  1. Well in the guidelines.... Trolls A troll is a contributor whose sole intent in posting is to be a disturbance to the community. Trolls may post excessively inflammatory or offensive messages with the intention of upsetting people, "flame" or insult, crash an appreciation thread to attack the subject being appreciated, or post the same message repeatedly on multiple boards to take up space and disrupt the forums. Posters engaging in this type of behaviour lose their rights of membership and will be removed.
  2. Just a shame when someone tries to give a thread a new impulse, you tend to bring it back to the same old, same old.It does get a bit boring No rule against it,just as there is no rule against criticising a post
  3. And that was interesting once or twice, but not really necessary to repeat these things over and over on any number of threads.Guess though you do have quite a bit to add to those car racing forums
  4. Looking back it is surprising just how empty it all feels even for a London derby.Only looks like the pits bend had a large group. The Grandstand etc look sparse and the racing(well 80% very poor).Guess I was part of the cause,as during this period I hardly attended, but did really enjoy the mid 80s
  5. As ever Halifax makes some very good points One thing comes to mind.Going back to 2004 or 2005,we had fans criticising things going on.They were getting posts on here telling them it was the Promoters who were putting in the money and because of that were above criticism and those criticising should put substantial amounts into the sport and then maybe they would have a different opinion.Even worse, they were told by certain Promoters to bugger off More than a decade later, many fans have done........ You have to engage with fans,no matter how hard it might seem. You have to try and explain your position even if some won' accept the answer. You have to fight like a champion to make your business successful, because all of your competitors, whoever they may be,will take advantage if you don't.Telling fans to p off or ban them from forums isn't the way forward
  6. European Championship day 2 from Ufa.Bit drawn out at 3 and a half hours.Outside freezing and in the refs box they are wearing Hawaiian shirts 3:22:00 is the great race off between Bauer and Iwema
  7. Also add Brixton Stadium among others and it is hard to think of another city in the world that had so many sports stadiums with all the many proper football, rugby and cricket stadiums https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brixton_Greyhound_Stadium
  8. Look at the ad with the view from a glass fronted stand and it was a decent stadium https://runner500.wordpress.com/tag/charlton-greyhound-stadium/
  9. Frank Arnold was said to be behind an attempt to bring speedway to the Mitcham Stadium in 1947.I wonder was there ever an attempt at a couple of other South London stadia I.e Wandsworth and the short lived Battersea stadium?
  10. In 1948 there was an application host speedway at Charlton. Was that then at the Greyhound stadium?
  11. It does bring back some of my earliest memories of the sport. Not the attending, but hearing the bikes from the end of my street.Even i guess during school holidays, when I used to hear the riders practicing on a Friday morning/afternoon at Plough Lane.I was too young to stray from our road though
  12. Well it seems the cars started over a decade after speedway had closed,so maybe circumstances had changed.Possibly those who had previously complained no longer lived near the track?
  13. Interesting to read that not only poor crowds (not surprising given the proximity to other, more established clubs) but also complaints from neighbours about noise,is given as reasons for the closure of Walthamstow. Not quite the modern phenomenon it is made out to be
  14. Never even visited Walthamstow even though some of my family including my mum come from the area.Stadium that is,I have of course visited Walthamstow to see family
  15. Good to hear someone else appreciated his style.Must admit I have a number of Swindon faves,as for some reason I sort of adopted Swindon as my second team for a few years in the 70s.But only ever visited the track once.Well i only ever visited Swindon twice in my life so far
  16. Good one, although I thought we concluded his surname was Weir?
  17. There are also the two Danes who I think might be related Kenneth Hansen & Kenni Hansen, who I guess his full name is also Kenneth.I Danish they also have their middle name,so maybe qualify for the other thread Kenneth Kruse Hansen Kenni Trasborg Hansen
  18. Here is the great Morian Hänsen on what is probably the Danish equivalent of This is your Life.Mostly in Danish,But a piece in English talking about WW2 with an English RAF guy and also one of his Danish contemporaries On the dirt tracks,Svend Age Engstrôm https://www.dr.dk/bonanza/serie/62/her-er-dit-liv/70565/her-er-dit-liv-morian-hansen
  19. Wasn’t there two Damian Balinski’s?The elder being the uncle of the younger?
  20. It did seem at the time that riders had to get going very quickly as there were plenty of others out there to take their places
  21. One young Pole who looked to have a promising future but never really made it.Was this his best ever meeting I wonder?Probsbly his most memorable.Marcin Rempala
