If we can get a guest in who can score 6/7 it should be enough to beat Oxford but would maybe worry about the aggregate bonus point
-
I'm sure the older generation do, but you can have special interest groups for that of which there was a few like the 'Old time speedway' page. But it wasn't constant sharing of old posts by the same people, which had zero engagement that filled up the timeline which made me leave
-
That Speedway Friends group was the worst anyways, full of people asking the same old questions and then people spamming the page with posts about racing from about 50 years ago or more which no one cares about.
-
Yeah wouldn't entertain Lambert either, would be terrible. Bailey, Edwards, Castagna or Mountain the best options from the list I'd say
-
Antti missing next Saturday so will have to find a guest (up to 6.49) as he's riding in the GP qualifiers.

Poole Pirates Vs Workington Comets League15/5/24
Marksman replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Absolutely, I'd rather the sport retains some ounce of credibility. Especially when they keep streaming from there on a national platform. When a prominent sponsor (front of racesuit) publically slates the club on Social Media, you know it's bad. We have to move away from the amateur look the sport has, Phil Morris is doing his best at PL level. -

Well he joked pre-season that if Plymouth were to offer him a contract he'd retire from Speedway. Keep on supporting your Hillbilly club, because it won't be there for much longer. Ben Barker couldn't be more suited to the place. -
The team is doing just fine, Up until the Poole meeting we'd won 60% of all official heats ridden (7 meetings), having 2 Number 1 riders helps. Sam seems to be able to get in front from time to and then ride the wrong line, just learning Edinburgh's reserves are similiar to ours so lets see how they get on against them on Saturday Speedway isn't really a cutthroat sport anyways

Batchelor aside the Comets were just not at the races from the gate, the Poole riders made the most of the ripped up starts. Sam Hagon was like a rocket out of them. One team being that far behind to the first turn is not going to produce good racing unfortunately, Comets were a let down but similiarly Poole too good. Would be surprised if Poole get close to losing at home this season. Well done We can't be harsh on Cookie, he will be back to his best on Saturday i'd imagine after 3 long days on the road. Every Comets fan would of taken this start to the season in general. -

Disappointing meeting all round, the Comets haven’t got out of the gate all night and that’s the end of that around this track. -
Well Cookie is the captain, so wouldn’t be doing his job if he wasn’t putting his views across would he. Many inexperienced riders in the Comets team The place in general just looks like a bomb site

Sheffield vs Ipswich 13th May
Marksman replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Probably not, top scored in both appearances so far. But travelling distance may be a factor, took him 7 and a half hours to get there last Monday and was called off at short notice. Surprised no one has mentioned Batchelor yet, surely he’d be a miles better option than Howarth (or Etheridge/Allen) judging by what I’ve seen this season, riding like a Number 1 at Champ level again. -
Maybe it was a double deal the BSPL did alongside the “Turkish made sh*te” tyres as Batchelor called them!

Workington v Glasgow 11/05/24 3pm (Ch)
Marksman replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He isn’t heavy, I did think the same at first to be honest. He just wears an awful lot of padding. He’s still in the gym boxing and looks trim without a race suit on Not surprised he scored 16 at Sheffield with the level of his gating this season, has been electric -
Scunthorpe vs Workington - 10/5/24 (Bsn Series)

Not the best choice of guest for the Comets, funny how Simon Lambert rides like a Heatleader at home but then looks like a reserve away. -
He said in that video about 4 in PL and 7 in the CL Looking at the Green sheets it will be 4.72 PL and 7.05 CH I think!
-
We might just surprise a few, it's practically just about who gets out the gate first. Claus scored 11+2 there last season. Maybe Tate and Antti can have a session round our kids track to practice for it It was an awful spectacle last night it is absoultely pointless that they've widened it because the inside line off the 3/4 bend works so well, I can get Plymouth fans being defensive over it because it's their home, but it does the sport no favours. I can now see Cookie's and Lawson's comments about the place in the pre-season events were justified As harsh as that sounds it's the truth and 99% on this forum would agree. Anyone comparing this to Edinburgh is wrong imo, Edinburgh is a good test of a riders ability. Plymouth is just like US indoor track.

Glasgow v Workington - league - 3 May @ 7.30pm
Marksman replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Enjoyed it tonight but gave ourselves too much to do after being 8 points down after 2 heats. Expected the heat 2 result but rather unfortunate in Heat 1. Felt like a constant back and forth with Glasgow having a strong pairing and then Comets having one. Think Glasgow will improve and won’t get beat at home because they won’t hang about making changes. Worrall seems a shadow of his former self this season and Starke isn’t good enough to ride in the top 5 for a team like Glasgow. Hopefully we’ve done enough to grab the aggregate bonus point next Saturday! -
If Redcar are stuck for a guest at home on a Friday night they could always call on Janowski His Champ average would now be 7.92 so could guest at home, hilarious really.

Looking forward to travelling up for this one! Sounding like another large away following from the Comets. Just a shame it potentially could be only the one visit to Glasgow this year. Hopefully not with BSN series / playoffs. I was majorly suprised when I saw Jack Smith's score last week, but looking at who he beat for those points, Oxford's 2/3/4 Atkins, Heeps, Jenkins. It's maybe not as suprising. Would hope he won't be repeating that against Tate, Dan Thompson and Vissing. Shame Antti is missing he would probably love the track UTC
