You're right, but that's where it needs to change. It should be run by the FIM or an Eccleston type character and everyone else has to fall in line for the greater good.

I thnnk it would be good if speedway could follow a system like Formula One where the 'formula' is revised and updated every five years or so. Whether it's 2 or 4 valve or upright or laydown I'll leave to more technically minded people, but it would make the sport interesting and relevant. As long as there is a sufficient lead in period to the next formula there would be no issues with equipment becoming obsolete, they would just get old and be out of date anyway. It hasn't done Formula One any harm to introduce elements to the sport which effectively slow down the cars - why not speedway?

Belle Vue wanted it more and were willing to put their necks on the line to win it. I feel the result would have been similar on a dry track too. Sam Hagon was excellent but a few of the other Leicester riders need to take a look at themselves in the mirror. Special praise has to go to the track staff for getting the meeting on at all and still producing some good racing despite the conditions.

So, if he were fit, he could ride a week on Monday if the first leg is rained off?

Great as it was to see an exciting clash with two top teams (and the Aces winning!), for me it's totally overshadowed by the injury to Ben Cook. The fact that it wasn't shown on TV isn't a good sign and I can only hope that initial rumours are unfounded. Insensitive of Eurosport to try to do interviews with riders when he was stricken on the track.

Unless Belle Vue can keep it close up until the middle of the meeting, I think that Sheffield will have too much for us tonight.

Fantastic meeting and some great racing. Both teams deserve credit for giving it a real go and the track staff produced a perfect track surface. Don't think that 12 points will be enough, but it will be close and go down to the last 2 / 3 heats, but It's certainly defendable if Lidsey, Vuolas and Mulford can replicate their efforts tonight, but I'm not so sure.

So far I can let you all know I have fractured 7 vertebrae and 5 ribs and have a nasty entry and exit hole in my left bum cheek where I was penetrated by my bike when I followed by bike into the fence. I have so far had 1 surgery on my ass cheek and have been told I will need a couple more in the coming days. I want to let everyone know this crash was 100% a racing incident and nobody is at fault. Local media reporting that Tate has suffered multiple broken ribs and vertebrae in the accident. Obviously out for the season. Just hope he makes a full recovery

A really upsetting crash and the atmosphere leaving the stadium was as subdued as I can remember for a long time. He made a fine debut beforehand and looked like he could be a game changer for Belle Vue, but that doesn't matter now, I just hope that he can make a full recovery with rest and rehabilitation.
