But I don't give a monkeys either as I have said on here somewhere that we should not pander to SGP or Polish/Swedish league, not worry about the so called top riders racing here and should race both leagues on weekends if we choose and give OUR riders the 6/7 spots rather than useless foreign riders and do all we can to provide a decent living for OUR riders and base the league system around riders who want to race in the British set up (UK or foreign) and let those who want to race in Poland or Sweden do just that. But the fact still remains our riders don't deserve any consideration in the SGP and the sport here DOES need a world champion and a competetive SWC team. It's foolish to argue otherwise but then that won't stop people doing it

There is a difference between 'knocking our own' and accepting reality. I don't think most people are 'knocking' the Brit lads. I know I am not as I wanna see one of them WIN today! But we all know that won't happen. Whether because of mental attitude, preperation or the standard of equipment the Brits are way behind. I think Greg hancock made a good point about how most of the top foreign riders had to travel to places like the UK to gain the experience they neede to excel. The Yanks and Aussies especially and now the Russians had to travel great distances and learn to depend on themselves whereas many UK riders probably don't have that ethic. Of course riders like PC, Lee, Havvy, Mark Loram and even old Taters managed to reach the pinnacle of the sport (OK Taters was longtrack) so it's not all cut and dried. We have some gifted speedway riders but lack many of the attributes that people like Crump, Gollob, Hancock have. We simply do not deserve to be considered above many better Scandanavian and even Eastern European riders. As long as the likes of Harris KNOW he will always get a pick then why should he go that extra mile to try and qualify? Speedway wise the rest of the world laugh at us because we have a poor top league system, seem to have little or no interest in nurturing what talent we have, dilapedated stadia and dilapadated ideas from those in charge. They probably laugh at the pitiful tactical double rule as well. But then who doesn't!

NO! None of the Brits deserve a place and it might do us good to realise we are a very minor speedway nation with ambitions way higher than our capabilities. We have no riders who are even capable in probably (barring us finding a wunderkid) the next 10 years of challenging for a SWC or SGP top spot. I like 'Tia', Scotty and Bomber but our top 3 are just not up there with the top boys. Let them qualify if they are any good and at least get there on merit instead of these pathetic pity picks we get due to us having the best supported GP and Sky. Far too many others deserving of getting a chance to show what they can do before our lot.

Obviously I meant if he had to go to a pick. Liverpool had the same problem with the European Cup so it's not just speedway. But the fact that a top man in the SGP series does not know what is going on has to be something that should be looked at as well. The rule is not something that can be 'read' by an individual as it is unequivocal and states clearly what is and what is not. And what you say cannot happen as the rule clearly states it can't theoretically or otherwise. If a riders points are not counted in qualification for next year then they are obviously null and void in the final table so Vaculik finishes 1st and he would not 'be crowned World Champion' as his points don't count. Of course the sport would look stupid but what's new there. The obvious answer is rotate any substitute riders when injuries occur so riders cannot accrue enough points to cause any embarrassments. You have exposed a can of worms with one innocent email and it seems that you still do not 'understand' the rule which for speedway is unusually concise and simple.

Seems like you have highlighted another reason why our sport is considered a joke by so many sports fans. One of the guy's in charge of the SGP and one of those involved in the premier (ie only) speedway magazine in the UK don't have a clue about the rules of the world's premier speedway competition. This is disturbing beyond belief. I have never read the SGP rule book but never thought for ONE moment that Vaculik could qualify even if he did get in the top 8. If those in charge and those charged with reporting on it don't know what they are talking about then what hope is there for speedway :)

http://kanalsport.dk/programoversigt keep checking here as it has the TV schedule

Let's hope it's better than yesterday's Polish borefest. Not sure who I want to get the final slot I like Greg Laguta but it would be cool to see Chris Harris involved.

the bloke doing the score caption seems off his t*ts on something I don't think ONE of the captions has been an ACTUAL speedway score

Anyone who qualifies deserves their place. Surely that is the point of having a qualification system. If Pavlic gets in on the track in his backyard then he deserves his place as he got it through a qualifier. Harris and the Brit question is different as Chris usually whines himself a place and frankly it's time it stopped for our little island nation. We have no riders capable of challenging for an SGP title and we are probably so far behind the rest we will have landed on Mars before we find one. If we keep getting these pity picks then we will never find the will to try and even deserve a place in the series. The cold hard truth is Britain is a speedway backwater and there are plenty of nations producing top class riders than us. We have no riders on the horizon that will progress to the Polish, Swedish, Danish or any of the other top European leagues. Our riders cannot make the sport pay here let alone over there. Look at Steady he is a part time speedway rider and one of our top lads. How are people like Auty and Cook going to make that step up? Mostly they will level out at PL heat leader and maybe bit player in the EL. Our top man (prospect wise) learned the ropes in Australia. Where are the riders of his caliber learning their trade here? A big fuss was made about the 'quality' of the British Final. How many of that lot ride in the top leagues. Even the British Champion only rides in division one in Poland. We need to be absent from SGP just to wake us up a bit as to how far we have fallen this last 20/30 years. Only then might we attempt to do something about it.

