F.I.M. Oceania Final 2022 December 28
iris123 replied to Bavarian's topic in International World of Speedway
What is the point of this meeting ? Is it a qualifier for anything, with its FIM title ? Or just another meeting. Not a great line up, especially without the two British riders -
I was in the Woodcraft Folk, which was a kind of 'woke' version of the Scouts i guess, probably run by communists and tree huggers We had a big camp on the Isle of Wight with kids from East Germany

Just going with this....i found a pic of motorcycle chariot racing from 1936(presumably a novelty attraction at one of the 2 speedway meetings held that year), and then stumbled across this

Just popped up on my timeline. Never seen it before. The subway under Crystal Palace Parade. Being restored

Seem to remember that the athletics stadium was roughly built n the site of the speedway track

I went there many times as a kid. Was always fascinated by the dinosaurs and the gorilla statue. Plus i used to like the small zoo they had there Then as an adult i went a few times to the athletics. Plus once at least i remember they had a Drag car or maybe Custom / Drag car show at the inside arena (swimming baths ?) Saw one of the first skateboard events there, plus an Emmylou Harris gig and i think i saw John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy etc in a blues show, both in the concert bowl

Looks like the Saturday is just an International meeting with European riders, rather than 'the European Championship' ?

Already have one track due to close because of environmental issues. Leipzig, which is situated in a forest. Used to think that sort of track was fairly safe away from peoples homes. But the local council say the nuisance a motorsport event causes to the habitat is not acceptable. I could well think that Sweden, which i think has some similar stadia could also have problems in the future

From what I heard Chris is having trouble finding the right set up

For a lot of speedway fans though this all sounds like it is from the WEF woke handbook. They can only be more horrified if Chris Harris turns up for pre season press meeting in a frock and wanting to be called Christine

It could well in the Uk, also open up new urban stadia t the sport. Whatever we might think, noisy motorsports are under threat. Stock cars included. And Greyhounds are also looking more and more like they are on the way out

Think it is better to have electric speedway, than no speedway at all Quite honestly, as long as the racing is close i couldn't care less what is powering the bikes

Interesting filler in the close season. Unfortunatelly in this case, it was a double meeting, alongside MotoX Jumps, like those Night of the Jumps spectacles. And speedway in a lot of people, including Smolinski came out second best. The jumps were accompanied by good lighting, fireworks and a young commentator. Whereas speedway was drawn out due to all the falls and exclusions and the old commentator from nearby Brokstedt was heavily criticised, and gave up not long after . The young jumps guy, was i am sure at least used at Güstrow speedway for one or two big meetings afterwards -

No it was the Kiel indoor meeting on concrete. Quite a dangerous track. Lots of falls and a few injuries, so i as a fan could understand the rider taking it easy. It might have been Steve Worrall, but would need to look at my programme -

I remember seeing a race when the last rider left was excluded for not, in the eyes of the ref , putting in enough effort to race
