See talk of Austria entering a team in the Russian Super League!!!! -
Nope, nothing to do with this thread.
-
Just want to remind folks, not long to go now!!!
-
Nothing to do with this thread.Doubt the guy even visited the museum in Holland
-
I didn:'t think there would be enough space to fit American Motorcycle Museum,The Netherlands,in the title and because once someone looked at the thread it would become obvious I didn't think it mattered much.Obviously I made a mistake in forgetting about our Pence plonker.Have no fear when I eventually get round to getting home I will duly change the title so none of your stuff fits!!!
-
Saw a photo on fb.Looks fantastic!!Fingers crossed it is a great success
-
Yes,I wasn't sure, but something in my memory was saying he held a Polish licence and the reason was probably because he wasn't riding in GB
-
Yeah, but has nothing to do with this thread about a museum in Holland.Well only some mental midget from Pence, who takes nearly 24 hours to do an experiment to find some crap out, that has been proved to him a hundred times before!!!

Güstrow are spending money doing the stadium up.New roof took linger than expected.I doubt they want to spend the money hosting a GP -
Thanks for that.Sometimes difficult to sort through conflicting information. He seems to have been confused with Clem Beckett on a couple of sites. One site saying they thought he died in the Spanish Civil War.One seems to have the Clem Cort card with a bio about Beckett I was wondering how he managed to ride against LVP and then also take part in the Uruguay trip.Glad that is clear now
-
Also found this mis-spelt card

Exactly.Do people think club athletes or table tennis players live off earnings from their sport? These people might compete in leagues, but they are all low level leagues and not top professional ones and have to have a job to live from.Years ago riders in the second tier often had jobs to suplement their earnings. Now it seems riders in the third tier expect to be professionals living off earnings from the sport alone.Unrealistic!!!
-
Andy Smith is a possibility i think?1982-2007 equals Moggo,or did he miss a year or two?
-
Note the opening hours, because they will soon change over the winter http://www.ammh.nl/museum/opening-hours.php?pid=3

Looks a great museum with some fantastic old bikes that might well have been run on dirt tracks. And the best thing is,it is in Holland!!! Some of the bikes such as a 1914 and 1922 Harley and 1922 Indian Scout http://www.ammh.nl/museum/collectie.php?pid=52 And notice of a meet up next year

Clem Cort was one of those shooting stars that as far as i can tell started out mid way through the 1928 season and made enough of a mark to be included in the Ogden cigarette card collection. First appearance i can find is when he wonan Inter-Club race at Harringay on June 26th,had a few meetings before turning up at White City on 25th July and a month later was also riding at Wimbledon losing to the French star Charles Bellisent. But as pointed out on the back of the card he did win a couple of handicap meetings at both Wimbledon and White City and also the White City version of the News of the World belt At the end of the first season he was part of a group who travelled out to Zamalek,Egypt to race and it seems rip off the locals fixing races that in the country betting was allowed In 1929 i think he mainly raced in the Southern League for White City, although his name is also mentioned for the other two,Harringay and Wimbledon? He also rode for England against Wales at Cardiff and strangely i think the same year turned out for Australia alongside Vic Huxley,Max Grosskreutz and Hilary Buchanan at Preston against a Lancashire select During the winter it seems he had travelled to Australia and was riding at the Exhibition Stadium where it is reported in january 1930 he was beaten in a best of 3 match race by R.West Coming back for the 1930 season it seems he made what was to be a fatal change to Belle Vue.This year he also again turned out for England at Halifax against Australia Over the winter i have found a report he was back in Melbourne. It was announced in December 1930 that both Clem and Lionel davey had arrived from England in January 1931 it was announced Lionel van Praag will meet Clem Cort, the famous dirt track racer.Sadly not long after he travelled to Uruguay with some of the Belle Vue team on what turned out to be a disasterous tour both financially and fatally for Cort, who was travelling in a sidecar with Bob Harrison and Oliver Langton when they collided with an on coming car with no headlights and Cort was killed.A benefit meeting had to be held to pay for his burial and it mentions his wifes journey back to Australia!!! So maybe he had married an Australian woman(he met on a previous visit)? Any more info would be greatly appreciated Interesting report on the Zamalek trip http://www.guskuhn.net/GKuhn/Zamalek.htm And the Wimbledon version of the belt Clem Cort won at White City and seems the Wimbledon meeting was never held for him to attempt to win

I thought it brought back memories......found another thread with the same title. And no,not the other one started at the same time as this http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=39940&hl=longest

Interesting that the first link makes no mention of this 2001 season with Mildenhall.
-
No probably about it.And i have checked......Jim Tebby also misses out Checked a few that came to mind.Leigh Lanham had what seemed a fairly long career, but doesn't make it from what i found. Rob Hollingworth was another that had a career spanning 4 decades, but he missed a few years as far as i can tell, although still going in amateur speedway Kevin Teager was another i checked.Still going on grasstrack, but seemed to have stpped league racing in the UK quite a while ago now Mark Burrows is another who's career spanned a long time, but looking at records he missed quite a number of seasons during that time!!! Ermolenko is one foeign rider who came to mind, but because he still until recently had a ride or two i didn't realise it was so long ago he retired from the league

Have to say the recent Rallycross round near Hamburg, did this year get some space in the newspaper, which i hadn't noticed in previous years. Before it just got one of those little blocks at the side, the same as speedway manages. Also a photo of Monster girl 'Vicki',who i think is the Danish woman who is also at the GPs -
Someone has pm'd me asking if there are any biographical data,to which i am happy to put up details, with a warning that the data might not be 100% correct http://www.national-speedway-museum.co.uk/riders%20profiles.html

2018 Grand Prix Venues

There has to be a balance between being realistic and being a dreamer.I guess BSI want someone in the job who wants to push the boundaries, rather than just concentrate on the core countries. Most of the time they are unrealistic dreams over a sustained period,as you say.As we saw in Copenhagen after a few good years the crowds plummeted. The FIM put their hopes of a Champions League into a the hands of people who gave them hope of a big competition in the Desert(funny Phil mention this area in one of his posts)and so far we have seen nothing.A last minute abandoned attempt to host in Germany last year and the failed promise(?) of Dubai or wherever this But i guess you won't get the job if yu just go in and say we are going to host at tracks,Cities, towns that already host speedway -
Not enough to make it into the table.Think Reg did 24 years,Ken quite a few less
-
I remember we were so poor we couldn't afford our own pigeons ,so we ate the neighbours pigeons.....and their rabbit
-
I think Woryna is a little different.Think tradition plays a part in his thinking and he follows his grandfather, that is why i think signing for Poole is very important to him and the Rybnik club also
