World Cup Race Off - 18th July 2013
pandorum replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Mad! But that's what they said about Columbus when he said the world was round. Probably due to the fact this had been comon knowledge for several hundred years Maybe people will talk about you in hushed tones in years to come or probably three out of the four will let us down miserably and we will struggle to finish ahead of Latvia That is the beauty of talking about something that has not happened yet. We never know until we know -

Swc, Event Two, King's Lynn 15/7
pandorum replied to Northern Exile's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well you did and you didn't you clearly said the Lagutas were drumming up excuses not to ride in the meeting and Emil was drumming up a medical certificate. You made a nudge nudge insinuation. Why would he have had to secure a 'dubious' medical certificate when he had a broken foot? So you are now saying the Laguta's secured dubious medical certificates but it was announced on July 7th on Polish TV that they were not riding in protest at the lack of funding. Seems a bit insane when everybody knew they were not riding and the reason for it. Did Scott Nicholls have to get one to commentate for Eurosport? Because he did the same as the Laguta's and was not in the England team. So What? I once bought a watch in George at ASDA! -

So what EXCUSE did the Laguta brothers 'drum up' NOT to be in the Russian team? You're not suggesting that Emil's current injury is a hoax but are implying he drummed up a medical certificate for his broken foot. -

To be honest anyone here could have gotten England a second place in that line up. Yes England have a chance on Thursday. Doubt that the replacements will be that effective but one never knows. The US have 4th written all over them they were awful last night apart from Hancock. I think Latvia can put enough points together for 3rd. OZ are favourites but we might give them a match. Of course they would find it hard to get top league berths in Poland and Sweden but there are other leagues in those countries where experience could be gained. Denmark is another league these boys should be trying out for. Young Aussies like Dyer are there. -

Not Eddies fault for crying out loud. No need to single him out. We have a poor team and zero chance of making the final in a very poor play off. We were never gonna win this one The US were lamentable and even with Hancock will have a job on to finish 3rd. The thing that is most telling is that 2 of the top speedway nations may well have to qualify next year which is a joke. The Czechs will be gifted a 4th seed they don't deserve and either the Yanks or Latvia will get a seed for next year which is another joke. What a farce -

To be fair to Middlo he is not exactly blessed with choices. Only Bomber and Woffy can compete with the calibre of rider it takes to win a SWC. Probably best to give 2 young lads a chance. Worrall? Cook? Barker? Bridger? -

Serves him right. Wonder what Eddie's punishment will be Meeting quite poor really and what difference Nigel does it make WHEN the US play the Joker? Obviously that answers my question about the US Joker. What a silly rule -

Exactly MJJ is the weak link for Denmark. They may have to bring somone in for the final What crime did Scott commit to have to listen to that babbling idiot. Surely one of the PG Chimps could have been brought in by Eurosport as a race analyser -

If your man was as good as Kenny Bjerre he would have coped with it -
One thing that has to be mentioned is that Team GB had more chance of winning SWC on SKY.

Brits Not Supporting Team Gb
pandorum replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am English and could not give a rats arce about Wales, Scotland or Ireland. I feel no real need to show how proud I am of being from where I am from, especially not with some impossible mathematic figure, and leave such nonsense to Americans. Would I like the Brit lads to win the WTC? Of Course. Will they? Not a chance in hell. I wanted the Russians to win as I like them. Will I be supporting GB from my computer chair this evening? Of Course. I always do. The country has not gone to pot in the slightest. People cheer for their favourites. I feel no pride at some cricketers that won some daft cricket match as I don't like cricket and could not care less about some scotch bloke who won a tennis match. I don't give a crap about our stupid national anthem and the bunch of worthless parasites it kisses the arces of. Does that make me less English than someone who backs the speedway team '100 million percent'? Of course it doesn't. We English don't feel the need to show how patriotic we are.............. except of course those who do. Which sums us up rather well. -
There is no 'probably' about it but credit where it is due they gave a good account of themselves as did the Russian substitute team. Makes you wonder what benefit SWC gets from Monster who were supposed to be going to bring some great presentation to SWC which was self evidently lacking when you look at the size of the crowd in Poland. A bunch of not that great looking women holding a board with a number on and some free energy drinks aside not a lot

Why Seed Hosts Direct To Final?
pandorum replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's easy to see why the idea sounded good to those in charge but sadly the final will possibly throw up a scenario where the home team can't even manage double figures or even (and it's a remote possibility but still possible considering the weakness of the home team) fail to register a point. The SGP is caught between a rock and a hard place trying to involve more countries and it's damned both ways. One would have thought the involvement with Monster might by now have been bearing fruit but looking at the non crowd for the first leg in speedways strongest country it seems it hasn't. It will be interesting to see what sort of crowd we see tonight and then in Prague for the play off. Whether the Czechs being seeded will ensure a good Final crowd remains to be seen. The SWC needs money rather than free energy drinks. -

Heat 1. Bomber to surprise everyone and actually gate And the dangerous thing about predicting great things for riders is that you look an incredible arce when they let you down -
Not so much moaning as comparing SKY with Eurosport. Some here seem to think Europsport are actually doing something with regards the coverage, which is exactly the same as SKY, and congratulating them. Others seem to be of the opinion that having a panel of ex world champions and other knowledgeable riders is not nearly as good as having a know nothing idiot babble insanely about things he hasn't a clue about. Europsport deserve some praise for the utilisation of Scott and his missus but otherwise they have not been a patch on SKY who are a totally proffessionally run TV company whereas Eurosport are like channel 5. SKY's coverage of WTC and SGP was much better than Eurosport. Whether we should praise Jebus that we still have speedway GP is irrelevant. The TV coverage provided by Eurosport is not as good as SKY. The weekends SWC coverage shows just how much SKY will be missed. SKY always made room for live coverage if the meeting was rained off. True they have more channels but the point still stands. SKY once waited for over 4 hours for the track to improve during one SWC meet in Poland and filled in with speedway content.

Now this is interesting. All those who worship at the 'Eurosport is better than SKY' altar should remember that SKY once waited for 4 hours or more for a waterlogged Polish track to be deemed fit that same evening filling in with discussion from it's knowledgable panel and old speedway clips. Also several times SKY has rescheduled for live coverage of rained off meetings in SWC the next day. Eurosport would rather show 'volleyball'......... a sport I for one don't even know what it actually is other than it obviously has a 'ball' Of course 2 hours late is better than not at all but it shows perfectly why SKY was much better than the amateurishly run speedway show Eurosport peddle.
