Could be true, could be rubbish Just take a look at say Barry Briggs. He won back to back titles then in the next 5 seasons got 1 silver and two bronze.Tai's record is very much similar to Briggo in a short period. We don't know how it will pan out in the future though.Maybe like Briggo or Greg he just has to wait w hile before he wins another title or two? Peter Craven is an even more extreme example between his wins

As one or two have pointed out, this is really trying to re-write history. As i am sure you know it was a national team event at first but they had to change it.Probably for the reason you have been pointing out for years....that BSI were trumped and wanted to also have a pairs comp, but were too slow off the mark. What is strange is having seen how the One Sport version has followed the attern of previous pairs competitions, they still want to push ahead with the project!!!!

I think one forumite rates a rider who never won a world title and threatened to kill a fellow rider on track over Tai.And as far as I can tell that is because Tai has tattoos!!!!! Strange world, strange petson

I wonder how much last nights boxing cost?On German tv they were saying although not as many as at Wembley there was an amazing atmosphere both in and outside Cardiff and that most had travelled from England!!! I was quite amazed really at the hype surrounding Joshua at this stage of his career.90,000 and now 80,000.But boxing is usually veeerrryyyy expensive!!!! Then to rub it into the locals Michael Buffer announced Joshua as "The Pride of England"!!!!

Regardless of whether he is deserving or not or a mediocre or great champ, what is the reaction in Australia to having a world champ crowned in their country? How has the media reported the meeting and Doyle being crowned at home? Will it be a boost for the sport in Oz or make no difference really, rather like Hancock made no real impression in the States. But having a champ crowned in Oz must have made a headline or two in one paper or website????

Great work Interesting for me to see the foreign riders who gave years of dedication to the leagues.Commonwealth riders to the fore, but riders like Karlsson,Ermolenko,Richard Hellsen(somewhat a surprise),Stekkers and although not in the list Olle Nygren all great servants to the sport in the country

For i think one season i used to get into Plough Lane for nothing. My Grandad worked at the stadium for a couple of decades for the St.John's and so knew the staff there,at least the security guy on the gate of the Grandstand and later when he was in a wheelchair we went to the speedway and the guy just opened the gate and through we went. Not sure how widespread such things were though and it was possibly nothing that the speedway promotion knew about Then again, seeing as one of my family used to be mechanic to Ronnie Moore and then became speedway machine examiner,i was told as a teenager to go to the pits gate and ask for him and i would get in for nowt........

I also thought Parker rode in the 50th,but didn't take much interest and 1968 was really before my time,so thought that might have been more a 'proper' race

Well oficially Ron Johnson was born in Scotland, which at the time(still is so far) was in the UK

Don't forget who was the first person to remind people of this point

Seen a programme about sport in East Germany and particularly football and I think it was a European clash between Dresden and Bayern Munich, the stadium was full of Stasi and Communist party members.A normal citizen couldn't get near the stadium for fear they might meet someone from the 'enemy'. Poland was maybe not so bad

I've got a collection from some ice racing tracks in jars, but they've all melted!!! Has he only got shale samples? No cinders!!!

Paul Hurry another whose career spans a fair time, started in 1991,but has had a lengthy period away due to injury etc,but is still going Quite possible with the suggested Jon Armstrong, but not found any stats David Mason made his debut for Eastbourne 'Eaglets'(probably junior racing though?) in 1993 so maybe proper debut in 1994,but no idea if he has been an ever present in a league since then..seems he didn't stay long anywhere though!!!

Yes,i saw the rankings on the South Africa thread and wondered if Ukraine was so dangerous, because one part was a war zone, whilst the rest was relatively normal -
Not wanting to say that is nonsense, but of course it really is.You just have to look at some of the poor countries around the world run by dictators and there are people filling their pockets and bank balances up.Poland is in no way to be compared with such countries,so you can be sure there were always people with full bank accounts due to the massive corruption in the country. The country has major natural resources and that means someone gets rich.....But part of the reason is also that Poland couldn't really compete internationally with western countries at football and to do so costs much more money than directing it towards a fairly small sport like speedway.... Corruption in Poland has declined over time in the recent years. In international rankings it is below the world average but not insignificant. Within Poland, surveys of Polish citizens reveal that it is perceived to be a major problem. In the communist People's Republic of Poland, corruption was widespread, particularly by Polish United Workers Party officials (see nomenklatura).[15][16][17] Corruption under the communist regime was so pervasive that some scholars have referred to the system as "legalized corruption"

I vageuly remember reading about one football club that couldn't play in their home stadium and had to play home games in another city Yes,this report on Donetsk, who do play in the relative safety of Rivne http://mashable.com/2015/04/10/displaced-ukraine-football-club-shakhtar-donetsk/#JewTh3.2asql and the story of another club that had to do the same https://sports.vice.com/en_uk/article/pgnk3v/a-club-divided-a-club-united-zorya-luhansk-on-footballs-front-line -
It is the problem with a GP on the other side of the world. In fact it is the problem with any international meeting.Argentina or elsewhere. Not many people will be willing to ride at the last minute when they have little or no chance,so you end up with riders who are already there. The same has happened often enough in Russia for instance for world or european competitions.I even remember someone who didn't bother to appear for a run-off to the next round of a competition as he knew it would be tooooo far to be worth it.

Taken a look on WWOS and it seems Andy missed the 1 season in 2002,if of course they have mot made a mistake.So 25 seasons.Not too bad and still equal with Moggo if Robs info is correct 1982..Belle Vue..4..10..8..3..4.40 1983..Belle Vue..50..149..137..30..4.48 1984..Belle Vue..50..187..302..37..7.25..2F..1P 1985..Belle Vue..38..156..267..29..7.59..4F 1986..Belle Vue..16..61..84..9..6.10 1987..Belle Vue..35..136..194..22..6.35..1F..1P 1988..Belle Vue..41..171..257..35..6.83..1F..1P 1989..Bradford..36..169..275..32..7.27..2P 1990..Bradford..27..117..191..34..7.69..3P 1991..Swindon..7..32..53..9..7.75 1992..Coventry..15..72..129.5..8..7.64 1993..Coventry..36..187..309..40..7.47..2F 1994..Coventry..22..103..151..15..6.45 1995..Coventry..38..182..276..28..6.68 1996..Bradford..43..217..371..50..7.76..2P 1997..Coventry..38..189..239..37..5.84 1998..Belle Vue..15..74..88..15..5.57 1998..Swindon..16..88..137..29..7.55..1P 1999..Belle Vue..27..127..227.5..35..8.27..3P 2000..Belle Vue..30..147..202..26..6.20 2001..Belle Vue..25..106..142..12..5.81 2002.....????????????? 2003..Oxford..21..92..132..16..6.43..1F 2004..Swindon..39..174..208..44..5.79 2005..Belle Vue..45..202..263..58..6.36 2006..Reading..27..108..120..29..5.52 2007..Reading..6..28..22..2..3.43 2007..Oxford..10..42..34..8..4.00 So an updated list Jimmy Squibb 30 (1946-1975) Neil Collins 29 (1978-2006) Les Collins 29(1975-2003) Ken McKinlay 28 (1948-1975) Malcolm Simmons 27 (1963-1987,1989,1993) Nigel Boocock 26 (1955-1980) Alan Mogridge 25 (1981-1997,1999-2006) Andy Smith 25 (1982-2001,2003-2007) As far as i can tell both Scott Nicholls and Stuart Robson are just outside the list,but still going and next year would be the 25 season for both,as it seems Stuart missed a year(because of injury?)
