Premiership - Swindon v Leicester - 29-03-18
DunRobin replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As both would be re-arranged, then it goes down to 2nd priority 1st, which to me makes it Zach riding for Lakeside. As Lakeside do not own either Morris or Ellis, then it goes to 3rd priority, which makes it Ellis & Morris riding for the Robins. That's my interpretation of the rules but that remains to be seen. You never Know with speedway. -
See the BSPA have shown some sense at last. The starting rules have reverted to last season & riders can get off their bike to do their gardening. There was no sense in the rule as they still had to be under power & under the control of the start marshal within the 2 min's anyway.
-
Let's face it, SS would say the Aussie cricket team played by the rules if they were based in Poole. His glasses are so blue tinted, it's a wonder that he hasn't fallen off the quay at Poole because he can't see through them properly. Watch him at a speedway meeting, every decision that a referee makes against Poole is wrong.
-
I'm sure that just after the promoters conference, they posted about all GP riders having a 9 average & then amended it to say" GP riders without a previous UK average". That would explain Zagar being told he was a 9 early on. I would imagine that if any club wanted to bring him at some time in the season, his average would be his 2016 average. I would also think that most clubs would baulk at his wage demands.

Surley the 2 day rule only covers injured riders. As I see it by the rules, Poole's 1 - 7 now is the declared line-up. If Poole want to bring Holder back in, then it would have to be like for like or a re-declaration. There is no facility within the rules for a temporary 1 - 7, whether it is for visa issues or nor not.
-
It may be that they can stop it under this rule. 15.5 The Referee, alone, may stop a heat, following an incident or accident, by showing the "stop" Signal if in his/her opinion it would be dangerous to allow the heat to continue. They could consider "bunching" an incident that would be dangerous to continue the race.

An awful lot of footballers & managers do not know the rules. It has been the same for speedway also in many cases & even referees on some occasions, meetings where riders were not eligible to ride as guests & the BSPA have later altered the score to reflect the ineligibility. Mind you, it takes enormous concentration to read all the way through them. They seem to go on forever.

Poole the team that never do anything wrong. It's only the other league members that do. Seems to make sense to me to delay the Wolves/Poole meeting due the present conditions of the track & Wolves not being able to run the P & P day. Imagine if Wolves hadn't done it & Poole got turned over. There would be furore from the old blue tints. Why should we have to ride on a sub standard track? Everybody knows Holder's love of wet tracks.

True, any changes to the rules are highlighted in bold print. example shown below 15.2.6 Only if a rider is at the Starting Gate with sufficient time remaining of the 2-minute allowance, be permitted to prepare their Start area, provided they remain in full, personal control of their motorcycle, have the Cut-Out Lanyard attached, and remain astride their motorcycle facing the direction of racing

We were told that they are being stored in Newport. Are they doing a tour of South Wales.
-
I'm not Sherlock Holmes! How does one find a fictitious Storage facility?

At present the plans are for the track to be shortened, the new stand will go on the back straight & then the old stand will be demolished. However, I have serious doubts as to whether the new plans will be passed by the local authority. The letter from Barratt Homes has been very well written by their solicitors & lays it very firmly in the stadium's owner's responsibility to ensure that there is no noise nuisance from "greyhound racing, speedway & the car parks". It further go's on to say that the local authority needs to ensure that these terms are met or either present or future tenants will have good reason to complain.
-
Interesting new rule. 15.8.1 If the Referee stops a heat, following an incident or accident, where the rider causing the stoppage and his team partner were in third and fourth place and a re-run is called with one of those riders excluded, the Referee has the sole discretion to order that the remaining team partner will start on a 15 metre handicap in gate position c or d (the opposing team does not change positions). I guess this is an effort to stop riders staying down to get a rerun & gain an extra chance in the rerun.

I don't think slick necessarily means smooth, rather it means very little loose shail. It could still be rutted but with all the shail compressed, in although it is generally accepted that the Oak Tree has a good racing surface.
-
This the UK in 2018, 3rd world road surfaces.
-
He's tenant leaseholder at Torquay United but he's still trying to get houses built on the ground though. Local authority are blocking his plans at present. A man that needs watching & no complacency.
-
I can only hope that the Swindon Speedway Promotion have alternative plans for a new stadium site as I fear that the stadium as it is now is doomed. Having read the objections raised by Barrett Homes, it is clear that their solicitors have done their homework. They have not only raised objection to the speedway but also to the greyhound racing and car parking & noise emanating from all 3 due to the revised plans. They have made it clear that if the Borough Council do not take steps to alleviate these problems, that both present residents & future residents will have cause to take action against the stadium. It is my opinion that Stadium UK knew what they were doing all along. They changed the stadium location allegedly due to drainage problems, yet they still intend to build houses where the stadium was going to be re-located to. Does new housing not need drainage? Ask Torquay United FC supporters what they think of Stadium UK. They have plans to redevelop that ground since buying the football club & build houses on the site & move the football elsewhere. Unluckily for them though the local authority own the freehold of the ground & are at present refusing their attempt.
-
At the present time, the stadium is known as the "Believe It When You See It Stadium" . They say that they have changed it due to drainage problems but they still are going to build new houses where the new stadium was due to be built. Make what you will of that. I dearly would like to see speedway continue at Blunsdon but I'm not holding my breath. Their previous record with speedway stadiums & the ongoing dispute with regard to Torquay FC's ground says it all. Continually changing their plans there but at present Torquay council are accepting not their plans.

You wouldn't recognise good advice if you tripped over it.

Speedway was a lot stronger then. It's hanging on by it's shirt strings now. The AGM showed this with the stronger Championship sides not willing to risk the Premier league.
-
Nothing like Football. Football is booming at the highest level, Speedway is struggling at the highest level. If we had an unbalanced league, attendances would drop at the poorest sides & the league would fail, sides dropping out as they could not sustain the losses. We all know that you want Poole to win the league every season & don't care how it's achieved but if that were to happen, even Poole would fail as there would be no Speedway.
-
5 of the 2017 side are still riding. The Robins won most matches when Doyle was not riding & so that is not an issue. Batch will provide a more balanced team as both him & Morris are good team riders, whereas Doyle just looks after himself. It's probable that there will be a reserve change at some point but I'm happy with the Swindon line-up, whereas Poole are full of "maybes". Riders that do well in Poland are not always as successful over here. It depends very much on how well they adapt to the variety of tracks in the UK. The season will tell it's tale in October.
-
And when meeting Kurtz in heats last season, consistently beat him. Not conjecture - fact!
-
Remember Swindon carried a reserve for all of last season & they won the title. Wolves were not particularly strong at reserve & they contested the final. It's not all about the reserves any longer.
-
I reckon he's been eating too much ice cream & has got brain freeze. My monies' on Swindon to finish 1st or 2nd in the league. Injury permitting of course as that can be a big leveller in any season.
