  1. Seems dramatic. My cousin broke his collar bone in a speedway crash a few weeks back and stayed for the rest of the training session and then was driven back to London from Kent before going to hospital a number of hours after the injury occured!! But as you say each injury is different and each person and their pain levels are also different
  2. What is it then? Are you saying all heats idiot and the riders with 9 after 2 heats know they can't be caught, that is why they fail to start for their 3rd heat. Then we still don't know why Nicki wasn't in the A final? The same format used in the Ostseepokal and I do feel it robs me of the chance to see the best riders in all their heats
  3. Surprised you ask this!!!It is the reason some riders only ride two heats if they do well.No need to turn out for the 3rd heat if they already have enough
  4. Exactly! They would kick out another team just to get slaughtered in front of their fans
  5. Seemed somewhat strange to hold the team final at Heerenveen
  6. Wouldn’t bother with turn 4.Got to be the worst position I have ever seen at a stadium.Back straight is good, especially for me at the left side, just where the riders are coming out of the bend
  7. A better league average doesn’t mean too much.Olsens 1976 average was better than his 1975 one,yet he failed to make the final in 1976 as reigning world champion
  8. Even if Tai wins this year it won’t put him ahead of Nicki imo.Nicki has more GP wins and more silver and bronze medals atm.But Tai has had a far shorter career and could easily end up with a better record
  9. I do agree to a large extent.Flash some big wedge and you suddenly open doors. It isn’t always a level playing field with the FIM.We know that from Berlin pulling out of the ice speedway world championship a few years back ,complaining that they were having to meet standards other tracks didn’t I sorta thought the Argentina project was more something of a personal ambition of Castagnas rather than money though
  10. There are standard sizes and widths as well.Think there are only a handful of UK tracks that have been inspected and meet them.It is the same with long track, although they at least changed the rules so they could race in Poland on a large speedway track.Plus if I remember Costa Mesa has a bloody big hill at one bend for freestyle jumps, which obscured the racing from fans and referee
  11. It doesn’t matter.Someone was arguing wild cards didn’t exist. Both you and I know they did
  12. Well how did the Polish riders qualify for the 1973 final?Swedish riders did have qualifiers for some of their finals, but how many meetings did they ride?Whereas how many meetings did some of the continental riders do or some British(Australian/NZ)riders do when the final wasn’t at Wembley Plus I was answering a post that said there were no wc’s and you have confirmed there were,no matter how short the period was
  13. Totally wrong about wildcards.Think riders were even given byes into the actual world finals. And some riders only had to do 1 or 2 rounds whilst others 4,5 or6
  14. Trouble is some people think they know it all.Someone asked after yesterday’s training was called off of lessons had been learnt and covers should be used. The answer from a person at the club wa ‘what lessons should be learnt? The weather will be perfect’
  15. I did say the same before a wheel had been turned at the first GP.Terroble track and that was known at the time. The U21 final a year or 2 before was almost called off by Stekkers because of a protest,I think from the Aussie team and another german meeting the senior riders refused to ride.Still others know better,so they think
  16. As I posted. a couple of days back the weather isn’t good.GP practice has been cancelled! Looks like it will be wet tomorrow afternoon, but clearing up around 4 or 5,so the meeting shouldn’t be in danger, but the grass bank might be a bit slippery for spectators
  17. Denis Waterman would probably have been a Dons fan.Think his family were well know boxers from Earlsfield and I was at school just around the corner from his girlfriend at the time Rula Lenska who lived near Wimbledon Theatre
  18. I wasn’t indicating you did think Simmons had ‘exclusive rights’,but asking if the riders I mentioned are also considered legends
  19. No not bad,but he isn’t that high up in the list of best rider never to win a world title is he?Les Collins,Chris Morton,Gordon Kennett John Louis are they all legends? And Tommy Knudsen,Bo Petersen,Dennis Sigalos,Billy Sanders Phil Crump etc.....How many legends are there just from the 70s and 80s? Robbie B was making it sound an exclusive club, but then when you look at the criteria it doesn’t really sound like one
  20. Pavlic was European champion and had been in a GP the year(2007)before signing for Swindon
