I forgot about my Sunday fix so get to see these before I set off on my musical fortnight. Neil Young tomorrow in Newcastle and then Iron Maiden in Frankfurt and Berlin finishing off with my mates who have a Doors tribute band at the Half Moon in Putney. Hopefully my fave Russians will be in good form and will Przedpelski carry on with a good performance after last weeks heroics.

International Best Pairs - 8th June (eurosport)
pandorum replied to mdmc82's topic in International World of Speedway
Doubt this will ever get any official sanction as a world pairs final but plenty of options for an international competition. the Czechs are a waste of time but they have UK, Latvia or Ukraine who could add competetive pairs. Hopefully it continues as a TV competition as it was good to watch. -
SKY once covered a WTC meeting that was delayed by rain for 3 or 4 hours and just showed speedway reruns and talked about speedway. Eurosport dumped a scheduled speedway presentation to cover some really dull tennis match. When it started the coverage was very good but the commentary was amateurish at best. Scotty is a good race anaylser but is no Kel Tatum. The bloke who did the Nige bit was bloody awful. He also shouted at various points in his commentary but I doubt the anti Pearson dullards will make much capital out of that. The bloke knew very little about what he was commentating on whereas Nige is a long time fan and knows a hell of a lot. Scott v Kel? No contest Kel dances it. Yes Scott did great at Cardiff and that niche is perfect for him but keep him out of the commentary box. Jan Staechman made himself look an idiot when he asked the 2nd team manager on two occasions what gates they wanted. They having the choice of the two left after the first two were picked or just packing up and going home. Eurosport covering EL? Big ask for them. Did they provide anything for this pairs event or was it the Poles? A lot of outlay would be required. I think once SKY dump speedway next year league racing here is finished on TV for the foreseeable future and considering how awful EL telivised meetings have been for the last couple of years that may well be a blessing in disguise for the sport here.

Well done the Poles. Still got to be favourites for the WTC. Russia were great at first but have work to do for the WTC. Jepsen Jensen actually rode quite well but was never going to get the Danes into the final. Very nice coverage but the commentary team was poor. Scott is great in a backstage role but is no Kelvin. And that other bloke was as dull as dishwater and shouted a lot as well but I bet the dullards that whine about Nige don't mention that. And is Jan Staechman simple. Why ask the 2nd team managers what gates they will take when they had the choice of either take the two left after the first ones had gone or just go home. Exciting meeting all the same. I have always like pairs racing. -

I have just had a nice relaxing hour of Iron Maiden waiting for this to get started. The sport was run better when SKY covered it  -

Yeah you said that last time and he looked exceedingly ordinary managing one half decent win against Gollob and a reasonable 2nd ahead of Adrian and 4 races where he looked anything but a class act and was wiped out by Torun's top riders. -

You said that last time and he got a just about respectable 11 from 6 rides but was totally owned by Chris and Adrian. Cruel but true. Once he fails to qualify he can begin his whining campaign to see if he can get in that way -

Russia have the strongest looking line up. A nice taster for the WTC. Go Russia Pity we have no representitives but when lunatics take over the asylum what else can one expect. -
I had never heard of football until someone told me of it's existence and explained it to me. I used to enjoy it a lot but now find it quite boring since they changed the rules out of all proportion to what I used to see and now never watch it as it's gone from a hard contact sport played by men to a totally non contact sport played by millionaire pansies. It's not just speedway that has silly rules. My point is that speedway needs someone to actually 'promote' the sport and new converts will be found. It would help is those in charge ensured that tracks were properly prepared and conducive to racing. Speedway is one of the most exciting motor sports it just needs everyone on board commited to promoting a good product. Instead we have a bunch of self centred vindictive imbiciles who are too stupid to see that what they do is driving their own hardcore away. It does not really matter what 'outsiders' think when those who love the sport are being driven away by the cretins who are supposed to be in charge. Speedway may not be a dead sport yet but it's doing it's level best to get there here in the UK.

Mine has gone great now so that seems proof that Alan was interfering with my stream. If this was the EL section that would probably have led to a diplomatic incident. You make an excellent point Paul as the international section is always good natured and the racing far superior to the dross on SKY. I don't even bother looking for a stream for EL now as even free it's not worth it Surely a rider like Cook or Auty could add to this excellent league. Jesper B really needs to retire The options for an upandcoming Brit surely there for all to see. Where is the ambition of our young riders. That young lad who rides in the German league seems to be the only young Brit who actually has any genuine ambition.
-
I'm a Brit mate although being a Liverpool supporter makes me slightly alien nowadays The stream is perfect now as they are just talking but I bet as soon as #10 starts it freezes Unusual as we have had two pretty ordinary meetings from Denmark this week. They are normally quite exciting affairs I think we are missing the Ukrainians.
-
My stream is really poor. Keeps freezing when the racing is on and is fine in between Mads must be the one who is nearly getting excited about the racing as opposed to the usual reading the back of a washing up liquid bottle style we are usually used to. They just gave the riders scores and Slangerup now have 14 instead of the 13 they had after heat 6
-
Excellent meeting. Look forward to Poland and Denmark and the pairs as will have 2 weeks off the TV matches while I go see Iron Maiden in Germany next week
-
Good meeting. Lindback's first two races were excellent. Emil seems a little subdued Good crowd. Makes you laugh when the crowds at the TV meet in England could barely fill a double decker bus. Swedes doing something right. Possibly entertainment which is something England seems to have forgotten
-
I see that they are giving chances to Polish 1st division guys like Trojanowski and Pieszczek so why don't our so called upandcoming riders try to get opportunities in this league? There seems to be a severe lack of ambition with our crowd that the rest don't have. The likes of Cook, Auty and company are far better than some of the foreign rubbish that rides in Denmark but are conspicuous by their absence. Denmark top league is a nice little setup with a good format designed to allow upandcoming riders a chance to develop so where the Hell is the Brit talent?
-
The Bjerre's have been complete toss tonight. If they are riding for Outrup next week I will be amazed.
-
Can Kenny Bjerre add to his magnificent paid max yesterday against nobody by beating Fjelsted reserves? If I was a paying customer at Outrup I would be hoping today would be the last I saw of the pair of green nitwits.
-
What the hell happened in heat 7? Dyer touches tapes gets 15 yd H/C then allowed to tapes. Falls on his arce and gets a point. Is the ref someone who does not like the Bjerres? Never mind CoCo the clown his brother BeBo is riding in the other green suit
-
After the last couple of weeks I think I will pass on that one British speedway has not got a clue how to showcase it's best asset. TV coverage. The Danish matches are usually quite exciting affairs very rarely do we see a mismatch like today. British speedway seem to actually seek a mismatch and when we get a good fixture produce a ploughed field to suck any excitement from the meeting. Seen two good Polish matches and a good GP so will wait for tomorrow and wednesday for my next fix. Hopefully this one will improve as the stream is beautiful
-
Probably be better asking the girls to have a go. Can't see the Bjerre's lasting with these performances. Didn't they get sacked last year? Lasse Bjerre could not make it tonight and has been replaced by CoCo The Clown
-
They have run out of chalk now What is this? Carry On Speedway The lack of commentary is unnerving
-
Women and leggings is a fashion faux pas. Not to mention these start girls lack co-ordination as well as fashion sense. Could that be the reason for the fall? Not a good start to the meeting
-
Just a suggestion mate but could you leave a blank 6th space on your Danish team section, as you do with the Swedish meetings, just in case of a late change? Looking forward to seeing Micky Dyer. Just a pity he was not born here and could have been our new Tai Woffinden
