Oxford v Birmingham Tues 17th May
OGT replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's the key, one swallow doesn't make a summer after all. Hopefully he'll improve his average at least. -
Probably because the work's behind schedule and the clock's ticking down. More workers coming in, price goes up.

Blimey, take a bow, Brummies. -
I get that, but loyalty wears thin when the team isn't quite as attractive as you first thought or were lead to believe. Speedway isn't a charity and times are bloody hard for a lot of people. And times for the club have just been made even harder.

Speedway is lucky it has some people left who put up with all the shenanigans. -
For anyone interested, ITV journalist, Nina Nannar has written a book about the history of the ambulance. It's a great read by all accounts.

The Blosers in North Brum. You're having a laugh. Over half the 40k seats for the games are temporary. It'll never happen, simply because the Alex is the premier stand alone Athletics stadium in the country. The headquarters of UK Athletics is based there. They don't need to share it with anyone. More chance of BCFC sharing with Solihull Moors! -
Brummies v Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg Wed 6th April

He admitted he made a mistake returning to speedway. It was a knee jerk reaction to his Moto3 dreams being shattered by Mahindra. He's certainly no duffer having podiumed in his first season in the class. -
Don't knock him, he could be ahead of the game given the impending cost of living crisis. Pat him on the back now!

According to the P&P piece on Central News on Friday, Auty's bike can accelerate quicker than an F1 car. He didn't say which one or what year it was though. -
Because speedway is the only team Motorsport in the world?

GD had a bit of a Cockle obsession a few years ago.

Think he's better suited to commentary than doing live updates, he looks a bag of nerves doing that. I have to agree he's a better commentator than NP and KT.

The problem Brum would always have to overcome was the 21 years between The Wheels and the return to Perry Barr. After the initial burst of interest at the start in 2007, the crowds settled down to mainly the old fans and a few newbies, unfortunately dwindling gradually over the years. Speedway is a sport that no longer captures the imagination of the sporting public. How you attract new fans and returnees in that climate I'll never know.

Or wait 30 years and post a question in the Years Gone By section.

Ha ha, Mroz, a James Bond villain's henchman if ever there was one! Scary fella.

What average would Arthur Browning be on? Ticks a lot of boxes.

Guy probably means the Brummies Fans Forum, not the BSF.

I think it was slick to stop riders lifting and disappearing over the back straight fence where some fans were standing. Bit like Tai Woffinden did in his first ride at PB.

TBH, how could you not love The Galloping Major? He was the man at Brum in 71 and when he appeared in his banana skin leathers, we loved him even more. A great rider to watch, a 100% trier and. 110% team man. A brilliant skipper. Above all though, he's a lovely fella and that's probably worth more than anything.

He'd miss any Easter fixtures though......

Birmingham Brummies 2020
OGT replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Brum's big problem since the 2007 relaunch is the 21 year gap between the Wheels and Perry Barr. This is why the majority of supporters are, to be kind, mature and in a lot of cases, very mature. Finding and holding on to a new generation of fans is a huge, huge task. -

The commonwealth games will cost council tax payers money and has caused them and will continue to cause them more disruption than all the years of speedway put together. I don't believe they give a toss about a few hundred people on a Wednesday night for a few months.
