  1. These Danish meetings do drag on. 1 hour in 3 heats. Jepsen Jensen big girls blouse. No wheelie tonight then. Karpov and BP owned him in that one and he had to cheat to get past BP. :) Should have taken his flowers home and watered them Gating tart Jensen.
  2. could you not make it an hour earlier as I have to go to the library to get a print off.
  3. He did do well but I hope that a half decent finish will not result in another wild card for him as there are far too many decent riders who deserve half the chances he has had. Ward, MJJ, Vaculik, G Laguta are just a few of those who deserve a chance to show what they can do. Bomber has used up all of his chances. The only Brit who deserves even consideration is Woffinden and he has too many riders in front of him. Britain does not deserve a rider in SGP unless we qualify.
  4. no surprise there then Basically pointless meeting as what will the result tell anyone other than our first team is not very good. Pretty much a wasted opportunity to give the young upandcoming riders a chance. Give Auty a chance and maybe Cook and Roynon. Then the exercise will not be just another meaningless challenge.
  5. I wasn't advocating Ben Barker for the GP Simply saying Harris is so dire GP wise that Barker deserved a chance before him. I like Harris but he is abject at the top level There is no way GB deserves a pick. Even Tai has not done enough to merit one. Of the picks available MJJ and Martin Vaculik are bankers and there will be plenty of others more deserving than one of our riders.
  6. It would be a waste if the line up of GB was filled with the usual suspects instead of a few young newcomers. Roynon and Cook deserve a chance and surely Auty. The Worrall's would also have been in contention. Perhaps the start of something useful for Team GB. Well done to Poole for maybe starting the ball rolling. Now we need test matches at both NL and PL level and the senior team to do as Chris Harris suggests and tour Poland,Sweden etc as well as some positive discrimination for GB riders here. Give our riders a chance to learn and maybe, just maybe we will do more than just make up the numbers in SWC.
  7. you look at things in black and white with rather tunnel vision towards a rider you like. I have no like or dislike for any of them and enjoy watching your lad a lot. Your comment about Vaculik is laughable as he has performed when it really mattered in SGP and your lad didn't. I say MBJ made a decisive contribution because he did a lot more than was expected and was a very important lynching of the Danish victory. I thought MJJ would have done better .....but he didn't. MJJ is a good rider but has a long way to go before he can be compared to great riders whom you seem to disrespect here as in your Gollob comments. Vaculik is no more over rated than a certain Danish rider I hear a lot of here but in ONE crucial regard he is head and shoulders above THAT particular rider. Will that balanced be addressed next year. We will have to wait and see as surely both of them will be part of the SGP. You make a good point as he did look rather forlorn when they showed him alone with his bike at the end. But he may well prove his doubters wrong once more just as a matter of pride. I don't think we have seen the last of Mr G just yet.
  8. Couple of decent matches. I think the rumours about the demise of Gollob will prove to be premature The old guard is not finished yet and Hancock will most likely prove that point by October. The young guns are surely soon to have their day of which of course MJJ is one but he is not as good as some people talk and there are riders such as Vaculik who has actually 'done' rather than 'talk' or be 'talked up' by winning his debut GP well. Also Zmarzlik took a rostrum place when given his chance. MJJ was mediocre when given his earlier this year. And whilst Jensens did their part in the recent SWC I would argue that the decisive contribution was by MB rather than MJ. A lot of those young guns were on TV yesterday and did pretty well. Which one will make the mark on SGP remains to be seen. I still favour Emil to be the first to stand on the top podium. ##I had to laugh during the Gorzow match as the TV people did not dare do their usual trick with the start girls. They must have feared being arrested It was a hot day in Gorzow and not only due to the weather
  9. Bit of controversy even in this bit of silliness Just looked to see who won and found out it was me. The other fella knew the rules but could not resist tinkering even as by his own admission he was doing wrong. Shame as he would have won. But his own fault. I just put my predictions here and forgot about it as it was just a bit of silly fun. Some people take things too seriously.
  10. any Russian action on this thursday?
  11. a perfect opportunity to compare the commentary styles of coolsport and sky. I like Pearson and Tatters who are passionate loonies that get excited about the sport. The bloke on coolsport never shuts up and annoys the flip out of me. His style is a pretty dull monotone but it's his constant waffling on about sod all whenever anything is not happening on the track that annoys me He starts a sentence at 6pm and finishes it 2 hours later. The sky boys know when to just shut up and enjoy the race. Yes the coolsport bloke is very informative but never shuts the flip up and spends a lot of time stating the bleedin' obvious as if he is commentating for the blind
