Mildenhall V Birmingham Sun 16th July
OGT replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Well there's the problem with speedway these days. So imagine you've taken a newbie along today, how do you explain that away? I agree, nobody wants it, but it happens and it's hurting the sport, as is doubling and tripling up. At NL level there should be kids to at least fill the RR places and that should be the rule, if it is indeed a development league Guests have been a bugbear since even before I became a fan in 1970 (I have a ton of 1960s Speedway mags so I know) and I'm afraid that problem will never be solved, unfortunately. -

Speedway World Cup 2017
OGT replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Been away all week so watched the final tonight. As far as Team GB's effort is concerned, it reflected the standing of speedway in this country, TBH. -

Wow, what an incredible speedway meeting. That heat 15 ride from Lindback will live long in the memory. -

A big red "B" on a bright yellow background, does exactly what it says on the tin race jacket. -

In general yes, in British speedway, not necessarily. Open to interpretation, not set in stone. -
If the Monster sponsored (well any energy drink really) riders drank as much of the product as it looked then they'd be like a 5 year old on a diet of Ribena and blue smarties! I dread to think what that would do to a 46 year old geez.

Did you get to meet George Major by any chance? -
Watched this meeting earlier today and I have to agree with people who say it was the best meeting of the season. Firstly, what a track, even given the weather it rode fantastically. Secondly, what a bunch of racers that field was, some of the racing was utterly bonkers. Thirdly, add firstly to secondly, what's not to like?

His groupies called him that too.

When Did Speedway Stop Being As Good As It Used To Be…
OGT replied to sparkafag's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
When I was a lad you used to get the touring sides coming over, Olching from Germany and the Swedes used to tour too, You'd get Young Poles v Young England tests, all sorts of stuff, all very interesting and a break away from league racing. World championship qualifiers used to start at Division 2 tracks with all the riders vying to reach the next stage. The British Final was a proper prestige event, there were big money, big name televised individual events, the list goes on. All this has been lost now and what we have left have left is so watered down that the interest has largely disappeared for many many fans. -
