  1. I have already pointed out a couple of times that the Premier League held a meeting last season on the problem and the competition from esports!!!!No wonder things go round in circles here lol
  2. The US market is hard to crack.I posted an article here after Greg won one of his latest titles from a US website saying how he was an unknown world champ in his own country. You could say the US is one of the major markets for football and with all the power the sport has globally it has taken a number of efforts and lots more money than speedway has to get this far.It looks fairly stabile, but then I think it did back in the 70s when Pelé and Beckenbauer were playing and then it fell off the radar
  3. But isn’t it the league chairmen who have dragged the sport out of the more it found itself in back in the 70s and early 80s?The FA however saw their major competition the FA Cup turn into a damp squib and also now seem to want to sell off the icon that is Wembley Stadium? It is the league clubs that have moved the sport into the modern world with new stadia and bringing us back near the top of the sport with new centers to train the youngsters. The FA had their development Centre for years to no effect. And we still have the club v country problem listening to Mourinho this week
  4. How did a novice rider manage to get a deal alongside people who were legends in their sport like Keegan and Cooper otherwise?
  5. Great.I was thinking there was more chance of a Scot or two with the track situation, but you are right!! http://www.nsr13.co.uk/profile
  6. Not sure on that.I guess with the West European tracks is the limited dates they have available. So this might be the only weekend they have, which means there will be a meeting held.Just might be an open,no official FIM one if there is any trouble ahead
  7. Matej Ferjan had the same problem. He missed a Poole meeting at Eastbourne,i think because he was waiting for his Hungarian passport to arrive so he could ride in the SWC for Hungary. The man didn't turn up with his passport,so he quickly managed to drive up to Germany to ride in the Bundesliga.I think it took another couple of years before his passport turned up and he rode for Hungary. As different, but similar problem happened with Greg Laguta, who never managed to get his Latvian citizenship and he eventually gave up and returned to the Russian fold....
  8. Just out of interest, are there any active Welsh or Scottish speedway riders in a team at any level?
  9. I don't think they want too many from 1 country in the GPs,as Ghostie say's.There might not be a written limit, but I am sure there is one in peoples thoughts As for Madsen,it is a no-goer really as has been mentioned often enough. He has no real backing in Denmark. Was 2010 the last time(the only time)he received a wild card in the Danish GP?And has no big fan base.Has never qualified for the GPs and looks like it will be another couple of years before he gets his next chance......
  10. It is being advertised, but with the small print that it has to be confirmed by the FIM.So you take a chance, but I guess it is 90% certain.Though they aren't selling tickets yet!!! https://www.eisspeedwayberlin.de/de/home/home.php
  11. Yes,I am sure you can have a one hour taxi ride with a Russian driver in Germany. No problem.A Turkish driver may or may not do the ride quicker
  12. Might be tempted to drive up to this.Would be the second time in a week though that I drive up to Denmark. Can't even really say it is an inspiring line-up,but I would like to see a meeting. As the nominations for next years international championships(World and Euro)come normally from placings here, can we assume Madsen goes another season without a chance of getting into the GPs(2019 blown and his non appearance here puts him out of the 2020 GPs)
  13. Another German speedway world champion!!!.Like buses, you wait ages(decades) and then all of a sudden a couple come along together.Ernst and Blödorn..... And quite strangely all 3 (Egon Müller) are from the north of Germany
  14. I would say the traveling to Copenhagen and back from Jutland was a bit of a pain.I did that once from Hamburg and the rain didn’t help. But stopping at a petrol station on the way back and there was a massive bloody queue!!Can I guess get around it as normally petrol stations in Denmark aren’t staffed,so I could maybe have payed at the pump, but if you wanted a snack or a drink etc then you were stuffed I do think Phil has a point with needing a superstar. The Danes are very patriotic and won’t just turn up to watch their riders finish 3rd or 4th.I also on both occasions witnessed some nasty hooliganism at Parken with a running street battle once.Never seen any trouble elsewhere in Denmark
  15. Isn’t that thanks to the EU?Remember plenty of road signs with EU flags on them probably saying the building of the road is funded by the EU.You should be made to pay a toll to use EU roads once you are out lol
  16. That is right.Your choice, but I would never attend a track where the likelihood is that I pay my money and not get my money’s worth. For me a rip off just as much as a badly prepared track
  17. But they didn’t manage to get the meeting run till the end again!!!12 heats raced and you pay the full whack for the pleasure?Rip off speedway whatever way you look at it
  18. Goes back to the Vojens GP Challenge when he made a nasty move on Bjerre
  19. Bit of an exaggeration.I said before the start that he wouldn't win despite some saying how he was doing great in Poland, and he has always been a dirty b.......
  20. Probably not the last GP,but could it be the last UK meeting of the season?
  21. There were a number of People who were complaining about the heat yesterday,so i think it is good BSI have taken their complaints seriously and moved it to a cooler time of year. But of course there are now complaints about that. You can't win sometimes
  22. See there is a big meeting today to discuss the inclusion of esports(video games etc) in the Olympics!!!!!No wonder the Premier League had a summit last season to discuss the future competition for youngsters attention/participation from the So-called esports. Would Speedway be better concentrating on forming an esport speedway league? No noise,no emissions,no problem with weather or stadiums etc and could then possibly enter the Olympics and extend the interest around the world
