I will see what I can do. I would like to see Woffy in the GP and the SEC meeting but train does not have wifi but our hotels do. Of course sightseeing is the thing and lots of that to do. New York, washington, Chicago, Frisco, LA and San Antonio in 19 days by train ## and of course Iron Maiden This is a good meeting and so was last weeks. Nice to see that in the intervals.

That's the nature of the game but at least THEY would be worth missing whereas a lot of the foreign riders we waste such a lot of money on certainly won't be. Some would hopefully graduate to the top leagues abroad but that does not mean they would all naff off as hopefully they would also ride here. Developing home grown talent does not mean it HAS to leave the nest just because it is too good for the rest as surely the idea would be to cultivate a strong league here. In the end it would all boil down to money and if we could not afford these new stars then they would go to where they can afford them. And if they were Brits good luck to them

Very, very good point.

Rider Size, How Much Does It Matter?
pandorum replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Arthur Browning was a big lad and he did alright he was about 8 foot tall with legs that could extend an extra couple of foot when he went into the bends. He used to cover the inside with his extendable legs so nobody could go under him. So the answer to your question is yes. -
As TWK says promote British and build up new stars. You will have the excitement of watching these riders become more balanced and then top men. The old NL in the 70s did not have these over rated GP riders but attracted very good crowds and produced some of the best racing I ever saw. Who cares if the foreign merceneries desert the sinking ship. In general they only take from British speedway (with the few obvious exceptions) and give very little if anything back. Speedway is best when it's four laps and four commited riders of comparable ability and not Darcy Ward versus three PL standard riders. Insular is best for British speedway now it's wasted all it's money on flying foreign riders in and out for variable returns, frittered away decades of SKY coverage and lost most of it's spectators with awful tracks, poor racing and even poorer facilities and not very sensible prices. The sport needs to take a leaf out of the past and look to the future. Spend the cash left on developing a rider base that lives here and wants to race in British speedway. Don't waste it on Greg Hancock who is only here because his Polish team dumped him no matter what he said on SKY last night. Develop the facilities and spend money on speedways most important assett it's track surfaces and give the spectator something back for a change. The old adage 'when in a hole, stop digging' never more applied to Bristish speedway than it does now.

Poland Versus World Champions 12th October
pandorum replied to manchesterpaul's topic in International World of Speedway
If that's the line up I think Poland need strengthening. They should give young Pawel Przedpelski a chance to show what he can do. -
Danish Championship Finals 2013

I would say don't be f'ing ridiculous but you are anyway MJJ is not in the same universe as someone of the standing of Ole Olsen and frankly never will be. Nicki should have made a magnanimous gesture and let Bjerre keep his place as Nicki can't possibly win the title but Bjerre can. -
great rider. saw him at 16 and he looked decent then. Good luck to the lad in whatever he does

24th August 2013 Gp Challenge @ Poole
pandorum replied to Irk Deflector's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But did not Jurica once get exactly the same wild card as Chris by virtue of the fact his Dad owned the track? Of course it's unfair and of course it's stupid but don't blame Harris for the silly rules. He has benefitted the same as others before him and been given a 2nd bite of the cherry he did not deserve. Someone was going to take that spot and when it came to Harris he grabbed it. Blame the rule not the rider -
24th August 2013 Gp Challenge @ Poole

Of course it's silly that qualifier failures or non shows can be handed a 2nd chance due to being born somewhere but that is not the fault of the one who grabs that opportunity. If Bomber had qualified he would deserve his place just like the others who qualified by this route. However they came to be there. Of course he isn't good enough to be in the company of the SGP top riders and will, if he gets the chance, fail miserably once again. But it's not the lads fault he is now 1st reserve. (once Smolinski is promoted to the SGP full time). The system that helps the poorer speedway nations by virtue of allowing them a seed to this meeting now helped Bomber. He still believes he can be an assett to the GP. I don't think many will agree with him and to be brutal there are dozens that deserve to be there before him. But if he makes it fair play to him. He benefitted from the system. He isn't the first to do that and won't be the last. I will cheer him on if he gets in even though I know he should not be there. That folks is speedway. -
A brilliant strategy guarenteed to save the sport in 2014 or not as the case may be Sadly if the sport cannot afford these people in 2013 with SKY money as a comfort blanket how will they do it in 2014 without? The sport is internally bleeding itself to death flying people back and forwards for both EL and PL matches. It's time to try being insular and spend the cash on British riders and foreigners who commit to the UK leagues and base themselves here. Of course that will mean the likes of Jensen and Pedsersen and probably yes our own Woffinden will be absent but there is no evidence to suggest these people benefit the sport here compared to the outlay that is spent on them (Woffinden aside for the most obvious of reasons). Four guys of comparative ability riding hell for leather for four laps. That is speedway and glamourous names don't necessarily make that better. Watching Darcy Ward or Chris Holder half a lap ahead of the PL standard rider that make up the majority of the EL is hardly entertainment. Of course when they don't gate they provide a thrill when passing said PL standard riders. But the old NL back in the 70s provided shed loads of entertainment and found it's own stars. Maybe it's time to invest in British talent and develop British speedway. Maybe it's time to promote the sport for the good of all. The TV experience and the weatlth of benefits it could have brought has been frittered away by fools. Now the excrement will hit the fan next year when SKY are no longer there with that comfort blanket. Well balanced teams with UK and UK based riders of equal ability, a decent track and some half decent facilities. That's all the sport needs as a base to start rebuilding. Develop our own talent and harness the experience of world champions like Lee, Havalock, Loram and Tatum to help in that development. Promote the sport as a body rather than as individuals. Of course local promotion of tracks will always be there but spread the word Nationaly together. That's what Association means. Noun: A group of people organized for a joint purpose. Will any of that happen? Of course not. Promoters, and the term is used loosely, will try to paper over the cracks, tracks will dissapear, perhaps a new one will emerge and be hailed as justification of the BSPAs genius. Money will dissapear dragging in everybody elses talent and crowds will drop, prices go up and the same old record will play in 2014 as has been playing for years now.

Lot's of us fans had a pop at Tony and his commentries but still sad to see he has passed away. He made a lot of us laugh in his time and I remember him for that. He was for all his faults a one off. A total original who I am sure will be missed by friend and foe alike. RIP Tony.

So I made a typo and hit the 5 key instead of the 6 key. What a childish reply. And I never said I was good at maths although I actually am Simply stating that there was indeed passing at Togliatti.

#4 Laguta from 3rd #5 A Laguta passed Pedersen #9 Woffy passes Nicki #10 Andersen passed Pavlic #11 Gollob passes Magic #13 Gollob passed Emil #15 Woffy and Artem Laguta exchange passes. Woffy wins #18 Woffy goes from 4th to 2nd. Vaculik passes Lindgren #19 Belousov, Emil and Nicki all exchange passes. #21 Nicki passes Emil I am presuming you never were any good at math as there seems to be slightly more than one pass here. I dunno what speedway you watch but I never saw one meeting out of the couple of thousand I have seen that had passing EVERY race. Togliatti was a pretty normal speedway meeting with some decent racing a number of passes and an exciting finish. You have every right to say you did not enjoy the meeting but why make up stuff that did not happen?