Vaculik has proved his credentials so deserves a place by whatever route. Ward should be offered a spot however many Aussies there are. There are plenty of riders who have not had a chance before any Brit as we don't have any that deserve a pick. If Woffy wants to be in it he should get in the top 3 of the challenge. If Harris gets a pick then the whole SGP is a farce as he deserves nothing and has had more than enough chances and I like the guy. Chuck MJJ in and see what happens. Put Greg Laguta in. Stick one of the Ukranians in. None of them could do any worse than Harris or Ljung. And NKI is one of the best riders in any league of 2012 so why should he not get a pick. In the end it will all depend on what Poland does and we will likely as not end up with the same 16 we had this year

Team Gb V Team Australia Test Match - 1st August 2012.
pandorum replied to Bomo1's topic in International World of Speedway
I am sure Middlo learned a LOT from last night. Such as the fact that we are so far behind the rest of the top nations that our chances of winning the SWC in the next 10 years are probably less than zero. Good chance for the newcomers to shine but only Cook did about OK. But he did better than some of our so called top men. It would be a useful exercise if it was followed up by further matches here and abroad but it won't so anything gained by it will soon be squandered. Woffy is no wimp but it shows how far we have fallen when our top prospect deems the one and only 'Test match' for Team GB in 2012 to be less valuable than an outing in Sweden. I don't blame him as such as Sweden is a good earner for him whilst last night probably wasn't and he is carrying an injury. But it is disappointing all the same. -

Bit of a shame as meetings like this are designed with him in mind. But that probably explains why we are so poor and it's not all down to Woffy's attitude. At least we will give a few young guns a chance to show what they can do. Woffy's loss is someone like Cook's gain. -
:) we have enough problems producing decent riders for us to worry about their morals. your girly boy does not have the moral backbone to keep his language down when interviewed and he does alright. Except for last night when he was owned by Anrey karpov and Bjarne Pedersen TWICE on his home track :) Sad to say the best rider won on the night and once again a complete waste of a wild card for Cardiff. Woffinden is the best prospect we have but non of the Brits deserve to be in SGP next year. We have a few decent prospects but they will never make the grade as for them racing in Poland or Sweden is beyond them cost wise so most will never rise above the PL level or reserve level in EL on a doubling up basis. Sponsorship is hard to get here and without a decent set of sponsors most of what we have coming up the ranks will stall at PL heat leader level. Ritchie Worrall had a good opportunity with the world U21 but luck dealt him some lousy cards and he is not likely to manage that again. We are at least 10 years away from having anyone that can challenge in SGP or SWC and that is if we act now and try to fast track some young riders up to EL level. Mear is brave to give it a try but I don't see him in the mix anytime soon. We all know what our problems are and pretty much have an idea how to redress it but money is the key and there is not the money here in the sport. PL and EL Promoters could help by wasting time on Brit youngsters at 6 and 7 instead of wasting time on useless foreign riders. When everything is taken into account the simple truth is we don't deserve to be in SGP and our seeded status at SWC level is probably not deserved either. Our speedway has gone backwards now for nearly 30 years and the current economic climate is doing it no favours any more than the weather. A complete overhaul of the so called Elite League is needed with the emphasis on BRITISH riders rather than everyone else's riders. Will that happen? Of course it won't.

Some great talent on the track tonight. Unfortunately they were holding the starting cards. It was an OK meeting but the line up was pretty poor. The young lads from the PL did well. Cookie, Roynon and even Tom Perry showed he was one to watch. The final was predictable but fair play to Scott he deserved his win. It will now be a battle at Cardiff to see who can outscore Peter Ljung. Glad to see Mear was not badly injured but he was a bit daft to ride after that. There are some lads like Mear who deserve a chance to be part of a GB set up.

We here have the same problem with Chris Harris
-
owned for the 2nd time by Andy and Bjarne. So much so they could have stopped, swapped bikes and still beat the over rated MJJ. :)

They should have cancelled the meeting until it was smoothed out. Very inconsiderate. Now it's pouring down. They did not take this long for the whole SWC.
