  1. Also here 1990 http://www.historyspeedway.nstrefa.pl/mpaustrii.php
  2. Same here Steve.Grandad was in the St.Johns working at the stadium and my mums uncle was mechanic for Ronnie and then machine examiner there. One of the family even lived in the flats overlooking the stadium.Great memories for a lot of my family there. So much excitement just going to the track in the old days and a few scares going down the alley back to Colliers Wood after the meeting Sad that there is no longer room and support for a speedway team in London any more
  3. To me it looks a poor line-up for that price, but you could still get a great meeting....
  4. I guess it is,but wouldn't it be a really good thing if these companies paid their taxes,as well as paying a couple of speedway riders.Ok,the guy is now brown bread, but the german founder of the company was a billionaire, but payed the same amount of tax as one of the plasterers or carpenters that used his shop.In fact i'd guess AJ probably paid more tax than he did
  5. Oh ok.Maybe you can understand my confusion then as we were and particularly the post you quoted was most definitely One could almost speculate from your post that there is very little extra sponsorship for this series,it is just a sponsor who is sponsoring these riders anyway....
  6. Guess it all depends on what currency that 100k is in But can you honestly see Thorsell or even Jonsson, who is over the hill getting that sort of money in pounds sterling when it has been estimated that the /th/8th best earner(Zmarzlik-Kolodziej) in the Polish league is on about 300k for a season? Some middleweight is getting 30% of that for 3 meetings that are nowhere near as important as Ekstraliga.....who has been doing the speculating is my next question
  7. He always was a bit of an old woman though Gem
  8. Always a question mark against those. The British league has never had better coverage on tv than in the last decade, but what has it dome? The state of British speedway has continually dropped over that same period. As for sponsorship, there is also a question mark as to what extent that helps, and to what amount is pumped into the sport.I kind of have the feeling that this sponsorship is on the level that McDonalds sponsored Tobi Kroner or Robert Barth....i.e if you asked at McDonalds HQ about the sponsorship nobody would have a Scooby doo what you were talking about
  9. Let’s hope it isn’t long before Adonis gets owned like speedibee did on the Coventry thread!!No wonder he went off into hiding.Adonis seems to have the same twatty views,so I don’t think it will be long lol
  10. Nadine and Julia Frenk were two sisters on Longtrack/grass https://sites.google.com/site/racingteamfrenk/ The Grosser twins were highly rated by Egon Müller, but never really got on once they moved up on 500cc bikes. They did a season of practice sessions, but don't think they ever raced in proper meetings once they left 250cc events https://www.shz.de/lokales/landeszeitung/schnelle-zwillinge-aus-krummwisch-id9403731.html
  11. Sabrina Bogh was probably the best female rider of the modern era.She was Danish Junior Champion and made it through to the European Junior Final https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_Individual_Speedway_Junior_European_Championship I have seen a few females in Danish teams at a few levels.80cc and 500cc.In fact there was a team a few years back that was made up largely of females in Denmark. One of these did sign a contract with a Polish league team, but that as you moot was a publicity stunt As for German female riders Celina Liebmann, the daughter of a former German ice speedway rider has followed on from Sabrina Bogh and became the first female to win a national title two seasons back.Had a nasty accident last season, but she is back this year and will hopefully make some more progress
  12. Of course, the competition has been snookered by BSI and the FIM now. When it was an international team tournament it was interesting, but obviously got up BSI's nose.Since turning into some strange firms event it has lost a lot of interest and I expect now BSI have moved into the pairs territory there is even less point in the thing. Some speedway fans on the fringe will still lap up anything though
  13. I have one just down the road. Will have to go down any buy something as a 'thank you'
  14. Actually a German diy company with a somewhat iffy reputation for workers rights.Guess there is a reason they are 'Swiss based'
  15. Think lots. There was some guy who used to advertise them in the Star.Wally Noaks was possibly his name from memory.Strange idea and never bought one,but sure I heard one being played at a collectors fair or something
  16. The times are a changing...well they have changed a while ago if we are talking about speedway. There will be a place for leisure,it is very important. How many gyms/fitness clubs have opened up in the last decade?Trouble is,there won't be much of a place for an environmentally unfriendly sport in cities and towns that occurs weekly or even fortnightly.Face facts,we are seeing a change in cars and their use coming pretty soon.It will be extreeeeemly hard to defend noisy, dirty motorbikes racing around for a couple of hours every week and especially if they are sharing a stadium with dirty noisy stock cars as welll
  17. A very short report from Berlins RBB,after the ice hockey and table tennis http://mediathek.rbb-online.de/tv/rbb-AKTUELL/Sport-bei-rbb-AKTUELL/rbb-Fernsehen/Video?bcastId=3907840&documentId=50569968
  18. As I say,i am just glad this is one area speedway has kept pretty clear of It does seem in the modern era sportspeople think it their right to be in these major competitions and so if they fail to get into their national team, will just swap to some other country.Or you get countries who haven't got the talent and so as a quick fix instead of investing in building a talent pool just 'buy' someone elses.I watched a programme about Turkey and one of the dodgy Asian countries, maybe Kazakhstan that were offering good money to African athletes to compete for them.In typical style a lot of the carrots dangled before them never appeared. There was the Russian football team filling up with Brazilian players or the I think Qatar handball team full of ex-Yugoslav country players Just imagine if Italy started to offer big money to Polish or Danish speedway riders,or riders from the major countries started turning out for Finland because they didn't get picked for their country? As it is,i still don't see what this new system has done to improve the lot of the lesser countries. You can pretty well pick who isn't going to make it through to the final and with GB,Germany and Poland you have 3 countries who pretty much held a SWC meeting annually.........
  19. And as I mentioned before there was a german woman representing South Korea, because she couldn't get into the German team
  20. Actually I thought speedway was a bit crazy on some points, but it seems so far have been quite reasonable. It came to my attention during the winter Olympics that some other sports are pretty slack with their rules. The German Ice Dance pair that won gold have appeared in world chmpionships as Germany, but the guy(French) didn't have a german passport. He only just received one a short while before the Olympics as they have stricter rules than the world championships....... And in handball there is one guy who has played at international level for 4 different countries.Ok,you have to allow him 2 as his first country(Yugoslavia) doesn't exist any more
  21. Ok,i thought maybe you was suggesting Finland had a great chance if they rode in Germany?!?
  22. Personally don't think it is that interesting. He is part of a squad and not even that good any more.......
  23. Just to humour you,as it seems nobody is really bothered, but why it this worth a remark?
  24. We will have to wait and see what happens when Bayern play on a Monday, but there is a general across the board feeling of being pee'd off with tv(Sky)wanting so many days and so many different kick off times as well.It seems the fans are organising themselves and are to an extent being taken serious by the Bundesliga. The fans argument is that football use them, their noise, their colour and their numbers to gain sponsors and tv deals, but are exploiting their support. The first Monday game two weeks ago the fans of both clubs made a pact to go silent through the game making sure there was no atmosphere. The Dortmund fan clubs elected to boycott the game.I am sure the protests will go on.But for how long and with what result is up in the air.The Bundesliga are saying the deal is signed for the next two seasons or so and there is nothing they can do.The situation is probably made worse now that a day or so ago the Champions League announced they will also have two different kick off times
