  1. Anyone else enjoy Whizzercam tonight? Bloody marvellous. Who needs drones when you have Whizzercam?
  2. Neil Middleditch's dirt track Douglas is on show there.
  3. It's snobbery, MSM in this country doesn't like motorcycles or motorcycle sport. They only mention the TT if there's a fatality. BSB is well supported but is never mentioned, WSBK and MotoGP events are well attended but again, nothing.
  4. 21 years away took its toll on the supporter demographic.
  5. That goes back a long way, there was significant opposition to Birmingham reopening in 1971, but it turned out to be a roaring success and attracted fans from neighbouring clubs, whilst Brum fans visited other local teams. I remember jumping into a neighbour's Reliant van on many Saturday nights for a trip to Cradley, Coventry or Stoke. Those were the days as they say.
  6. Plus you get the best out of the lot, BSB and all the support races.
  7. Not riding speedway anymore, but Andre and Benji Compton are both competing in the BMW F900, British Superbikes support series this year. Andre is doing pretty well too.
  8. They wasn't was they......? Sackcloth and ashes for me, Tosh.
  9. No, cos Brum didn't open til 2007. Unless you mean 1986
  10. That's a relief. The story on the Greyhound page was yesterday's date, they're a touch slow on the uptake then I guess.
  11. This looks a bit worrying. I always thought there was a covenant on the stadium stating it had to be used for sporting purposes. https://greyhoundstar.co.uk/perry-barr-pre-planning-application/
  12. 20 quid will have the "£10 Sport" crowd up in arms.
  13. True, but Villa sell out every game and have 20k waiting for a season ticket. The ground is about to be expanded to 52k+. Blues crowds are because their ground is a tip at the moment and Albion seem to get the same gates whether their successful or not. People still go. As far as Premiership rugby is concerned, it's at a crossroads really. 2 clubs gone, rumours that 2 or 3 could be in trouble too. Most clubs seem to have a rich benefactor keeping them afloat, bit like speedway really. Plus crowds are, in general, dwindling. Many rugby union fans are only interested in internationals and I know from experience many can't name which clubs most of the England team play for!
  14. Not enough people are interested in speedway and in any case, why would they be? What aspect of the sport would attract people who know nothing about it and have probably never even heard of it? The sport was lost to the city for 21 years, that's a lot of existing and potential fans lost to something else. The first few seasons back were fairly successful, crowd and team wise, then it kind of came of the rails and has struggled to repeat the "glory days" since. Football is the king really, Villa, Blues, Albion and Walsall all within easy reach. That's where the sporting interest largely is. Edgbaston come the 20/20 stuff too, packed out.
  15. He's says "coming on strong" so often, he could commentate on one of Mr Shovlar's, erm, documentaries.
  16. That Dan Bewley chap has some bottle! Well done, young un (again).
  17. I love watching the British Talent Cup (formerly Motostar) races in BSB, to see who the next big thing could be. There are some cracking kids coming through at the moment. Great to watch.
  18. Birmingham has a UFC world champion now, Leon Edwards. That's something else to celebrate.
  19. I think by the time he'd bumbled through the heat line up, the race would be over!
