That's so sad. I met Ivan a few years ago at Cardiff where he signed his book for me. Loved the guy when he rode for Belle Vue, hated him for a bit when he left (!), but I came around to totally respecting a great professional and the blue print for riders today to follow.

Cardiff Wild Card 2011
Garry1603 replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can see it being Woffinden or Nichols for political reasons, but the fairest way would be to allow the British Champion (excluding Harris) to compete. -
Tai Woffinden
Garry1603 replied to lucifer sam's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't think that his performances merit another attempt at the GPs next year. A lot of people (including myself) thought that this was a year too early for him and sadly it has proven to be the case. It wold be unfair to the other potential wildcards if Tai was picked in front of them. Let him concentrate on his Wolves form in 2011 and hopefully he can come back the following year. -
Disappointing World Cup?
Garry1603 replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It might just throw up some unusual results - maybe even a GB win! -
I emailed the Millenium Stadium last week as well. I mentioned the very poor sound system and they replied within 10 minutes apologising for the system and explaining that they were going to revamp it completely for next year. It was a very nice reply to be honest, let's hope tat they carry out their promise.

Sadly not the kind of field we used to get, but a meeting in August is not going to attract too many GP riders these days. The extra costs to the management aren't going to bring in sufficient revenue to justify their appearance. Hope that the meetng produces great racing befitting the great little man.

British Riders In The Gp's
Garry1603 replied to Topcat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can't see things improving until there are more British riders in the EL. Tai might move on to the next level but there is no certainty about that. It's becoming a major success if a Brit gets to a semi final unfortunately. -

Get Sky to rename it the 'Sky Golden Helmet Series' and you would have a winner!

Andersen at 16-1 (each way) and Holder 33-1 (each way) aren't bad odds

Nicki Predicts A Hard Gp Year For Emil
Garry1603 replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He'll certainly create controversy! I think it might be another year or two before he will have the consistency and maturity to take the crown though -
Leszno Gp - 24th April 2010
Garry1603 replied to GregM's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think that Pedersen might win tomorrow with Gollob as usual being close. Crump might still be feeling the injuries and settle for a semi final slot at this stage of the season. -
Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
Garry1603 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I still think Crumpie is a step ahead of the others, but it will be a lot closer this year with several riders capable of winning GPs (and taking points off each other). Crumpie (just), from Nikki, Emil, Lindgren and Gollob -
He was done a year or two back I think

Pekka Hautamaki Kristian Praestbro Chris Turner Eric Monaghan Eric Broadbelt Phil Collins Les Collins John Titman Rod Hunter Steve Finch

Dave Morton always seemed to get injured when he was about to hit the really big time. He would probably have reached a few World Finals if he had avoided the big injuries.

Jim McMillan Charlie Monk George Hunter Henny Kroeze Bobby Beaton Martin Scarisbrick Ian Hindle

The Belle Vue team sponsored silver leathers (in 1977 I think) were pretty horrible. They looked like astronauts PC and Mort changed back to their normal leathers VERY soon afterwards

My Backtrack arrived today (Tuesday) and is the best yet. Great interviews with Crumpie (senior) and Dag Lovaas and Ron Preston - simply the best read around form70s/80s fans nlike me
