedway fans who like and attend other sports.Plenty seem to like football and i even know/knew some speedway fans who were also cricket fans, horse racing fans and ice hockey fans.Ice hockey is about the only other sport off the top of my head that has a regular home game each week. But at least here when we had a team in the major league that game could be at the weekend or mid week or maybe have two home games a few days apart... I was also one of those people( back in the 90s ) who couldn't attend 'regularly' as i worked shifts and so had to miss meetings.I had a colleague on another shift who was also a speedway fan in the same position. The fact that we might have to go a week or two without seeing speedway didn't put us off though...Promoters or some have been saying for years that they are losing money and there are too many meetings. If they were making money you can bet tracks would be putting on more meetings than they are now.Looks like smething that people have to get used to,but i do agree tht going 4 or 5 weeks without a meeting is not the best way to plan a season. Then again my local track only has 3 meetings each year and people still find their way to the track ok.And we can see how many people find their way to Güstrow tomorrow despite them not having hosted a meeting for weeks.Oh ok speedway fans on the continent are different yet again.........

Good point.Cardiff is only once a year!!!.No wonder it never sells out.People just get out of the habit of going there and find something else to do...

Pretty much planned out as a game every two weeks for the vast majority of teams. You will get some teams who are in Europe and have more games, but they aren't that well planned as nobody can say how far in any given competition a team will go.So football fans can be sponataneous and turn up on a tuesday, wednesday or thursday, plus a lot of home games might well be on a sunday. So not really a regular night/day,which was one of the arguments earlier, that some clubs haven't raced much on their 'usual' night.....So it seems football fans can turn out on different days and not on a set basis why can't speedway fans?
