  1. In a way that causes another problem though.Say one or two teams produce their own talent and are forced year after year to release one of their own good youngsters. The promoter and fans are p’d off with that situation..... The sport has got itself in such a situation where sorting one problem generally only starts another
  2. Meaning they ride/drive in one series where you can make rules to suit. They don’t ride in different leagues, often under different authorities and then in international meetings. If they only exclusively rode in one league or in one country it would be as easy as in F1 or Formula Ford etc .And generally the cars bikes are supplied by the team at top level at least and if someone wants to drive in Formula Ford and also do Drag Racing then that is his choice
  3. Surely any speedway fan can instantly spot the difference between our sport and practically any other motor sport I can think of?
  4. Surely this has to be done across the board in world speedway or it will never work and is there a call in other countries for such a move? If we have a different type of bike in the UK it won't help much.Foreign riders will need a new bike for the UK and they will most probably ask the cub to cough up for the funding, when they sign.Plus you put young British riders at a disadvantage when they ride abroad.Established riders can afford numerous bikes, but a young rider going to Eurpe for an international meeting riding his 'cheap' british model will be out of his depth.I mean if a bike can be cheaply produced and still have the same performance of an expensive one, then a manufacturer is missing a trick big time in undercutting rivals and taking a large chunk of the market....... We will also end up with people asking why foreign riders are getting supplied with a new bike and not young Brits.A self made problem, yet again
  5. I do remember back about a decade ago one Danish club ran a few meetings in Germany at Jübek.Long track.Faint memories that they had a few Dutch speedway championship meetings at Moorwinkelsdamm as well.
  6. That’s a bit of a jump.Someone mentioned or should we say misspelt walk(Waulk) And I made a bit of a joke.Of course waulk or waulking is part of the traditional process of making tweed, but I couldn’t think of a funny comment about tweed. But since you have popped up tweedle dum springs to mind
  7. You just have to follow the posts to see how we got there or got onto taking pics of cars etc.I know it is difficult for some to follow a conv, but sometimes they go a bit off track.Maybe read through things a few times and you will get there
  8. I see it differently and those on the walks are bigoted an I don’t apologize for having a little jokey pop at them
  9. Those that don’t have a decent upbringing are probably those on the Orange waulks!!!!
  10. I only went there the once.A bank holiday early the season and they were amazing, especially considering Street was a sort of Reg Luckhurst/Bert Harkins standard really
  11. Not sure that all makes sense,Plus I don’t think it was 1973 was it?Crump was out pretty early that season and was in your team!!
  12. Not sure that is true. When Street developed his 4-valve both he and Crump were much faster than most until they managed to catch up.Crump took a whole 3 seconds off a track record in Australia and the amount of full maximums they got was pretty amazing.Street for the first couple of months of that season must have been on a high average until everything settled down. It proved that the bike could make a decisive, even big difference even in the 70s
  13. It is possible in some countries, like Germany to watch the GPs live and for nowt through the GP website for instance
  14. Does remind me of the classic Standard Liege trick from the old Danny Baker radio show on how people get into football for nothing. Two guys brought themselves Liege club ties and then used to announce at top football clubs that they were club scouts from Liege and wanted to attend the next game.Seemingly they all fell for it lol
  15. Exactly, but I think at least with the world championship the chances of dodgy dealings in a 20 heat meeting are greater than in a GP season.I think the need for such a deal is very rare in the GPs as it doesn’t often go down to the wire
  16. Fair enough.Thought there was a story somewhere there, but did put a disclaimer at the bottom as I wasn’t sure But there are enough out there.Olle Nygren has stated something about races being bought in world finals, though I haven’t read the story. Was it in classic speedway or one of those mags?
  17. Guess it is a case of being safe rather than sorry. If you don’t play the game, even a ‘poor’ opponent can still take you out Ronnie Moore in his online interview with Briggo, does make comment on a sort of mafia at the top of the sport when he first came over, who had control of things and it was difficult to break into this closed shop
  18. Seems to remember a story about the Parker brothers in one of those post-war finals.Norman had 3 straight wins and in his 4 th heat was up against his brother, who he knew desperately wanted the title. So Norman let his brother win the heat, even though he could have won 4 on the trot.In his last heat he finished last, but he was of the opinion that if it wasn’t for letting his brother through he could have won that title.Probably again by paying off the others.Think that is correct
  19. Well apart from the Brexit uncertainty, all is well.Hope the same with you and Whitey
  20. I’d also say over a GP series there is less likely to be any monkey business of paying off opponents.Think it was the aforementioned Jack Biggs, who after winning his first 4 rides didn’t think it necessary to met the monetary demands of one or two of his last heat opponents and then got shut out, finished last and last again in the title run -off!!! The question is,how many of the other champs thought it wise to pay out?
  21. Like the bit about any Pole being able to get accreditation for some fictional magazine.Sure there was a polish woman a few years ago that had a BSPA pass and her fotos were terrible!!!Think someone must have rumbled her as I am not sure her online postings lasted a season
  22. You taking the piss now.Mentioned that one as well
