So you are peddling 'fake news' yourself??? Whatever. It might be more realistic, but once you start who knows where it will end, just to get a competitive team or to get a certain rider in?Who would we stick Pavlic in with if he was still going strong?Zagar I guess, from another country.Who would we stick some Ukranian in with?Or if there was a decent New Zealander?Or an Argentinian who hit the international scene?A US rider makes more sense than anyone else........ You have the advantage over me,not having seen what he has said, but it must be a 3 rider team because of the chance of injury and then only having 1 rider left, which further shws the divide between top and also ran countries.Poland and Denmark,Sweden,Russia will have some strength in depth whereas those teams that struggled to put a SWC squad together will also struggle to put 3 decent riders in this competition
-
It came from your post about Vaculik lining up alongside Milik. If that can happen, then anything is open and we know Armando has a liking for Argentina.Ok I guess if any are that good he will get them in the Italian pair though
-
No doubt Denmark or Sweden or maybe even Germany might want to host some sort of quali round where their team is more than likely going to get through if half the teams do and they are up against Finland,Italy,Hungary, who will obviously be far more competitive than they would be in the SWC Trouble is when you get a quali in Russia and half the teams don't turn up and so you have Russia 1,Russia 2 and Russia 3 alongside some made up Crovakia team and some Argentinian geezer alongside Greg to make an Americas team. After a few years surely Finland and Hungary will get fed up not qualifying and travelling long distances for the honour, just like they have with the SWC...... And to add to it,we the fans will have been well and truly p'd off by it all
-
I know they are only examples, but it shows the weakness of the argument. Dudek and Zmarzlik, yes they do look a good pair, but Holder could well carry on being off the boil.We don't know if Woffy will represent GB,so could be a weak pair,Antonio could be off the boil,so who knows,Laguta and Emil,ok i'll give you that. Then we really get some made up pairing of Milik and Vaculik or throw in Zagar all from different countries!!!! Will we get Hancock thrown in with someone from Europe? And then you see how poxy the idea becomes. It won't be strong enough,so do we get a Poland 'B' and 'C' and...........
-
Nope. Not for me.SWC was as others have said one of the highlights of the season. And although it is likely Poland would win for the next few years,it was only a while ago Sweden shocked us all and won against the odds You don't bugger around with one of the few things that works in speedway

Ice Speedway Meetings 2017/2018
iris123 replied to Hawk127's topic in International World of Speedway
We have snow expected everywhere in the next few days, even in the low areas. In the mountains we have had snow for a few weeks, but it is expected to be good for winter sports at the weekend Just seen that Tobi Busch is off to Russia,so he must have a 'safe' destination to train or he is going to be driving all that way for nothing -
But it did get a bit out of hand. At Wimbledon we'd have the early spring tournament qualifying against local teams like Reading and Ipswich etc, then you'd have world quali and southern rider quali and then 4tt and of course ko cup and a test match plus 3 or 4 individual meetings and then the league......

