Laura cannot continue to lose money week in week out, and I don’t blame her cause I know for sure I wouldn’t. Looking at recent posts on social media, it’s clear that speedway isn’t greatly thought of in the town. Not being part of the new stadium plans (probably by our own doing, an idiot wouldn’t sign a 50 year lease for speedway) has highlighted that, the track gets in the way of viewing for the other 2 teams fans. Big crowds or not for the last few meetings, if the comets were to continue running they would only have the use of Derwent Park for probably 1 more year. It has been made public that there was a party interest in becoming the new owners of Workington Speedway. But that would also come with the responsibility of finding a location for and building a new track in the area. So no surprises that they soon lost interest. It is indeed a crying shame, as this time when it closes, I don’t think we will see speedway again in Workington. And to go out potentially as treble winners will be very bittersweet. Maybe a consortium could be a possible idea?

I believe Mason was due to fly back to Aus early this week for state champs, but he has now decided to stay in UK to complete Comets remaining fixtures and hopefully get us some silverware

He could be just giving himself a couple of chances maybe! As for Ty, he needs to reach 7.00 to get his visa for next year as far as we are all aware! I’m sure there’s some way he can manage to work it out! Hey maybe one of us might have to marry him to get a visa hands up....THJ?!

I’m gutted for him! He’d just arrived at the meeting tonight as it was called off! Unsure how it will all pan out... can he swap to another state champs date? Be a real disappointment for him to miss out, and even worse for him to miss out on a visa for next season! Especially after the hoops he jumped through to race for the Comets this season We will see watch this space! It’s a crying shame we will be racing our finals with such a depleted team. No matter what, the comets have made us prour all season, and well deserved I say

Please do your research before commenting on what does/does not happen at Workington. You clearly do not know much about the current promotion, or the efforts in place to help out this club. Yes there is a trust. No, THJ is not Hoggy. Laura has been nothing but brilliant for Workington Speedway, and has lived every fans dream of owning and running a club, although it has landed her in what is now a difficult place. This sport is dying, with every attempt made to revive it, actually losing more and more fans. Glasgow have been in our shoes before but no sympathy given. All jokes aside, you can do all the promoting you like up there, but it will be a miserable day when you have no teams left to race against. Enjoy it while it lasts, maybe on a different thread that involves your own club? Oh and a big congrats to the mighty monarchs.
