Hopefully the great racing last weekend might whet the appetite of 'lost fans' who used to go to the sport years ago and might be tempted back. I paid for my GP tickets when they came out a few months ago, so the financial 'pain' was a while ago. Would have thought that there might be a few more there tomorrow to see Doyle's debut though. Early days, I guess, but there shouldn't be any weather issues, so I'd have been hopeful of a good crowd.

Looking forward to going to this and seeing Doyle's debut. Ticket sales didn't look promising on the website earlier though. With Kildermand and Blodorn back in the team I can only see a comfortable home win for the Aces, but it will actually be nice to see the team without guests. 52-38

Surely Harry Redknapp with his West Ham connections could have a word? Maybe also get the Hearns involved to give it the publicity it needs. Definitely worth exploring, but as an addition to the Manchester weekend rather than instead of.

Can't make it tonight, but was going to stream it from BVTV - anyone else having issues with ordering it? It's currently saying not available.

54-36 Easy win. Sheffield will be too good at home for everyone this season.

Can see it being close on Monday, but Sheffield to win easily on Thursday. This Belle Vue team will struggle at most away tracks I feel unless Cook can really step up. The key to Monday will be Cook, Blodorn & Kildemand for the Aces. They'll need to get around 20 points between them to get a home win. Kurtz / Bewley should be good for about 25 points but reserves won't get much.

A really good first meeting of the season for me. Bewley looked a little sluggish early on (by his standards), but what a final! The track held up to the weather very well despite the earlier rain and there was some great, brave racing. Kurtz / Fricke and then Bewley / Holder were hard but fair with each other and the meeting got better the further it went. Credit to Chris Harris as well - never gives less than 100%.

Wonder if Cairns or Zischke will end up with the higher average this season? Both are capable of putting a point or two on their starting averages imo.

Having three rounds of fixtures, plus playoffs will test the patience of the most ardent fans. If I miss a match, it will be a case of 'oh well, they're here again in a few weeks'. What if the 'third round' had a different race format with six or five rider teams with no guests allowed? At least it would bring a little more interest as we get to the peak spectator time of July / August.

I agree, but they are finding it hard enough to sort out 2026 at this point, let alone 2027!

I think that there needs to be a meeting of promoters of both current league in June / July next year to discuss 2027. There's no point leaving it until after the season ends. If there are disagreements (which there obviously will be), there needs to be sufficient time to arrange follow up discussions and come to some compromise. If there could be a big 'reveal' meeting (and try to get as much media involved as possible), it would be a good start to the new era. Maybe a change of name for the league as well - the British Speedway Super League perhaps? ''Dormant' and potential new tracks can get involved, riders could make plans, supporters could consider season tickets as Christmas presents, media can get engaged.

So sorry for Ipswich fans who must be devasted. The Louis family have been a credit to the sort in various guises and, whilst having a Witches bias (which is completely understandable), have always put the interests of the sport in general first. The sport is crying out for an independent supremo to be the figurehead, face and voice of the sport. Fans, media and sponsors have no idea how the sport is governed. I for one would be more than happy if that was Chris Louis.

Fantastic news! Hopefully the lessons learnt from last season can be put to good effect. Wonder if the temporary stands could be made a little bigger (with a proper sound system) next year?

A rider universally liked and for good reason. Apart from being an exciting, world class rider, he appears to be a fine human being who cares for the fans and the sport in general. British speedway is all the poorer for his absence.

Fair play to Ipswich a fully deserved result. To be honest at the mid point of the meeting I was just hoping that somehow we'd get a home win. Blodorn and Mulford gave me a little bit of hope, but the Witches fought back well and rode sensibly. Doyle in particular had a great meeting. Virtually no chance for the Aces on Thursday but always thought that we're the fourth best team in the playoffs. On to next season with several changes for Belle Vue, irrespective of the league structure.