  12. Probably in the short term see if they can get a few decent riders to do a Rune Holta.
  13. This nonsense about the riders slowing down to lose points being somehow not in the spirit of the sport makes me laugh I may be a bit older than many here but can't believe that some of the other age challenged here don't remember a rider deliberately losing a place to either stop a team using the old tac sub rule or brining them six down to benefit from the tac sub rule. I have seen that happen many times over the last 40 odd years both with teams I was supporting and the opposition. It's as old as the hills and an 'accepted' tactic under the old tac sub rule. Hell it happens here nowadays in British speedway and I have seen a rider deliberately lose to allow or prevent the stupid double point option we have here. So why there is the fuss about Nicki doing it then everybody doing it in heat 17 frankly eludes me. True the joker rule needs tweaking. My first action would be to call it something else and get rid of those silly cards. Also having it in the last 4 heats is something I don't agree with under this new format. Making it between heats 1 - 16 and for 8 points down is a better idea as teams already have the 6 points down tac sub option. Rules get 'abused' by everybody and the joker is one such rule that is open to 'abuse'. What Nicki did was perfectly within the framework of speedway and the furore here is probably aimed at him as a rider more than some outrage towards the purity of the sport. If the team 'you' supported did that it would probably have been OK. Which it actually was. A sensible tactic by Nicki to prevent the opposition benefiting from a tactical option. The Joker has provided some tremendous excitement this year so has done it's job well. But now maybe it's time to bid it farewell and change the rule a little to make it a bit fairer to a team like Denmark who never had a chance to use one. ##obviously more than me have good memories about this kind of thing as the above post showed.
  14. Best team won. Would those whining about Russia and the joker have claimed the Aussies were not the best team had they won :) Russia did wonderful to get 3rd after a crap start. What could have happened if they could have gotten a grip early on. A qualifier or even finals in Russia would be something to see at somewhere like Togliatti. Denmark's kids were awesome. Mikkel B was MOM for me. Heat 17 was pure comedy and they need to do as NKI said not allow jokers in the last 4 heats. But whatever you think about the joker it created a hell of an exciting finish. It has been an awesome world cup week. Great excitement. Super TV coverage. Pity about the crowds. Well done to all the teams and the riders for a memorable week of speedway and everybody went home healthy.
  15. Nicki did the right thing for his team. If the Aussies have a problem with that....tough Great bit of team riding by Nicki.
  16. From Dakarna website. Looks good to go! TEAM WORLD CUP FINAL TODAY! Today it's time for Team World Cup final at G & B Arena in MÃ¥lilla. Many wonder about the weather, but according to all forecasts, there will be no danger to the race tonight. We welcomes all, ticket sales and party area is now opening at 14.00
  17. I download your card for SWC and took a meeting to get used to the gate positions in your new format but don't find any problem now I have gotten it in my mind. But must admit I use the red, blue, white, yellow for league racing and am not that concerned as to what gate people are in. So in answer to your question I don't really mind
  18. It's their own fault for holding this in the summer or maybe God is angry at Sweden for something he is certainly p#ssed off with us.
  19. oops my mistake I am gonna go for Russia as I will be shouting for them anyways and all 4 Jokers to be used to the max as hopefully it will be that exciting Sweden 31 Andreas Jonsson 12 Fredrik Lindgren 10 Thomas H Jonasson 6 Peter Ljung 3 Denmark 34 Nicki Pedersen 13 Michael Jepsen Jensen 10 Niels-Kristain Iversen 9 Leon Madsen 2 AUSTRALIA 31 Chris Holder 11 Jason Crump 9 Troy Batchelor 7 Davey Watt 4 RUSSIA 36 Emil Sayfutdinov 15 Grigory Laguta 8 Artem Laguta 7 Roman Povazhny 6 seems a bit daft having to predict riders who won't be there but hey it's not my idea
  20. The mechanical side is indeed our Achilles heel but did not know Scott could not be bothered to bring his best equipment. That is wrong and if that is his attitude we should say thanks for all your efforts in the past but next time we will be pursuing other options but you. We need 4 guys who are like Woffy and Harris. maybe not the best but give their all. No good blaming Middlo as it was irrelevant anyway what he did as we were out. Maybe it's time to have a management team with all aspects from diet, mechanical, fitness, psychology/motivation and strategy. Also we need our young lads to be given opportunity at all levels within the GB set up. Instead of useless challenges have test matches at the start of the season. Buying Newport would have been a good start but the BSPA is full of too much self interest. Learning from the Polish, Danish and Swedish race formats would be a good idea too as our league racing would not be harmed by a rethink. It's bloody sad that Ritchie Worrall is out of the under 21's as that would have been a good learning experience for him. Sadly even when the SWC is here and we get to the final we will still struggle to get on the rostrum unless someone in authority takes notice of oir failings and does something.
  21. Danes look favourites after that display yesterday but I will be supporting Emil and co. A rostrum place will be a a good result but I hope they win
  22. We won't ever see riders coming through the system until we reorganise our league system to give them opportunities at all levels instead of doing it for everybody else. Auty, Roynon and co will never be that level unless they first make the grade at the top (albeit weak) level here and then abroad like MJJ, Zmarzlik, Dudek and a host of other foreigners have done.
  23. Danes were pretty damn good. If they get Leon going then they will have a great chance on Saturday. Poland gave them a scare. Woffy was good and Chris OK but we were a disappointment bordering on poor with Scott and Danny. We achieved our limit but would have been nice to see us do better What a hell of a final we have for Saturday. I will be supporting the Russians who I think have an outside chance as clear outsiders with three very strong sides with little to choose from them. My heart says Russia as I love watching them but my head says Denmark if they sort out their 4th slot. Good meeting. Enjoyed it but could not match up to the qualifiers as they were sublime entertainment.
