  1. Yup. Trump got less votes than Clinton, but still won
  2. It isn’t only in speedway, that is how sport works. Think you can win at tennis, snooker or darts for instance without winning the majority of points?
  3. Is Lambert leaving ? There was a load of what seemed like publicity pics on the net the other day with him, Michelsen and the rest of the team
  4. As I posted earlier in the thread. The FIM inspected the track and gave it an international license for a further 3 years. It doesn’t though specifically say it has a contract for the SGP for a further 3 years. The promoter though seems to think that is the case and seems would like to host the GP on the same weekend as the Bergring grass track meeting in future, beyond 2020 https://www.nordkurier.de/sportnachrichten/bergring-arena-erhaelt-guetesiegel-vom-motorsport-weltverband-0436631909.html?fbclid=IwAR2ZrSwu-ua9oUF3i4LSjWUbqrzN7joK61Hg7oMnHn42-Ik8Z-fVpxWcuh4
  5. Think you do sometimes let yourself down on these topics Sid. You don’t rate Tai because he doesn’t back the country in your opinion. Gustix it seems doesn’t rate him because of his appearance among other things. But they are prejudices that cloud your(his) view. Let me start by saying I am a big big fan of PC. I was lucky to start going regularly just as he was bursting on the scene. He was a magnificent rider even at Plough Lane. I’d also say I haven’t really taken to Tai in the same way. He isn’t a big favourite of mine. But you compare the achievements and I find it impossible to come to any other conclusion than Tai is the better rider. He comes up against the best riders in the world on various tracks and can beat them regularly All the stuff about British Finals and Team GB are a smoke screen. We have no way of knowing which riders from the 70s would do the same given today’s situation
  6. Young Squire get a trial at Wembley
  7. That's also a moot point. New Malden only became part of South London in 1965,long after Split was born and after his speedway career had finished
  8. Not sure his couple of months at Plough Lane makes him a club legend. He shone elsewhere in his career
  9. Sad to hear. Did a national paper run an obituary or would it more likely be in the next few days ?
  10. Certainly think the likes of Crump, Gollob, Nicki, Emil, Woffinden and of course Hancock would be too riders in any era. Hancock has actually proved the point to a great extent by being a top rider in what could be called a few ‘eras’
  11. It is quite eye opening, looking back at 1950-51 to see how often Williams away from Wembley was fairly average.
  12. Guess Gustix got a copy then to help boost sales
  13. Some strange posts lately. Wondering why someone wants to check results from the past or why hold onto memories of the past
  14. Mickthemuppet did compare Williams and Craven. He said Freddie beat PC far more often. That was when I noted PC was 8 years younger and a rising star at the time. For me wrong to do that , and even more so if mick had mainly for instance seen their clashes at Wembley rather that Belle Vue. All distorts the impression
  15. See Dutch rider Bart Schaap has joined Celina Liebmann in the Inn Isar team

  17. A case could be made that he did win the 1946 British Riders Championship. Did qualify for a World Final before the war and was one of those that lost some of his peak years due to the war
  18. Photo of Ernie Hancock when he was Rye House team manager http://www.speedwayplus.com/RyeSnaps.shtml
  19. Bundesliga Final 2nd leg. Brokstedt v Landshut 03.10.2019
  20. Less is more, snowflakes !!! When Hamburg started in July of 1929 they managed to fit in over 60 meetings before they finished the season!!!! 30 meetings eh
  21. Think I explained myself quite clearly and find no need to clarify the point. Norbold understood, which seems to support my objective
  22. Doubt anyone knows what a company will sponsor. Fogo are a 'rapidly expanding company'....all sorts of strange things happen. Weren't Gorzow sponsored by an Austrian company, Strabag ? Don't think they have been involved in speedway in Austria. Same as german company Vailant having been involved in Danish speedway, but haven't noticed them involved in speedway in Germany...
  23. Tommy Miller, what a phenomenon. Think that was only his 2nd season racing speedway, when he beat Young ? In his first year he beat Jack Parker in a Scotland v England test getting an 18 pt max...
  24. To show some empathy with mick, I would say sometime actually seeing a rider clouds your judgement. In my case having seen Per Jonsson a couple of times when he was very average, it is hard for me to rate him that highly
