  1. And don't forget to visit the Tracks section,folks... http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/tracks.html We will shortly be running out of sections, but i am sure we can swap to just random pages........time is on our side
  2. I amazingly found this page about books by clicking on the headlined 'books' link. You can imagine my surprise at what i found http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/book-index.html The links page isn't much better,i am afraid......... http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/links.html If you look at the Displays pages, you will find a link to 2009 displays which gives a nice bit about bikes loaned by Malcolm Simmons, and also mentions the disputed piece about Simmo riding for Mildenhall in 2001 http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/2009%20displays%20continued.html
  3. I guess we are going to get a personal tour of the website with a link to every page?
  4. Opening times and ticket price http://www.torun-plaza.pl/pl/muzeum-sportu-zuzlowego.html
  5. So a revised look then Jimmy Squibb 30 (1946-1975) Neil Collins 29 (1978-2006) Les Collins 29(1975-2003) Ken McKinlay 28 (1948-1975) Malcolm Simmons 28 (1963-1989,1993) Nigel Boocock 26 (1955-1980) Alan Mogridge 26 (1981-2006) Must be some current riders looking to break into that table and probably one or two from the past who make it.Scott Nicholls i think started out in 1995,so would have done 23 seasons now, although did he miss a year and only rode in Poland(Sweden when he was in the GPs?Not sure
  6. Yes,i gathered Steve had included Olles Swedish seasons in that total, which is why i mentioned he would drop a year or two if Bobbath was only wanting British seasons included. As Steve mentioned it wasn't clearly stated in the OP
  7. So far it looks like Olle Nygren 32 (1948-1979) Matten Kröger 32 (1985-2016) Piotr Swist 32 (1985-2016)!!! Jimmy Squibb 30 (1946-1975) Greg Hancock 29 (1989-2017) Neil Collins 29 (1978-2006) Les Collins 29(1975-2003) Ken McKinlay 28 (1948-1975) Malcolm Simmons 28 (1963-1989,1993) Alan Mogridge 26 (1981-2006) That is of course as long as Swisty hasn't made a comeback after his Farewell meeting!!! One or two have done that in the past. Thought about Egon. Not so sure.Seen on wiki it states his first meeting was in 1964,but that wasTrials(swapped from Trials when he was 21,so probably makes it 1970) and his last meeting was in 1997,but again i think that was Longtrack.....can't be certain when his 1st and last speedway meetings were Obviously if Bobbath is only talking British Leagues then Kröger,Swist and Hancock drop out and Nygren loses a season or 2?
  8. So we have Squibb dropping 7 seasons,Greg losing at the very least 2,if we are counting league seasons as per the thread title, but Collins and Simmo(1993) gaining 1 each....
  9. Hope at least that info is right...
  10. No you are right Steve,i was just asuming he was refering to british leagues only.Tbh i have not noticed any interest of foreign leagues from him
  11. We seem to have a dispute about info on this website......did Simmons really ride in 2001 for Mildenhall.Someone on another thread thinks he didn't http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/malcolm%20simmons.html Now recieved a fairly confident reply stating this info is wrong, sadly
  12. But you do seem to have included some of Hancocks pre-league career, since i think he made his debut in 1989? Of course one of my favourites,Matten Kröger, who i have mentioned a few times rode from 1985 until last season for one team...Brokstedt and also had a brief spell with Somerset, just so we can include him Maybe you are right.Looked at Simmos wiki page and says he signed ,but that bit needs confirming Having said that,i looked at the highly rated website by one of our speedway journalist members which states he did ride.Could it be wrong? It was a time when i took no interest in the sport,so just going by what is stated http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/malcolm%20simmons.html
  13. Think they tried with letter bombs back in the 70s and failed miserably. If you live in wales you hold the same passport as someone in England or Scotland until things change, which doesn't seem realistic. You are comparing apples and kiwi fruit The fact is Wales did have a speedway team running at the same time Cardiff was on the GP schedule.....because that closed down we now only have Cardiff
  14. How did Squibb do 37 continuous seasons when the war interupted?.1939,1946-1975=30 seasons and as we are only counting post war from the OP then that is 29 seasons,if i haven't made a mistake!!!Just counted and i did,it is 30 seasons And you have of course omitted the 2001 season that i already mentioned Simmo rode in Hancock has also been falsely calculated as he hasn't ridden continously in our leagues per the OP!!! I make it 19 seasons.Might be wrong
  15. Wales isn't independent,is it?It is part of Britain and it was the British Final that acts as a qualifier for the Cardiff GP and it is riders from the British leagues riding on British passes or licences that enter the British Final.Maybe if the meeting was moved to Dublin then we can say it is held in an independent country.....
  16. Probably no-one.I thought it was just a google translate copied and pasted
  17. Of course. That is no surprise.Humphrey has been stating that for a decade or so,much to Phils chagrin Just waiting for f-s-p to make a bid
  18. Really not sure about these ideas to take the main title to countries like France or Argentina.Countries that don't have GP quality riders. Some years ago i thought ok if it helps promote the sport and make it bigger in those countries, but that just didn't happen in the likes of Croatia or Italy. It is obviously going there for the money.Lesser countries really should make do with U21 championship etc, which is easy enough fr European countries.I do admit the problem of getting Argentina into worldwide competitions is far more difficult
  19. Malcolm Simmons, whilst not making the top spot, must be up there.League debut in 1963 and last league rides in 2001 at the age of 57
  20. I'd imagine the track record was broken in the first meeting of 1950?If so what was the record at the end of that meeting/season? Reading about the re-opening it mentions one of the Promotion was a Billy Galloway!!!Is that the Billy Galloway the pioneer Australian, who must have stayed in the UK i guess?
  21. Seems i made a mistake and assumed it was at the stadium.Looking at further info it seems it is actually within a Shopping Centre, which would possibly attract more interest and promote the club/sport even more than just the converted who visit the stadium http://www.torun-plaza.pl/pl/
  22. Funnily enough seeing as gustix is such a fan of the website,i am very surprised he seems to have missed this page.... http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/mart%20seiffert%20comments.html
  23. Don't think anyone was confused by your mistake. But as you point out he was listed in one of your years as "Mart" and the next as "Mark",just as i pointed out..... According to the Ogden cards he is named as Mart rather than Mark, and took part in the very first meeting at High Beech. In one of the Wimbledon speedway history books he is named as Mark as well.I think someone has probably mis-read his name and it has been copied further. The plaque i have showed above, which has started the debate i imagine is correct having talked to the rider himself to elect him as President
