  1. racecard for tonight. Can't see anything but an away win. Hope I am wrong and we get a better match than that tripe last night Anyone know how Greg is doing? Yes the lad was lucky there it's one frightening speedway track even the home riders can't ride. And the less said about their idiot team manager the better
  2. I don't normally get involved here on the EL forum but after watching that last night. FIM accredited or not that is one of the most dangerous speedway tracks I have ever seen. How nobody got killed last night is a wonder in itself. And the fact it was deliberately built like that makes the whole thing even more disturbing. Just based on last night. Entertainment value very little if anything and rider safety probably even less. I have seen some crap speedway but rarely seen anything that bad. Great to see a nice close match with an large enthusiastic crowd in a purpose built stadium but speedway racing? There was none of that really just a series of near accidents when riders took advantage of other riders nearly twisting themselves in knots. Even the home team can't ride the place for heavens sake. If I had had that to watch each week I would probably be following golf.
  3. Well those in charge are so clever they have just lost one of their flagship tracks and have as much chance of winning the SWC as North Korea have. Mind they (north Korea not the BSPA) will probably announce they won it as they seem to be collecting world cups this year. Putting Garrity in would benefit Team GB more than putting any of the other 3 as he will learn from being included. What odds does it make. Put in 3 kids who learn from the experience even in defeat or 3 wastes of space who will just underperform and then make excuses or whine. I will be cheering team GB on of course but I would rather see 3 guys who were 'the future' than 3 guys who were not even that good to be called 'the past'.
  4. Damn good plan with only one real flaw. The SGP only allows 4 riders and no reserve
  5. Teething problems? He chose to build a track that is downright dangerous not only to the opposition but his own riders as well. He has a manager who slagged off his own team on live TV and fans who create threads to disparage the track. The only way anyone can pass is when someone in front loses control. I have seen every size and shape of speedway track but this one is uninteresting as far as racing and bloody dangerous for the riders. Why the hell did he choose to build the track in such a silly shape when he could easily have copied one of the better racing tracks. Sounds like the criticisms he gets he deserves as he is the one responsible for the mess. Sad really as for once we got a crowd and some noise at a live TV speedway meeting but sadly even free never mind 10 quid we did not get a scrap of speedway racing.
  6. 'fantastic speedway'?? Kelvin has gone insane. I am amazed someone has not ended up in hospital. It is awful.
  7. Glad I saw speedway at Blackbird Road as this place isn't the best. Also good to see MM OK. These kids are tough tonight.
  8. Yeah the track ain't great but at least there is a crowd and they make noise so they deserve credit for that. Nasty crash but that kid is a tough one. The other kid did well to lay down his bike. Nice to see youngsters involved in the 'top' league and hope they all learn something from it and good luck Leicester.
  9. You must be thinking of another board as I have been visiting the Polish section for years now and have never seen anyone say anything like that. It's better than our sad little league but still has tosspots in charge though probably not as many.
  10. Darcy's comments probably did not help He lost his passport????? Did he not use that excuse a couple of years back when he got into Polish trouble or was that someone else? Not much future as an international speedway rider if he can't even keep an eye on his passport. To be honest Rybnik will do better with North. Not much hope for UK speedway if this pillock and Harris are the kind of riders we offer there. Scotty and Woffy do us credit but those two clowns drag us down.
  11. I bet Italy are terrified of the prospect of meeting King, Harris and Stead The zero I predicted for them seems to be in doubt now. If that is the best we have, and it probably IS, we would have benefitted more by sticking 3 kids in there such as Garrity. Even if we crawl into the PO , which is not certain, what's the point of giving those 3 any track time? If we lose let some kid benefit from the experience rather than three deadbeats who have proven beyond any doubt they are not up to it. We are lucky Russia are in such a mess and we at least have Woffy who will have to carry those three passengers on his back for the entire meeting..
  12. Yeah I am looking forward to North Korea and Portugal. Should be a pretty decent Final.
  13. According to Darcy Ward all the fuss is associated with Troy Batchelor and Lewis Bridger "I was sure that I was completely sober." Don't wanna worry anyone but it looks like Bill Oddie is involved with the decision.
  14. according to Sportowefakty 17:51 - Decision on competition has not yet been made. apparently Darcy Ward is NOT drunk 17:33 - It's raining harder and harder. 17:30 - Study showed no alcohol in the exhaled air by an Australian. Unfortunately, in Gorzow still raining. 17:26 - Darcy Ward is tested for the presence of alcohol in the body.
