  1. Saw him win the Youth World Championship back in 2013 on his own track.Looks a good prospect and having a speedway rider as a father doesn't ensure success, but does help knowing what is needed to succeed and give a decent base to start from
  2. And what did I say in the Speedway of Nations thread?I’ll tell ya what I said to those saying team riding is dangerous,I said riders are constantly making dangerous moves that they know could end up in a crash or worse, injury. But they still do it....,
  3. It was and still is the case that there are good and bad teams. There were always teams you looked at to see when they were at your place and thought ‘ok,I can go on holiday then and not miss much’ and there were teams you or I did not want to miss and would also go and see them if they were at another track, like Hackney that was nearby All this leveling off with points or averages never stopped a couple of teams being poor, but did mean your team might have to dumb down
  4. I don’t disagree and that was my thought about Belle Vue as well. Was it the honeymoon period over?
  5. Looks like you fit the bill stalking me again.Defending someone naming an accused without trial I guess? Has to be said
  6. The bigger picture isn’t about what you go to see ,it is about what the majority go to see.Thought it was stated as fact that when Rye moved up the crowds were far bigger than anyone had seen there for donkeys years?Same as it has been stated that when Swindon went down they had poor crowds like nobody had ever seen since. That tells a story of its own!!! As someone came up with the brilliant opinion that it doesn’t matter where your team finishes why bother with a pints limit and let teams have carte blanche to field the team they can afford? If Rye can only afford rubbish, then let them put a poor team out.But then nobody should complain or block another team having a couple of star riders. The trouble we have is because some can’t field a decent team everyone has to get dragged down to that level
  7. Another one that springs to mind was the Sky team constantly talking about Emil riding a supposedly dodgy bike and I even heard it first hand from one Danish rider that Emil ‘was cheating’,but did anyone ever put it to the test ?
  8. Strange that it is Rob Mc who on one thread was asking if someone could pm him the name and has now on here named the person a couple of times now he has found out who it is.Surely his posts should be deleted and he sits out a ban for putting that on this forum? just saying
  9. Reasonable answer. So they could run training schools through to the end and keep some form of speedway running there even if they pull out of the league? That would be my hope and then see how the finances are for next season
  10. Can’t understand what you are on about at all.Bit of a jumble that
  11. Why would it?They have,as i said already announced a training school for Saturday!! If they have to drop out training school can still continue obviously until they can get their act together and join a league ata level they can survive What happens when a promoter says we can’t put together a good enough team to pull in the punters with this team strength. We need to be able to sign riders over the points limit or we might fold, etc
  12. What seems strange in all this though is that it was announced yesterday that the would be holding a training school on Saturday! How does that fit in to all this?
  13. What matters in a sport is rules/guidelines are talked about an agreed to and subsequently stuck to.What should happen is if you don’t like the rules agreed to then you drop out and join a lower league. What should happen is that every club ensures that they have enough finances to pay their riders etc for a whole season. This happens in German football for instance where you have to give assurances and show a financial package or you get relegated. What happens all too often in speedway is rules are agreed to then special dispensation is given so a rule can be broken by someone. And then people wonder why the sport is in such a poor state and not taken seriously. You are basically saying bugger those who have stuck to the agreement and have sorted a team accordingly,we want to do our own thing.Does it matter? Of course it bloody does or why bother with a league and why bother having agreements?
  14. The trouble is,reverting to Saturday’s might give the opposition teams a headache as some of their riders have commitments elsewhere.Things were agreed at an AGM,so surely you need to agreement of all participants in the league for this sort of change?
  15. I said a while back that trying to make all tracks fit into a league model doesn’t work.Maybe have one,2 or 3 tracks running an open licence outside of the league system would help save them.... What we have is dead weight tied around the leg of some tracks and we are always pandering to the weak teams. It hasn’t worked.Like you i have seen some terrible league meetings on tv where riders can hardly get round the track and terrible crowds with no atmosphere. That just isn’t going to help the sport,no matter what night of the week you run.And one big problem we now face that we didn’t before is that football now takes place practically every day,so no way of avoiding the clash
  16. You know, that is exactly what I was thinking!!!
  17. Tbh Hernry I thought it was around 2007/08,so you have a better memory than me!!
  18. I agree. Not enough to list riders around Europe, they have to be known to have the desire to ride.Plus each of those 19 teams need riders of a decent strength in reserve in case they want to make a change or two throughout the season.Plus they have to be riders of a quality that enough fans will be ready to pay to watch.Plus I thought the plan was to then run on any day that the club thought was best for them,so putting them up against foreign competition, which will automatically narrow choice further.Pie in the sky stuff
  19. Found this, but was obviously another thread which is mentioned http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/55115-leon-madsen/&tab=comments#comment-1745612
  20. Was it only 2011!!Had the feeling it was a good few years before that, but thought it was a Danish meeting and that Hougaard was one of those involved in complaining
  21. Can’t remember the full story, but that is the way it often seems to go in speedway.Someone is slyly accused of something without anything official being done.I think Stekkers also talked about ‘polish speed’ in one SWC and I think said he knew what goes on as he rode in Poland and of course I think Olsen was also backing him up.But no official complaint was put in.We also had Holder and Ward making snide remarks about Smolis bikes on the GPs It was also strange to me how the story came out on one or two Danish sites and I never saw any conclusion. It just seemed to disappear, but the aftermath was Madden seemed to be an outcast,so you had to conclude there was more to it than came out
  22. He was accused of having a dodgy silencer by fellow riders.Said it sounded strange in the pits when warming up Since then he had trouble. Not picked by Denmark for SWC etc.And as I mentioned it must have been more than just a personal clash with Stekkers as the situation remained pretty much the same when Secher had the job and now also with Hans
  23. They kept animals to protect their grain. That is why we have domesticated cats, brought to Europe from Egypt by the Romans.Meat was expensive and even up to the 19th century lots of people survived on mainly a vegetarian diet. The reliance on vegetables or particularly the potato was shown in the famine in Ireland
  24. I went to the Boulevard for Briggo’s farewell meeting. Was nearly a disaster as my dads car broke down on the motorway and had to be towed to Worksop for repairs!!Seemed like ages, but we did make it in time and got back to London safely
