  1. 13 heats would have been the last ever meeting at the Ladbroke, or has there been another match since?
  2. Watched both meetings today and I must say they were thoroughly enjoyable. Some cracking stuff, well done to both teams. If Zmarzlik isn't world champ one day I'll be v surprised and not a little disappointed.
  3. No good news yet. http://www.birminghambrummies.co/news.php?extend.1999
  4. Really hope you're right as far as terms and conditions are concerned.
  5. It's a shame that nobody has written a book on AB, I'm sure it would be a tremendous read considering how much he's packed into his near 3 score and 10 years.
  6. Just noticed the Big A's results in last Saturday's 500cc Classic TT race. 49th after lap 1 42nd after lap 2 31st after lap 3 Finished 25th overall out of 47 finishers at an average speed of 90mph Incredible really, Arthur's 70 next month!! Legend.
  7. I usually give commentators the benefit of the doubt, but Sam Ermolenko is just "fingernails down a blackboard" annoying now with all the repetitive gobbledegook he keeps spouting. Put Scott in the box and Sam in the pits, preferably talking as the bikes are warming up!
  8. True and just when Sam thought that Bomber had got his sh!t together...............................
  9. If it does go to one night during the week, how about free uppers for the kids to keep them awake? Just a thought.
  10. Well after turning off and recording the rest after heat 4, I only got to watch the meeting last night and I have to say what an incredible finale. I didn't think Puk was going to pull it off, but talk about timing!!
  11. Aaah yes, good old Gentleman jack. I've met him a couple of times, smashing chap. He generally copes well with bike racing, apart from being obsessed with what county riders are from. With 20-30 blokes (and the odd lady) and 20 laps to commentate on he does okay. Which makes it harder to understand why he struggled with 4 riders over 4 laps, unless it was Sudden Sam confusing him!
  12. I get annoyed with every commentator I listen to, in some way or other, whatever the sport. But as someone has pointed out already, in speedway's case at least the sport is being covered and in Eurosport's case, it's being covered pretty comprehensively. So they can use Stanley Unwin for all I care, if he was still with us of course.
  13. Cricket. Now there's a thing. Essentially boring (imo) and tedious (also imo) at bread and butter level, but vastly more successful and exciting (?) at test and limited over levels. But what really brings the money in and propels the game up to a totally different level of everything is 20/20 or whatever it's called now. Largely unpopular with the older generation, it's helped many clubs to survive financially (some still struggle though, granted) but it's created a whole new generation of, well, 20/20 fans. So there you have the answer, 6 months of tedious bread and butter league speedway, with a month of an all singing all dancing, hyper exciting, over the top competition to pay for it. Simple really.
  14. The start marshall should line up the riders at the tapes. then have someone spray some of that the foam the refs were using at the world cup behind their back wheels,. Anyone who reverses over the foam is then given a chinese burn by either the start marshall, a grid girl or an independent body appointed by the SCB.
  15. On top of this, the pit wall needs padding too.
