Here we go something nice is turned into a negative by the usual suspects
-
We also had that legendary fake story of Sergei Baranov or whateverhewascalled from the(this bit will have you in Stiches)Red Herring fleet, who turned out to be some second half(wit)er
-
There was a league in Holland/Netherlands just a couple of years back
-
Well someone I guess at the Star also came up with the story about how Coventry’s East German,Gerhard Uhlenbrock escaped Communism hidden in a sidecar or maybe he had his family hidden.Anyway it was fake news as it is known nowadays
-
Not to forget those like ex Trelawney rider,Mirko Wolter who started out as an East German and ended as German
-
Never heard that.I do know one of the Wiesböck twins,Alois was banned at one time, because he rode as his brother,Josef in a world championship quali!!!

Guess the first period you started watching is always the fondest. I was lucky to start at Plough Lane when Varg-Olle was ruling the roost and loved watching the stars of the day under the floodlghts, especially on those nights when the place was packed! That love affair lasted until the dark day when our local hero,Tommy Jansson tragically died.I still continued until the end of the ‘77 season, then my visits were somewhat sporadic Until I started going regularly again ,and being more mobile, also further afield in 1984.That period, which I also loved lasted until the Dons closed in 1991,but have to admit the last season or so,I was going out of routine instead of the love of the sport Then on moving to Hamburg I rediscovered the sport on seeing the track magazine Bahnsport Aktuel at a local railway station, but it took me a year or so to get to a track, because I first had to find out where they were and had missed the local meetings for that season anyway. From memory the first meeting was a Vojens GP which TRick won in 2003-4,then I found Brokstedt wasn’t more than an hour away I also love reading about the early pre-war daysand would love to get in a time machine and go back to see some of those old tracks and stars

Seems Bradley Andrews has another op on his arm soon and is planning on spannering for German rider Dominik Möser in Denmark/Germany this season
-
Seems like a few mistakes in there, but otherwise a good read She surely wasn’t the first European or US dirt track rider to visit Australia!!!

Here is an appeal for information. Not sure if this is the woman who was going to do a book on Taylour before someone beat her to it? https://www.somersetcountygazette.co.uk/news/7184925.sunny-somerset-appeal/ Seems quite specific Info on both name and the area she lived in
-
Well in a previous post you do say you are ‘certain Vera Hole was Sunny Somerset’ and we both it seems saw this Info in Lionel Crossleys book on Crystal Palace. So it is a matter of is Crossleys Info credible. But if you were certain before why question it now? I think other sources seem to confirm this And I am all for questioning things, but once you are certain then that is it,surely?
-
It is not to ridicule, but to show it has been discussed before
-
We have been over this a few times I think,do not sure why you post twice on the subject now,but
-
Lisa Whibberly has the clever or cruel nickname of ‘whibberly wobbly’ I seem to remember
-
I thought it was fairly clear I only linked to the old thread to present the evidence about Baltzer Hansen’s name.I didn’t fancy trawling the net yet again,to seek out the links. It had nothing to do with any of your posts or choices

We don’t really know how many,if any of the crowd knew who she was or of her time in internment. Her last track appearance was 15 or more years before. It could well be many had no idea and just cheered, whilst others in such a crowd showed disapproval.I have been in many crowds of that size and it is impossible to say what each individual was thinking You surely aren’t trying to tel us 20,000 people were applauding a known fascist?
-
Yes,but that proves little.Let’s not forget the Oswald Mosley fascist movement had quite a few followers as well. And he stayed around a few years after the war and started a new party until he left the country not long after Taylour
-
Did you know who she was and that she was interned during the war for her political affiliation, when you attended that meeting?
-
Guess it would be wiser to state injury rather than work load
-
I have seen one or two photos of Gene with his father, who I remember being dressed in East African style clothes
-
There was also the twin sisters (Grosser I now remember)here in North Germany about 5 years back that were doing well until Egon Müller backed them for big things and then they disappeared Also remember seeing a couple of other local women riding,Jessica Bilgenroth who wasn’t too bad and Sarah Strawinsky who swapped to being a sidecar passenger. Then of course quite a few Danish girls took up the sport.Sabrina Bøgh being the most successful female of recent times. The beautiful Jørgensen who was signed by one of the Polish clubs as a publicity stunt!!
-
Oh,has it been confirmed he is out with injury? Was all a bit quiet as to the reason why.But he pulled out of an earlier meeting due to not being able to get time off work,so thought it was the same here
-
Be difficult to include her in ‘favourite’ seeing as she was classed a traitor, even though she was quite possibly the best Irish rider of them all.But she was also probably the most famous,as you say
