Think you must have missed my post from a couple of hours ago!!!!
-
The 1951 Final was also similar. In fact the top 2 in the end were on 4 after 2 rides. Two riders had 6 points and one ended up 7th and in fact the rider that had 12 after 4 rides then finished last in his 5th and 3 rd out of 3 in the run off for the title!!!Blew it big time. The rider who finished 4th,Ronnie Moore also had 4 after 2 rides The 1956 final, the top 5 in the end all had 4 after hit 8.Boothroyd was in the lead with 5 and ended up 10th!!

That is who I thought of as well

Not really wanting to get into this, but can’t resist.... but didn’t one of the Poles ein the World U21 final on the toss of a coin, because the meeting was called off early? So in theory if the rules were the same,it could be possible a meeting is cut short and a rider or two that haven’t won a heat are tied with one who has and by the toss of the coin one who hasn’t won a heat wins the world final!!!
-
Wasn’t there a 4th or should really be a second,as pre-war riders took quali points into a Wembley final and the rider that won the final wasn’t crowned champ, but the rider with the most quali+ final points.Think the same was due to happen in the final that never took place due to the outbreak of the war
-
Thought the bike problem really came to a peak when the new silencers were brought in a few years ago? Then there was even talk of a strike or boycott I think. And it was affecting almost everyone, even Gollob and the other Poles.Has the problem been solved or have riders just got used to the difficulty and accepted it?

Have to say,Franky Zorn is always well turned out in his mostly white suit
-
Is this down t American intelligence I wonder? After all in the UK speedway thrived for about 40 years when most had black leathers.Did the introduction of personal leathers mark the start of the downfall of the sport? We ended up having a group of individual riders, rather than a team.........
-
You could use Emil as a good example.A very good rider and at one time his bikes seemed to have 20 or 30% more power than his rivals. The Sky commentators even mentioned it,questioned it,but he doesn't have a single title to his name. The Poles over the past decade have had brilliant equipment and make up striking amount of ground at times, yet?

That is why staying in Flensburg might be worth looking at
-
Then again Kolding to Vojens only takes about 35-40 minutes,so no big deal I did stay in a hotel just outside Vojens and walked to the track.Place was ok Probably just as easy to stay somewhere like Sonderborg, which is very nice and has some good bars.A Scottish one and a Bavarian one for instance or even Flensburg isn’t too far away .Ribe, one of the oldest towns in Denmark is also 40 minutes away and has a decent Viking museum and a nice little town.Aabenraa is also a nice little place where you can enjoy a drink at the beach or in the market square Seeing as it takes me 2 hours or so,all these places are just down the road from Vojens for me at least

The same can be said of riders like Mauger. He always made sure he was on the best, but that is surely part of being a class rider.Rickardsson was the same.Doesn’t mean they were lesser riders. The opposite is the case
-
Not always the case.In 72 and 75 didn’t they just have the British final? And in 81 the Overseas final was at White City for instance and mainly you only had to finish in the top 10 or 11!!!Do you honestly think Tai isn’t good enough to do that? He rides more top meetings abroad than those old riders ever had to do.More in one GP season than a lot did in their wc career,so many were held in the UK
-
Of course on the face of it stock cars should beat F1 easily. The best drivers start at the back don't they? And as Tai said about speedway, you can see all the action from your spot. Now if they gave the best speedway riders a head start, what would people say about the sport???? Maybe promoters are missing a trick there.....

There was even a report on the Beeb about young Sam McGurk!!! What the hell is going on? Lol
-
You must also recognize the fact that governing bodies are trying to push women’s versions of popular sports. As the male versions are popular there is the theory that the potential is also there for women’s versions. One of the disadvantages of speedway is it doesn’t have a popular version lol

Ole just has to invest in a robot lawnmower or two and the place looks as good as ever!!! -
I think the same way sports have rules. They naively expect people to play fairly. They obviously didn’t think one sport might make a campaign to get one person voted, just as sports expect people to play fair and not cheat A campaign is a form of cheating.I well imagine a number of speedway riders the year before all had a small but decent support, then all of a sudden Briggo got massive support and the other riders probably only got a handful of votes between them.Stuck out like. a sore thumb,I bet

Some of the food/drink sales points and changing rooms were only completed less than a decade ago.But the stadium really consists of the stand with a roof and seats, which on the face of it for a speedway stadium outside of Poland is a bit of a luxury!!! -
Never the less he was really correct. No matter how popular speedway was in 1966 it wasn’t as popular as the football World Cup and the England team. And even if Briggo was by far the most popular speedway rider,he wasn’t as popular as the most popular football players, was he?

I also got it wrong with Madsen getting a wild card.Never thought that would happen.nd while I am on a roll I stated at the start of the season I didn’t think Lindgren would finish in one of the top GP places. He did
