  1. Looking to get a decent line up together for Mads at Outrup 12.04.2019 . http://www.outrup-speedway.dk/
  2. Not about being clever, just following the forum guidelines ya know Starting Topics Before you start a thread, check to see if a similar thread has already been started. Duplicate threads will be closed. Please make your title descriptive, reflecting the topic you're addressing, rather than a generic title such as "Question" or "I Need Help."
  3. Despite over 60 pages discussing this topic, someone just started the basic thing all over again, asking for peoples opinions.I had to laugh.Anyone else agree ?
  4. A short report from Berlin tv channel with a short clip of Celina saying ‘you need balls’ And you can also see Schuby ‘the voice’ one of the worlds greatest stadium announcers. At least in his opinion https://www.rbb24.de/sport/beitrag/2019/03/46-eisspeedway-in-berlin.html There is a shorter report after the meeting on the same channel.Less than 90 seconds though
  5. Probably 50-50 with my family. My sister still lives very central in Lambeth Walk and my parents in Merton and a lot of my family still live in Wandsworth. Some though live further afield near Southampton or Bedford and my Auntie live in Kings Lynn Of all places.Lost Touch with others who lived in Bermondsey and Walthamstow , so no idea if any still live there
  6. Were a number of hockey teams based near speedway , Wembley and Harringay spring to mind
  7. Two meetings planned for the weekend if anyone can't wait to see a bit of action.Weather not looking too good though and so far,no riders announced as far as I know,so I probably won't be making the trip.A number of top riders have been to the track for practice recently including Vaculik and Iversen and a few Poles https://www.speedwayteam-wittstock.de/ Just seen the weekend has been called off due to the weather!!!
  8. Surely though it is in the Councils interest that a facility is used the best it can.The more people that can be attracted into the area the better? I don't know though how many times planning applications have been entered. And of course residents concerns have to be taken into account. But like someone else has stated it is only a change of day, and the weekend I would have thought is better than a monday
  9. German nominations for the Euro quails.....and more http://www.speedweek.com/speedway-racing/news/139871/Praedikatsrennen-2019-DMSB-Startplaetze-sind-vergeben.html
  10. The German nominations in full http://www.speedweek.com/speedway-racing/news/139871/Praedikatsrennen-2019-DMSB-Startplaetze-sind-vergeben.html
  11. The reality is though that Newspaper and Magazine sales are dropping off, sometimes at an alarming rate now due to competition from the internet.Same as cd sales have fallen. All generally available quicker and cheaper on the internet.Speedway Star is no exception ,but falling crowds obviously play a part in that as well https://www.statista.com/statistics/288836/hello-magazine-circulation-trend-uk/
  12. Here is an idea for marketing a seasonal business...... Whether you own an ice-cream shop on the Jersey shore, a ski shop in the mountains of Colorado, or a landscaping business in central Minnesota, you’ve experienced the challenges of the dreaded off-season. After your peak season ends, a stretch of slow business begins, and your website and store front become ghost towns. Plus, who's to say this season's customers will remember you when the next season rolls around? It's a bummer of a thought, to be sure. But don’t let the seasonal slumps get you down! Instead of sitting around and waiting for your season to start again, use this valuable time for marketing! Your customers don’t vaporize during the off-season. It’s important to stay in contact with leads and past customers throughout the entire year. Consider social media your virtual, year-round storefront -- because even if your audience isn't chillin' outside your store or visiting your website, they are certainly perusing their social media feeds! That means your business should consider leveraging Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, the whoooole shebang to stay top of mind year-round. Generate Off-Season Hype Just because people can't snowshoe in the summer, or you have a smaller audience looking to wear your trendy sun hats in the dead of winter, doesn't mean you can't get people excited about your business Tried and tested methods for various industries or ask Sid and his mate what you should do?
  13. Apparently just saying someone is 'posting bull rubbish' is enough !!! Maybe it is the particular person, who we shouldn't attack their posts. And I did point out,i was attacking the post(s) rather than the person.Didn't make any difference.I also wrote 'bull rubbish' rather than the ruder version as I knew it would get changed anyway. So all a bit of a mystery to me
  14. I could have, but I was sitting on a ban and I thought it might take a day or more for the post to get moderated and someone else would have posted them in the meantime, making my post irrelevant........and nobody did!!! All I can remember is Kevin Wölbert didn't want to be considered.Only for the Euro's and he got his spot in that I actually started to write it all out,and then scrapped it because of the reason above
  15. Will that change after Brexit? Genuine question,as I have seen this week that an Italian woman who has lived in the UK for 59 years has had to prove she is allowed to live in the UK.Wonder how it will affect someone who isn't even working in the UK? Confused of Hamburg
  16. Germany named their riders for most of not all comps a few days back.Surprised they haven’t been posted.Erik Riss is down for Glasgow
  17. Don’t think Glücklich belongs in this category at all.Ok near the end of his career he had a bad season in the BL , but that doesn’t wipe out his achievements or make him ‘forgotten’ or obscure https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henryk_Glücklich Finished 5th in the world and in the 75 European Final finished 5th behind Mauger,Olsen,Crump and Michanek having beaten both Olsen and Michanek in the meeting.
  18. Think the question was Speedway related....
  19. For some strange reason you edited the part of my post out that dealt with that !!!!
  20. Possibly Wembley were the best supported team anywhere in the world ever? Pre-war they were getting over 2,000,000 fans in one season After the war in 1946 they opened with a crowd of 80,000 v Belle Vue,had a 72,000 crowd against Birmingham and an 85,000 v Wimbledon.Through the season the average attendance was 60,000+ .By the early 1950s though ,the crowds were falling...
  21. Wembley or Cardiff hold a few or did
  22. Is it possible the area was already known as the frying pan? There is another area known as the frying pan in nearby Clapham
  23. Mentioned before but West and East are colloquialisms didn’t really exist alongside a Germany. It was just Germany and the Communist German state, which later merged into Germany.Just 2 countries . And had there been an East German in British speedway, as both Uhlenbrock and Hehlert were no longer when they rode
  24. Picking out special cases mainly due to England and Scotland being in at the start of the sports having a traditional place within the sport. Can also look at Curling where Scotland and England do compete. But in general internationally run sports don’t recognize them and only GB can compete.Even in speedway which we are talking about they don’t allow England ,Scotland ,Wales or Jersey to compete any more
  25. The topic is How many Nations have been represented. And then when Jersey is given 'that's what I was looking for ,is the answer.I'll be blowed It'll probably take a while for this to get through, because apparently saying someone is posting bullrubbish is worth a ban,but it is ok to call me names!!!
