Just posted on the official British Speedway web site. OFFICIAL STATEMENT: MILDENHALL SPEEDWAY Thursday, March 20, 2025 BRITISH Speedway Promoters Ltd can confirm with regret that Mildenhall will be unable to compete in the 2025 season. The Fen Tigers, who did not race last year, were hoping to make a late entry into the National Development Trophy competition with a Community Trust model set up to operate at West Row. An SCB track inspection took place last month, with the club being advised of revisions which would be required to their air barrier arrangements in order to meet safety standards. Unfortunately, with the deadline to stage British Speedway events of March 15 having passed, it means Mildenhall will not be involved in official competition in 2025. However, the BSP will continue to support the club’s ongoing efforts to get the stadium ready for the 2026 season and, subject to obtaining an SCB track licence, Mildenhall will be warmly encouraged to stage events at Amateur level later this year. We are very keen to see the sport resurrected at West Row and will continue to support the club in their endeavours.

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
Bunce replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think I found it on the BT web site Bruno? It was listed under "special offers for BT customers". I read all the small print and it clearly said it was a 1 month rolling contract, so I plan to cancel it once the Speedway season is over. I have a Samsung smart TV with has Discovery+ under the apps section. If I scroll to that app and select sports, I can now access all the 4 TNT sports channels via that route. Seems to work fine. -
Be aware that parts of the A47 between the Hardwick roundabout and Pullover roundabout in Kings Lynn will be closed the day of the meeting. Details can be found on the National Highways (East) web site with a diversion map. https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/east/east-maintenance-schemes/ This is basically what it says; We’re urgently repairing the Great Ouse Bridge at King’s Lynn. We’ll work over two days, weather permitting. Closure - 8pm Saturday 15 March to 5am Monday 17 March To work safely, we'll close the westbound carriage way of the A47 between Hardwick Roundabout and Pullover Roundabout. Diversion If you're travelling westbound on the A47 towards Pullover Roundabout: exit the A47 at Hardwick Roundabout onto the A10 continue on the A10 towards Denver and exit the A10 onto the A1122 follow the A1122 through Outwell to the A1101 at Wisbech Roundabout, turn right to rejoin the A47 towards Pullover Roundabout or turn left to continue westbound on the A47

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
Bunce replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It was actually a nickname I was given at work, but actually had nothing to do with money! Long story Iain. However, I've just discovered that if you are a BT Internet customer (I am) then they are offering Discovery+ and all four TNT sports channels for £20 a month on a rolling 1 month contract, which means once the Speedway or GP season ends, I can cancel that add on from my BT package. Reluctantly I decided to subscribe, because it does cover Moto GP as well, which I enjoy, plus loads of extra sports. All the details are on BT's web site, but it is a special offer for BT Internet customers only. Still bloomin expensive, but I couldn't find any other option. -

I think you will find they are no longer showing the highlights on Quest, but have moved them to the DMax channel? Sadly that doesn't compensate me who used to get Discovery+ as part of my Sky package and now the alternative is to pay an extra £30 a month for TNT sport! Previously I could watch all the GP's, the League matches shown on Eurosport etc, now nothing! -

I tried two calls to Sky today and basically got nowhere. I told them I now can't get Eurosport or the sport part on the Discovery+ app, and yet I'm still asked to pay the same monthly price. All I got was lots of excuses, and one advisor even suggested I increase my package by another £15 a month! I'm amazed you got a result, as despite my sweet talking I got nowhere with them. Not sure what other no cost or low cost options I have to watch the GP's and League matches live this year? I do have BT Internet and Virgin Fibre outside my house, but I'm not sure if it would be any cheaper going with them than adding TNT Sport to my existing Sky package. I think the TNT sport is another £30 amonth, and I'm not paying that just for Speedway coverage. -
It would be nice if we could get a few more people to commit their support (and money) to the project. I really hope that all the fans that pledged to finanancially donate, actually do that. I pledged my support at the meeting and will donate as soon as I get the details. There has been a lot of effort being put in to getting this unique project off the ground, its never been done before and it will be great if it succeeds.

Eurosport, terrible professionalism.

If that's the case then they can stuff it! -
I believe Steve Ribbons was the man behind the failed attempt to bring Speedway back to the Royal Norfolk Showground in Norwich. Unfortunately the publicity surrounding the attempt didn't result in its success. I can't remember the reasons behind that Norwich failure, but lets hope this is not another "pie in the sky" scheme that will fall flat on its face like the Norwich one did? I wish Steve all the luck in the World and hope we as fans of the Mildenhall Club can get this plan up and running this year. I'll reserve my judgement on Mr Ribbons until I've heard what his plan is.

It would be helpful if the Mildenhall Speedway website was updated as well? I think the last entry on "latest news" was July last year. Keeping everybody involved far and wide is what publicity is all about.

What's the difference between the National Leauge teams and the National Trophy teams? I must have missed this somewhere. Still mourning the loss of Mildenhall, I loved my Sunday afternoons sitting on the grass bank of the back straight eating my chips and the youngsters giving it full gas!

I see lots of people without a programme, and if my Wife comes with me, we only buy one programme, so putting the price up even higher (perhaps by £3) to include a programme is not a good idea in my opinion.

There is of course the option to stay at home and spend your £25 on the fuel bill? Have you been to a football match lately and seen how much they charge.

Wolves Speedway potential new stadium???
Bunce replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yep, been there, done that with potential sites for a new track near Norwich. We found a great site in a gravel pit, a natural bowl which seemed ideal. Planning application turned down on road access, and not approved until a new large road junction was built. A few years down the line, the road junction was built, planning application turned down again! In the meantime they gave permission for a huge new retail park next to our proposed site with a big Sainsburys, The Range, Boots, Next and numerous other stores all exiting at the same junction which the planners said was not suitable for a Speedway stadium. Regular chaos and queues at the junction, so words fail me! -
I am a frequent visitor to our local Theatres, such as the Corn Exchange in Kings Lynn, to see live music. The shows are generally between £28 and £35 per person for 2 hours live entertainment. Some shows are even more. The killer for me is that I live just south of Norwich, so its a 100 mile round trip and the cost of fuel has to be factored in. Plus the cost of a programme, perhaps a drink and some chips and its a big expense now I'm a pensioner. I think the admission price is OK, but its the total cost that makes it difficult for some people.
