In 1973 when Gerhard Uhlenbrock rode for Coventry he was also riding for West Germany. Maybe Dinse or someone rode as East Germans? But Hehlert also turned out for West Germany so doubt he qualifies. But really Chunky is making the mistake of thinking there were 3 German states, when in reality there was only 2. East Germany joined the Bundesrepublik or the 5 states became part of it.They didn’t form a new state So you will only find two sets of German champions for instance, not 3.There isn’t a West Germany and then a Germany.West and East are colloquial terms.

Can't really help much,but.......there was an announcement in the Hamburg press(December 1932) that a group of Englishmen would run the Lokstedt track in 1933 under the experienced Australian promoter A.J.Reynolds.It was stated he had started a number of tracks in his homeland as well as in 1930 a track in Singapore !!! His experience didn't help the Hamburg track much I guess

How strange is a Brazilian rider? Well ok,we do have one riding this last decade or so,in a way But Antonio wasn't the first. In fact he wasn't even the first Antonio from Brazil to ride in Europe Way back in 1930 a rider from Brazil,Antonio Moreno turned up in Hamburg and rode a number of meetings. In fact he won his first race........

10th November and the final meeting of the first season at Lokstedt Considering the season started at the beginning of July it today seems incredible they managed 44 meetings and a number of other dates being cancelled!! Sadly the weather in the last few weeks wasn't good and the crowds dropped off.Only 3,000 or so were interested enough to turn up to see the climax of the first German Championship.Apparently while Germany was struggling, as was shown with the very short season in Cologne as well,Copenhagen was seeing sell out crowds. The match race for the Champonship between the local matador Kellner and Heck from Berlin went to a deciding 3rd heat after first Heck, then Kellner won.Unfortunately Kellner had to borrow a bike for the decider,as his Douglas played up before the start.Heck shot off and although Kellner made a last gasp effort round the bend to the finish line it wasn't enough and Heck was crowned the German Dirt Track Champion of 1929.Fritz Niss beat Werner in the race for 3rd. That was 1929.The season when Dirt Track came to Germany, looked to have taken a big step with a purpose built stadium and Cologne had joined Hamburg, with news of other tracks being prepared. But it wasn't long before rumours of trouble ahead were being spread around Hamburg !!!

Came across a report that some time in April 1930 the Dortmund track record was broken by Herbert Drews in poor conditions to 1:38,2 and Easter Monday in Copenhagen Sprouts Elder broke Ginger Lees track record from 1:28,4 down to 1.25,2 !!!

A regular thing with the 2 clubs nearest to me.Asking for help painting, cutting grass or repairing things.Everything is provided as well as food and drink.Just got to have the time and it is your decision to turn up or not. Same as some conservation groups ask you to help clear up a beach or river bank etc Don’t see why anyone can get upset

Russian tv report on the Speedway of Nations,Togliatti.Pretty sparse crowd

Surely it is not of such importance to you that you can't wait, say 30 minutes or even an hour or two for someone to answer? As it was,you got the answer pretty quick and still have to ask elsewhere....probably a pm to britmet who mentioned the site would have sufficed. But no...... Let's stop this nonsense yet again and get on with this thread
-
The answer is on the thread you created just to ask this question Now you decide to ask again here. Then wonder why people think you are dicking around?
-
You must have missed it,but the webmaster Brian Collins has stated he can't update the site any more for a technical reason. So as someone else said yesterday on the SA tour thread,it is 'frozen'

Very interesting article.Just look at some of those crowds!!!

Well if we are allowed..... A spectacular crash to start this Rye v Dons clash!!! Any idea on the riders for each team?

Or when Hefenbrock beat Gollob in heat 1 of the German GP 2007 ?!?

All I am saying John is you just post things you don’t check. This list a couple of times even after it was pointed out Clem Cort didn’t ride for Wimbledon in the Southern League.Posting a link to an article stating Wembley hosted the 1985 World Final etc,etc !!!! Why Not Check things before posting? And why post things after they have been questioned as false? So,yes.Imo shoot the messenger and quickly!!!
-
But you keep posting the lists even after it has previously been pointed out they are not correct The whole point of history research and postings is to control, question and correct mistakes. Not ignore and repost mistakes
-
Quite misleading though to state riders who made up the Wimbledon teams. Then in bold Southern League 1929...then a few riders who never rode for Wimbledon in the Southern League In 1929 !!! Plus in Corts case to list Wimbledon and Harringay and not the actual team he did ride Southern League
-
Not only that.I see no evidence that Forster,Ewen,Buchanan or Spencer ever rode an official meeting in the Southern League for the Dons that season.Maybe gustix can point us to those meetings?
-
As far as I can see it makes no mention of Southern League.Cort rode a challenge match for Wimbledon and also one for Harringay.Strange that no mention is made of all the meetings he did ride in the Southern League for White City.Maybe you have taken this list out of context?