  15. Think this is a Chris Harris........ ie a lost cause out of the three it would be A as Charlie would drive me to suicide. 'how important is it to get that coconut the sea turtle is running off with?'
  16. It's a fair opinion and one nobody can really argue with as it's your opinion not mine or the poster who first brought it up and therefore as valid as any. But when I was a kid back in the dark ages we had Bobby Moore, Henry Cooper, Muhammad Ali, Jim Morrison (before he was dead), Mick Jagger, Ivan Mauger, Briggo all alive and considered by many to be Living Legends. I agree with the first poster that it's a word that is used too much but surely every section of sport has it's legends living and dead. Politics, music of every genre, film, TV and many other areas of living have their legends many who are still alive or were before they died.
  17. That's taking the Pearson hating a bit far mate. So it's Nigel's fault that the word Legend is used too much The word celebrity has suffered a lot worse with any arce who has walked past a TV camera now referred to as one. Well exactly! It depends on your POV I can't abide the Beatles so would never give them credit for much as I think they were and are over rated crap. But I am sure there are people who would disagree and consider them Legends. But I don't! Is Hancock one? In speedway terms I would say yes! But respect the opinions of those who would say not as it's all a matter of taste. Hell in the speedway world Tony Millard and Kel and Nige are legends or not as the case may be But surely that is my business and not anyone here? Why I do stuff is none of your concern unless I choose to make it so. But that does not mean I don't know my speedway and am not a fan and therefore am entitled to write as long or short a post as takes my mood. I have travelled the length and breadth of the UK watching the sport and been to more than 50 odd tracks so does that not entitle me to an opinion here?
  18. Agree. The idea that Greg Hancock is a gating tart is too laughable for words. Just because he can gate does not mean that's all the weapons he has in his arsenal. Tai is a damn good gater does that mean he is a gating tart. Gating is an important art in speedway and good luck to those who master it. The meeting was hugely exciting from the vantage point of my leather computer chair so what it was like at trackside I can only imagine. There is more to the sport than passing and those who whine obviously can't appreciate a rider who can defend his line or the opposite put a rider under severe pressure but not manage to pass him. Gating is an art as too is team riding. Of course the haters will bring up 'first out the gate wins' but I can dismiss F1 in the same terms and sports such as cricket or golf in the same superficial way as all three bore me to death. A speedway race is a lot more than just who wins the bloody thing. Just as the meeting is not just 15 or 20 minutes of racing because if I had thought that I would never have watched as much speedway as I did. The SGP is the best idea this sport has ever had. And the idea the racing was better with a one off final just plain mad. I was at Wembley in 1981 and the racing was very unspectacular for the most part. But what a hell of a meeting to watch as the crowd was awesome and the battle between the top riders absorbing and exciting. If all you go for is passing then I for one feel sorry for you as the magical meetings people blather on about on this forum rarely, if at all, happened. I have seen thousands of speedway meeting and this one was reasonably typical. Of course there are tracks that buck that trend and have seen many a meet at those places but in general what we saw at Cardiff is what generally happens at a speedway meet. But what a Hell of an atmosphere and again an utterly absorbing contest that even Chris Harris managed to be part of. Well to be fair to SGP Emil and Tomasz declined to be involved which especially on Emil's part the most idiotic thing the lad has done as he is one of the best riders in the world. Harris and Batch poor substitutes but still the last GP proves that assessment to be slightly unfair and even Harris looked like a top speedway rider yesterday for a while. It really needs 3 Russians rather than 3 Swedes or 3 Danes as they have three of the top lads in the world but sadly Russian speedway is in a bigger mess than British so maybe we will never see that. Three Brits at Cardiff showed how far we have fallen. Cook was very poor in this company after a half decent first ride and it looks like our WTC hopes are set for a disappointment as a final place way beyond what we have. Chris did well by his low standards but once again showed he can't build on a good start and fell away once again at the death. Tai was magnificent and may well become the first Brit to ever win back to back World titles. That at least might shut the moaning Minnie's up for a week or two
  19. Fair comment but I doubt the world would miss the EL But why is it the sport here can't learn any lessons from Cardiff. Surely most of the promoters go to that and see what is done there. Is there nothing to be learned from something that excites speedway fans that could be taken and implemented in the lower tier? I doubt it as hotels take advantage of this kind of thing. Last weekend at Sonisphere the hotel I was in was charging £199 for a twin room but on the Monday after the festival ended wanted £75. They will always take advantage
  20. Great race and the old uns still have it in them. Congrats to Greg. Awesome stuff from Cardiff once again. Pity our rubbish tip speedway could not learn a bit from this
