Would it be a bit like Flat track is flourishing in Canada, because they host 9 meetings a year? Can you clarify what flourishing means? Each speedway track must in your opinion be flourishing , surely ?
-
It was more an apology to the paying public, expecting to see Doyle and instead getting a reserve

But of football grounds I have visited in London , Millwall, Wimbledon, Dulwich, Kingstonians, Tooting and Mitcham, Arsenal, Fisher Athletic just off the top of my head have all moved. Although Dulwich has a new ground built on the same site

Confirmed GP dates 2020
iris123 replied to Mark's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should be a good weekend of speedway/ grass track as Teterow are hosting the 100 anniversary meeting on the grass track the day after. And I would guess Güstrow will also have their traditional meeting that weekend. Friday would make sense -
Sounds ominous for Startrax. Could be losing 2 tracks.!!! I thought the sport was in a better position than speedway from one or two. And 1 million for such a site does seem a little naieve,no?
-
Doyle has pulled out and Iversen couldn’t do the meeting, so Beyer is in as replacement for Doyle, which seriously weakens Esbjerg
-
Oh I remember Loram riding round before he was even on the team. Think he was the mascot. Sure I even have a team pic and he is there in his gear when he was too young for a team place
-
I am not the most technical of people, but would you say cars are more stable with their 4 wheels on axles than the likes of a speedway bike with two wheels in a line ? I await your informed reply
-
Which would be a strange thing to do. Base a track on a track that hadn't even opened, so you have no idea how it rides !! No doubt that is probably what happened. But I tend to think the problem is the surface and of course the Danish weather, particularly local weather.
-
Nope. Just reported the topic
-
Doesn't matter. This isn't the Flat Track section. This all has nothing to do with the section. Just you again trying to put things in which interest nobody and in the wrong section
-
Was there a rider called De Javu riding in Canada, because I have a feeling we have been here before !!! Add the fact earlier this year you said on the Flattrack activity thread Canada hold 6 meetings a year!! Hardly what you would call ‘flourishing’ !!!

Just seen this on Facebook on the DMU page ‘Well done Vojens, great show, great advert for speedway ..., from a happy Scotsman’ So different opinions as ever and I think importantly from those many thousands who attended. I have often found myself enjoying a Vojens meeting and then come home to read the negative opinions on the forum. Not without grounds I add. Just the experience is often very different
-
Why ? Matters not what happens in Denmark or Germany etc . Just Cardiff. And as long as that is on the calendar then it is unlikely any other UK venue will host a GP Denmark as one of the major speedway countries when you look at titles won, are entitled to a GP. Just a pity they have crap tracks
-
Well I for one am happy. Helps me with more chances of a speedway meeting or two. Just hope the crowds are better than last time and I am not standing in a big stadium with only 300-600 people

Bit late with the Vojens news. I must have posted that 6 months ago !!!

Here is the website of the Arena and it is listed in the 2nd Calendar https://arenalodowa.pl/

Olsen was one of the riders I was thinking of.The main one, when it came to universal unpopularity... Seem to remember he got booed when he won a world title, but couldn't recall which
-
Ove Fundin. At least at Plough Lane. And he told me himself he was booed and had things thrown at him. It was because he often beat local hero Ronnie Moore. He said to me, he liked the track, but the locals didn't like him.....chuckling away, as he remembered

Yes and no, as it wasn't a team meeting. But in an indoor meeting in Kiel I did witness a heat where nobody finished. Well they did, but the one rider that made it to the end was excluded by the ref for 'not trying', which was probably a bit harsh seeing as so many riders had problems with the concrete surface and a number (Tobi Kroner, I think broke a leg) were injured
