There are other teams involved as well as Poole. Ward has let them down too. The idiot deserves all he gets but it's a shame his teams may suffer as well.

If that is true then speedway is a joke............. oops sorry forgot myself there for a second Having read what's below that is quite sensible. So Ward not off the hook yet. He needs to be taught a very severe lesson and not just HIM!

Just caught up with this on the Polish catch up site. Nicki was well owned and it looks like Emil will be SEC champion unless he throws it all away. Nice to see Bogdanov do well. He rides in Denmark so at least knows the tracks. Good also to see Pavlic show some spirit. The SEC is certainly a success after 2 years with the new format and hopefully see Woffy back in next year. -
Exactly. Look at Homer Simpson. He nearly blew up Springfield and he was promoted for saving them from a disaster he caused. 'Eenie minie miney moe'

If Ward gets off scot free than speedway will look a joke to the rest of the world. Oh sorry about that my fingers just went haywire for a second. I forgot speedway already is a joke to the rest of the world. ## Note to self speedway and joke in same sentence is NOT an oxymoron

The Future Of The Elite League
pandorum replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It does sound harsh and also sounds pretty stupid. People accuse us oldies of living in the past. Speedway moved on a decade or so back and riders began to make a living from the sport. Riding for several teams is part of the zeitgeist of the new era. It still is a TEAM sport as riders can't ride for two teams in the same league (guesting apart which is another issue) 'riders can always get a part time job elsewhere!' Who the hell do you think you are? We fans have no right to tell a speedway rider how he plies his trade! If he can earn money from several leagues good luck to him. It's an expensive sport and doubling up/down like it or not is with us and won't go away anytime soon. What we need to get rid of is guests and endless R/R for that we that needs squads but again that will involve doubling up/down as those squad members not in play will need to earn a crust somewhere else, In the old NNL days riders rode for both NNL teams and BL teams and nobody saw a problem then. A heat leader at NNL could turn out as a reserve in the BL. He gained experience and a bit of cash. Doubling up is nothing new. You should go and tell a rider face to face that he should get a part time job as his racing for more than one team offends you and you don't give two hoots whether he struggles to get by as long as he only turns out for your team. Have a good dentist on standby though -
Never liked the regionalisation idea myself but as TWK points out 'The very survival of Speedway may well depend on something very close to this being adopted'. The sport is desperate and this may well be the short term answer. A PL level regionalised league with a play off system to provide an overall champion. Pretty much the last option of a bankrupt sport. Might just save it from extinction! Well said. Top riders won't save speedway but not having them and going back to stable teams and starting to produce new talent might. Might also see the end of TWKs favourite rule and I bet he would say amen to that

What commercial gain do they get from having Chris Harris You are right of course but they would be fools to not include either Laguta or Emil if they can as commercial gain or not they thrill the crowd and few do that nowadays.

They would be mental not to do anything to get Emil and any other top Russians into the series. They run a business not a charity and box office talks merit walks

As Sidney says on the one hand he must be punished and know he has been punished but on the other the sport can ill afford to lose the Dudeks and Wards it has. A ban for the rest of 2014 and from GP and all FIM meetings for say the next two seasons until 2017 would be a fitting punishment for someone with Ward's ambition as it would hurt him and still allow speedway to benefit from such a talented rider. Everyone here makes good points but cutting off the nose to spite the face is not a serious option for a sport such as speedway which sadly barely registers with the rest of the world unless it is to report that some idiot has done something idiotic.