Have seen pics and videos of riders training in Kamensk in the past few days,so it is happening.Eduard Krysov for instance Also saw a photo of Jouni Seppänens garden a few weeks ago and there was plenty of snow there -
Can't say what it is like in the UK now,but over the last 5 years stats in Bundesliga football has boomed.Television analysis, newspaper reports and videotext are full of who made the most tackles, failed passes, shots on goal, ran the longest distance, the fastest, the most possession etc etc etc
-
Exactly.Come in with big money and want to shake the sport up.Start another league maybe and obviously his team and one or two others in Poland and a few others in neighbouring countries. Is this going to go down well or is he going to come up against a brick wall as often in speedway?????Are Polish speedway fans even interested in another league?Has he totally miss-judged a sport he has only had a passing interest before? He has enough money to lose at least
-
What I read was they wanted to carry on with the test matches they held this year.Think there were a number home and away against young Sweden Found two tests at Slangerup and Vojens v Sweden end of September/start of October
-
Interesting.......wonder what this Diamond League is about???? Someone else who comes in with a lot of noise and is gone in a few years time,i wonder?
-
Think is true that most fans aren't interested in much other than their teams meetings.I made a few mistakes when I got back into speedway worrying about the size of the crowd,so got to a meeting early only to find it was one man and a dog there. Denmark v Sweden @U21 in both Denmark and Sweden or a World U21 final etc.At the Danish test meeting it seemed like I was the only fan there and all the rest were family members!!!
-
Think after a Millwall game a lot of people ended up with a souvenir brick or two!!!
-
Hans Nielsen is looking at getting some early tests in for the young Danes,so maybe, hopefully one or two against a young Lions would be on the cards??A quick 5 test tour
-
Personally disagree. He had obviously lost his desire,so was far better to get out fit and healthy and move on,rather than go through the motions, drop out of the top riders category and maybe even risk a bad crash Maybe you would think that the desire might come back after a break, like maybe say,Ronnie Moore. But this never happened,so I think even Bjorn thought it was the best decision
-
So it came too late for PC even ignoring his tragic death
-
He could have done very well on the polish tracks,as he was very successful when he toured there with belle Vue.Not sure how many times the world final was held in Poland before 1968.But he was fairly poor when the final went to Sweden,so maybe he won as many as he was going to win
-
Obviously right.Think the idea from the 3(Hans,Erik and Henrik Möller) was to trim down the squad, rather than include too many.Lasse I can't ever see coming into contention for a senior team spot just like there isn't much point including Klindt,Rasmus Jensen or others of that ilk.Clear the mediocre riders out of the way and hope that one or two of those juniors do make it through, and double quick really before they lose Iversen and Bjerre to those over the hill.Bjerre probably Is anyway
-
See the big news today that Hans Andersen and Leon Madsen have been dropped from the Danish senior squad and Nicki Pedersen has voluntarily stepped down to allow the youngsters a chance. Not surprised with Hans and although I am a bit surprised with Madsen,i have mentioned a number of times that he doesn't seem to be liked and always seems to have had a cloud hanging over him since his apparent attempt to cheat some years back under the Stekkers regime Another surprise seems to be the omission of Patrick Hansen, who one or two on here hailed as one for the future, from the junior squad!!! Surely a mistake or oversight?Or is he now too old? Also wonder how on earth Martin S.Hansen still manages to stay in a talent squad. He must be too old and been around too long for the Danes to bother sticking with him The main thing though is,will this help bring them back to the top? Not in the next year or two at the very least imo Danish junior squad 2018: Frederik Jakobsen, Tim Sørensen, Kasper Andersen, Mads Hansen, Jason Jørgensen. Talent squad 2018: Jonas Jensen, Christian Thaysen And Ulrich Stærk, Jonas Seifert, Mikkel B. Andersen, Sam Jensen, Matias Nielsen, Martin S. Hansen, Emil Pørtner, Sebastian Mortensen, Morten Piepenbrinch, Jannik B. Sørensen, Kenneth Jürgensen, Marius Nielsen, Jacob Højmark, Nick Agertoft, Emil Breum, Benjamin Basso, Frederik Kristiansen, Magnus Kiel Jensen. Danish senior squad 2018: Niels Kristian Iversen, Kenneth Bjerre, Peter Kildemand, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Mikkel Bech, Mikkel Michelsen, Anders Thomsen

Just do us a favour and bugger off once and for all.
-
One problem is there have generally always been more clubs who had a negative season than ones who have had a positive one,so the negs rule!!They will always tend to have the upper hand by saying if you don't help us we drop down or out......and despite everything we always end up with good and bad teams
-
But isn't that how the sport has worked since as far back as I can remember?Punish the best teams so they have to lose riders with the idea you start the season roughly level. An idea which has never worked. No idea why the continue with an idea that has proved to be detrimental.Upsets fans who want to see a team develop, upsets riders as well.

Ice Speedway Meetings 2017/2018
iris123 replied to Hawk127's topic in International World of Speedway
Weissenbach in Austria are hoping to run a meeting on 06.01.2018 weather permitting -
They also have squads,so hopefully clashes will be kept to a minimum with riders signed on the basis they miss few meetings
